    This is such a deep scene. Carmella is in fact depressed because she’s made the difficult choice to live her life with a gangster. But while she does, she’s going to exert her own power. Tony may be the king but she’s the queen as exemplified with her blanket of hearts thrown over her back like some royal cape.

      Same for me. The music and the preceding scenes magnified the episode for me. There's only two episodes of the Walking Dead in which the music amplifies it like this series did on a regular basis.

      @@rahalgiovannyloneccio6050 My first is the scene in Tony's coma, where he's sat on the bed, looking out at the skyline, and Moby's When It's Cold I'd Like To Die comes on. That just knocked me back, partly because I hadn't heard the song before and it's so incredibly beautiful.

      @@thesprawl2361 I liked it, well Im going to enjoy it for the second time cause Im rewatching it. For me, probably my first one is when Chris got the newspapers mentioning his name while Frank Sinatra by Cake's playing. The second probably go for the Con te partiró, beautiful song. Even though is constantly repeated, the moment when Tony came back home and says "Im home", and Carmella with a poker face while Andrea bocelli is singing is just gold.

      @@rahalgiovannyloneccio6050 No series has ever combined music so skillfully, not even close. Breaking Bad had its moments here and there, Mad Men too, but every episode of The Sopranos I'd finish watching an episode and go straight onto Tunefinder or whatever it's called to find out what the songs were. And the choices were always so striking and surprising too, stuff that you would think absolutely, definitely, wouldn't work.
      I thought my knowledge of music was pretty wide and deep before I watched this show, but I discovered so many great new songs because of it.
      BTW I'm going to look up that Cake moment because I don't remember it.

    thank you for posting this in it's entire context. I realized a few things and almost came to tears, watching this scene. (1) the song is utterly brilliant and haunting. (2) I haven't watched the show since it aired and forgot how astonishing it is. I must go back and view it again. the interplay between Tony and Carm is so deep and touching and you see it here. (3) there are only a few times in my life in which I have said "I must know what that song is!" and this was one of them.

      Publishers wont pay artists, Spotty wont either.. Mostly, if something is on there, is by the grace of infringement. I believe artists should get paid, but people seem to not want that as much as wanting to hear their faves. I know Im one and havent made anything off YT.. never will.. only by teaching guitar can I earn money.

    Dont let the music or Tony being sincere fool you here. This is Carm at one of her most manipulative, filthy, trash states throughout the series. Sad.

    • @billyb4790
      @billyb4790 9 місяців тому +3

      Uhm I’m not sure you get the point. It’s not just Carmella being manipulative. She’s making her choice to stay with tony. Yes she’s actually sad and depressed because she understands what she’s become. On the other hand she knows her leverage and if she’s choosing to stay she’s going to force her hand. Tony may be the king but she is the queen. You can see this represented by the blanket over her shoulder like a royal cape. She’s queen of the golden prison.
