The new blue colour is Turquoise. They seem to both be pastel colours. A pattern is something that repeats. It can be what you have made on the surface with the tools. Each script can be said to create its own pattern although with some scripts the word texture is used because certain patterns remind us of woven fabric textures. A grain is the direction the paper fibers are going. Hand made paper has fibers going more in one direction than another which dictates which way it is best folded. You fold with the grain so your crease is sharp. Folding against the grain will mean you are having to break a lot of the fibers making a bad crease. There are methods to test which way they go. Machine made paper has fibers which go in all directions so it will fold easily in any direction. The second pad has a 'sheen' to it. A gloss is when it is very shiny and won't absorb the ink. If the surface is rough as you have with one pad, the word is 'Texture' The texture can come from the mesh it is made on or from the rollers it is put through. If a paper is pressed between hot rollers it is 'Hot Pressed' or 'HP' so smooth. If felt is used on the rollers or between layers when it is stacked to press out the water the surface takes on that texture. Manufacturers don't call paper smooth and rough, but instead they label it Hot Pressed or Not. This comes from the days when all a customer wanted to know was 'is it smooth or not' Large Watercolour or similar sheets will be labelled HP of Not. You may not come across it if you only use pads. The smaller nib bleeds more because they all have the same feeding mechanism. The same amount of ink is reaching the smaller nibs as the large ones. Depending on the paper surface that may be too much. I hope this was some help.

I found that ink in the cartridges provided with the pens tends to bleed. You just have to empty those cartridges and put your own good quality ink using a needle syringe. It made a difference!
The cartridge ink blends well but restricts you to a few papers. Instead, fill with Windsor Newton Calligraphy Ink (blue caps) for bleed free lettering on most paper and envelopes. I always keep one of each size filled with walnut ink. When dipped in Bister ink, wonderful blends result.
You truly give me that extra push to keep writing and I definitely am going to be purchasing the Pilot Parallel Pen New Sizes, right now as a matter of fact..

what size is best for beginner? I know every beginner would be attracted to the 6mm one but I don't know how the learning curve would be for that size, these pens are finally available here
I guess the question that I have is is it so similar to the others that wouldnt warrent buyint both of them or do you think they fit into a very specific usage scenerio like using wide ruled notebook paper or using college ruled notebook paper ?

Thanks for the review. There are many mods of these pens because Pilot does not produce interesting varieties of its own. I would like to see built-in capacity for using two ink cartridges, so we don't have to mess around with mating nibs together.
Great video, I didn’t know there would be new sizes. I always find the small PPP sizes bleed, or at least it is very difficult to get sharp hairlines. Also, the Pilot ink cartridges bleed a lot on certain paper, I usually empty the cartridges and refill with gouache or other ink. @@CalligraphyMasters very watery gouache, only a little thicker than watercolour. I think you must take care that it doesn’t have any grains in it, but yes it works for sure.

For the accessibility, one star is too much for it. cause it's not available in many many countries, like here in Morocco. We see it and wish to have it. Our ultimate dream in the calligraphy is to own one or two, but we cannot, because the shipping costs of one pen are equal to the value of all the pens that I saw in this fantastic video. I love my Pilot Parallel Pens but honestly the ink cartridges that come with them are absolute garbage. I strongly recommend that anyone who gets themselves a parallel pen either turn the pen into an eye dropper pen or get yourself an ink converter, the con-40 fits well but is a bit small for an ink converter.
{PILOT PARALLEL PEN NEW SIZES} I keep hoping they will release a couple wider tips but there may be technical reasons they dont. but the price difference between Pilot and something like Automatic (which makes wider) is huge. I think white is fine but will require constant cleaning. Black handle with slightly transparent caps would be just as fresh but avoid looking like Tombow. Now if they just made one with GPS... I keep misplacing mine :-( btw.. watch in slowest speed to hear yourself on ether 😆

Try the canson marker pads. Great for practise as totally bleedproof and translucent for lines grids. Etc…
