Hi! My Bible arrived in the mail today. It is massive!! Almost 6 lbs. It is really great & a must have for all Catholics. I have several Catholic study bibles, & this Ignatius Catholic study Bible Old & New Testament is the most comprehensive one. I bought the bonded leather one like yours Emm. This Bible is going to take a long time to get through but I’m sure it will be worth it. I so glad I bought it. Thanks for your review. God bless. Merry Christmas and a Happy Healthy New Year! ❤️💚🎅🏻🎊🎉🎶🎁🎵🙏🏻🙏🏻✝️✡️💜
@@rosalynforte509 That’s so awesome you got it, and right before Christmas! Yay🤗 And I soooo agree…what a blessing this Bible is. Definitely something we can study for years to come😁 Thanks for taking the time to watch the video btw, and for commenting. God bless 🙏🏽
Amazon Canada hosed me. Can't get my hands on this now. Ordering it straight from the publisher would involve shipping costs I can't afford. Smart of you to put one on reserve at a local store. Hopefully one of pur local stores gets some in soon!
I was in the same boat as you before finding out our local store was going to carry it! Even with the pre-order discount, the shipping from Ignatius was a bit too much for me and when I checked Amazon Canada, at the time, they had shipping date Dec 31st, I think, which I thought was too late then:( If you're in Ontario, I think Sunrise Marian still has some in stock of the leather one:www.sunrisemarian.com/product/9781586176143.html I think they ship nationwide!
That's such a great question and I should have mentioned this! The font is slightly smaller...9 pt font on this one, and the old one has 10.4 point font size😃You can barely see the difference though TBH.
Please I live in Peru, please pray so that God give me the grace to have one copy. Thank you very much. Very good video, thanks for the compare it with the other Bible...yes it is big.
I love my Ignatius catholic study bible, I pre-ordered it when it was dirt cheap compared to what it cost now, I got mine last week and have already read all the essays. Its definitely my favorite bible even Tho its huge, but the information it contains is priceless, I really love the paper its kind of a cream color and the thickness is good i ordered the hard back edition the paper may be thicker than the leather not sure, I don't mark in my bibles it's a pet peeve of mine, I like the clean look...
That's actually such a great idea to have both the leather and hard bound. As someone who does mark my Bibles, it would be nice to have a pristine copy😀 I also really love its paper! That's great you were able to pre-order. I think there was a 10 or 20% discount for those who pre-order first, right? That was such a great deal. I tried to do it when the announcement came out, but the shipping to Canada was just too much for me.😆 Anyhoo, thanks for watching!
@@EmmMW123 Their is a paper cover version as well I seen at a church gift shop, yes it was 20% discount to pre-order, If you become a member of the St Paul center you get a bible for free
I actually wanted the hardbound originally but bought this leather one because it was what came in stock, and it really is nice. Can’t go wrong with both TBH🤗
Ooooooo...that's a hard question🤔 Hmmmm...TBH, because I'm doing the Bible In A Year with Fr. Mike right now, I would choose the Great Adventure Bible because of its layout (the timeline notes and explanation really does help). But if I'm not doing that, it would be the Ignatius because of the extensive study notes. Thanks so much for the great question and for watching🤗
I'm looking forward to getting my hands on one. It's not available here in the UK until 22 December. Mind you after a 26 year wait what are a few extra weeks!!! 😊👍 You beat R Grant Jones with your review.
LOL....so true😁 I was honestly surprised it came beginning of December here in Canada! And I've seen his videos! When his review comes out, it will definitely be more comprehensive and basically 100% better😂
In hindsight, do you think that you would have preferred the hardback version or the leather bound? Usually, I prefer the leatherbound, but looking at the size of this Bible I don't think that I would be carrying it around so I was leaning more towards the hardback version.
That's a great question! Honestly, my original intent was to buy the hardback, as I tend to make leather covers anyway on books I always use. The hard back is also cheaper, and as I tend to mark my Bibles, I figured I would feel less "precious" about it if I buy the hard back. I'm still very happy with this leather version, of course, but if the hard back was available, I probably would have bought that TBH.
You could see I do bible reviews here in the Philippines from the different publishers sending our ministry their new releases. I have been interestingly curious about that specific bible although it’s expensive getting a copy of that from the US to us here to the Philippines.
Oh, I can only imagine! I was going to pre-order directly from Ignatius but it would have cost me around $200 Cdn with the shipping and exchange rate...sigh....And I have seen your video on the Great Adventure Bible! Thank you for doing what you do:) I love watching Bible reviews...which is really bad for my wallet😂
I hear yah! It will be much easier to carry around for sure😁 BTW, thank you so much again for the Raymond Brown book recommendation! I was able to borrow a digital copy at our local library. I’ve started reading it and have read some of the intro essays and currently on the Mark section. It’s great! It’s on my Verbum wish list and waiting for it to go on sale😁
Thanks for the review! A concordance would have made it perfect. I wouldn't mind it being a bit bigger. At this point it wouldn't make any difference 😅😂
For portability, the individual books make sense for sure! But TBH, I'm not even that strong and I find it easy enough to carry around...well, around the house anyway😁
@ I am a Catholic Lay Preacher and we have a biblical ministry fully endorsed and supported by our Cardinal here in the Archdiocese of Manila. No monetary support but our ministry always receives support when it comes to all parishes getting involved with our ministry. The review Bibles I receive all the time are from Cambridge, Holman, Bible Hub and Ascension. I saw Dr. Hahn’s video about that but I could not reach Ignatius if they accept bible review inquiries
@@chris12780 Oh, that's so awesome! I don't know where you're from but if you're in Canada, you can order it at Sunrise Marian:www.sunrisemarian.com/product/9781586176143.html In the US, I think you can pre-order for the next shipment (don't know when they ship out though) from St Paul Center or directly from Ignatius Press. @@EmmMW123 I ordered mine through my local bookstore instead. That cut the shipping cost considerably.
That’s what I ended up doing! I just put one on hold at our local store coz shipping would have cost me almost as much as the Bible😔
I just walked into Catholic bookstore, bought 3.
90 dollars Canadian.
