Hi Craig! I’m getting back into RC now that riding season is almost over here so I’ve been catching up on all the videos you’ve put out. Just wanted to send you a little thanks for all of your time and effort since it’s been a while. Always my favorite RC channel!
I got the Datsun street car, liked it so much I ordered the rally version a few days later. The Fazer range has some fantastic models in it, the classic Japanese cars look so detailed, have to hand it to Kyosho. They're so nice I think I'll run other bodies on them and keep the originals for the shelf. They sell the rally conversion kit so you can do this with any Fazer should you wish.
If Carlsburg made retro looking RC rally cars.....!!! Man!! For a guy of a certain age, growing up, lusting after owning an original Z car, that is a beautiful car. ❤️
I love my Fazer Rallies, I have the Suburu WRX & Datsun 280Z as well, The only thing I did was add the Light Kit, Gyro receiver, and sway bars on both, sway bars highly recommend.
YES! This was one of my most anticipated reviews from you, Craig. What a great surprise you were able to enjoy it so much. I've never in all the time in the channel seen you laugh of joy so much! If you'd put a few cones on that flat sandy surface, you'd be able to make a great short rally course! I'd also recommend to seal the electronics' cover by putting some velcro on the sides. I'm pretty sure it would greatly improve avoiding dirt ingress. Finally, would it be too much to ask to maybe make a short video showing the older radio to compare them more in detail? And if able to bind the older to the new car, do you feel any difference in the driving? Hey aren't these just a few ideas for a part 2 for this amazing RC? In case you hadn't realizd how much i love seeing it. Haha Great details and insight on the overview, as always. So appreciated!! Man, did it look gorgeous with the dust trsil behind it just like the real car on the UA-cam clips from the Safari rally it won...
Haha yes, I know you've been waiting for this one, Jorge! I have another rally one coming soon 😉 Love your energy and your ideas. I think Velcro is a winning solution to hold that dust cover down, too. Someone else suggested it and I reckon it'll be the way to go. I'll think about your suggestions. I'd be down to try more with this gorgeous car. Needs some lights, too.
@RCTNT It'd be a dream to see it again! Hey, wait a minute... another rally car? Aren't you maybe finally giving in into getting to enjoy this side of the RC, now...? 😏 Idk how often you're able to access the flat sandy area, but that is just perfect for rally driving and testing... Oh, did I just hear a timid echoing inside your head talking about a rally car comparison coming up in the horizon, after all the Short Course and Dessert trucks ones are done...? 😌 Haha! Be well, my friend! 👊🏻😃
I'm stoked you got this car! It's such a gorgeous vehicle. Kyosho did a fantastic job with the Datsun. I will be getting one at some point (I've been a good boy Santa!) and like you, I don't think it will be driven hard. It's just too pretty to risk damaging the body. It's the perfect car for a casual Sunday drive followed by ice cream. Thanks Craig, take care!
My 1st rc once my kid was grown and I got back in the hobby was the kyosho Camaro VE supercharged brushless and it is huge fun but I had to put a different body on it to keep from screwing up the Cool Camaro body. I plan on that Datsun being my next Kyosho because it is just outstanding in the detail.
Besides the excellent RC content, I’m here for the proper Bush Rig 👌 Cruiser with onboard air and a kicker out back. Proper mate 👍 I’m a second generation Cruiser head 😝
Hi Craig . You know I bought a Tamiya XV-01 1 month ago . I didn't even see that Kyosho had released rally models! I'm really happy with the Tamiya XV-01 , maybe I'll get a Kyosho next year....
@@RCTNT I don't know if I'll trade my XV-01! I have quite a few rc (some thanks to you and your good advice) especially tamiya and the xv-01 may well have become my favorite for rally. it's incredible to drive, the belt transmission is super smooth and very quiet. For Christmas I just ordered a tamiya Wild Willy wr02, a simply awesome thing. My first will remain my lunch box, it's an original (yes I'm old). the Frenchy.🙏
@@RCTNT Hoooo... I can't wait to see your test and see what you think! Don't forget that it's a kit and of course you'll have to paint and decorate the body. As usual at Tamiya a good day minimum to do everything. I'm in France but I buy in Germany at "Berlinski" they deliver worldwide and the prices are super reasonable. They have a lot of rc of all brands. Go see this store I think you'll be a winner price-wise.
Thanks for the advice! I'll have a look. (Ed. they won't ship to Australia. That's ok, I have rcmart in China and an eBay seller in Japan with stock. Thanks again for the tip!)
I have the Subaru WRC version of this car. I use it on the polished concrete car park of the building I live in. It is so much fun you can slide it around handles amazingly. I upgraded the diffs 4 bevels put gaskets and 4000 front and rear the upgraded drive shaft. Put 20 weight in the shocks but will change it back to 10 it squats down better and the weight transfer just looks cool. But that one looks cool on the dirt thanks for the video always enjoy listening to your opinion and advice look forward to the next one!
Some Velcro on the sides of the chassis and on the inside of the dust shield may make it more effective. I've been on the fence about ordering one of these, and I think you just pushed me over. I've been watching your vids for a while, and I've never heard you show that much laughter and joy during a run. Great vid as always, and I can't wait to get mine.
Kyosho done a great job with the body as usual, this model dosn't have a slipper on the spur gear. Unlike the Fazer Mad Van, which does have a slipper.
When you chuckle driving this car (or any other car), I know that I would do the same. I know the feeling. Among the UA-cam reviewers, you are one of the genuine ones. Stay that way, Craig. If you ever come to Canada, let me know. I would love to hang out.
Lovely looking car, Craig. Great review, and I see why you may want to keep it looking pretty. The drone shot was a nice addition, and looked really good. I just got my first rally car recently, the MJX Citroen, and it's a lot of fun. It's a bit small to run on the gravel roads in the woods near our house, unfortunately. Pebbles keep getting stuck in the steering. It is silly fast though, and hooning it around on the asphalt is more fun that I had expected. It's my first properly fast car, as most of my other ones are crawlers, and an old, slow-ish HPI E10 drift car (brushless converted, but still slow). Running the MJX on 3S was something completely new to me, and I destroyed one of the tire sets that came with it in like 10 minutes, driving it like an idiot on asphalt. haha.
@RCTNT I've always been skeptical to having a fast car. Im worried I'll break stuff. The MJX has held up great though. It even took all the punishment my eight year old gave it. 😅
I always bring my camera gear to comp days but rarely film. It's just fun to drive and hang with the guys. But if I'm making a video, even though my skills are still fairly basic, I'll keep doing my best! Slowly improving, anyway. Making a video is a job. A fun job, but a job. Driving for fun? Yeah, that's play. There's a difference!
If it isn't as fun, maybe it isn't worth the hassle? I guess it depends on the meaning you get from the videos you make, or want to make. There's no wrong answer, really. Keep having fun with it anyway!
The car’s a stunner and you’re right to be protective over such a beauty. I suppose you could always retire the body on an old chassis… I might have to get one. Anyway, great video, new sub gained.
It'd be a shame not to run it though. Maybe I'll have to drive carefully, to scale, for this one. There are a couple of other rally cars coming soon that I may be a little... tougher on! Cheers 👍
The "old" HPI RS4 Rally (which really should make a comeback) had a similar dust cover, but they wrapped the outer portions of it in velcro to help retain and seal it against the chassis, that might help cut down on dust getting beneath it with this one?
A beauty. Would set it up bit different probably (bit bouncy), and try to improve that dust cover but beautiful. Kyosho is doing great job with the looks departement although i think bodies are the "new gold" for manufacturers. These prices nowadays.... Pffff...
No joke. It's the replacement costs that are just bananas. I want to freshen up my old lifted TRX4 Bronco and the body will cost me similar money to buying a new SCX10 II Deadbolt -_-
What an absolute beaut , Craig! It takes a car that looks this good to really capture the imagination and make a more tame , scale driving style really fun! Imagine the fun that the gifted photographers and slow motion video guys could have kicking up roost!
2001 HDJ100 Landcruiser. She's had a bit of farkling under the hood and underneath, though I keep it looking grandpa spec. Bit of a sleeper, now. Just how I like em :)
Excellent video,as always. I have 2 fazors, the Toyota supra and the brushless charger. I keep the charger as a shelf queen. I punish the toyota, the fazors are so durable, I've gone full speed into a curb and only broke the after market wheels that I put on the car. Kyosho makes great rc cars. I just need to convince my wife that I need a third kyosho fazor lol
Nothing special: Pioneer TS-D12D4 12” Dual Voice Coil I spent about the same money on it as I did on sound deadening for the doors and panels. Built the enclosure with custom plans to suit this exact sub, and the entire system and amps are powered by my third battery under the hood. There's a 0 gauge welding cable that runs power down to the back of the vehicle, which I ran through rated circuit breakers. I can jump start a tractor from the back of my car now 😅
It's not a huge system but I picked each part carefully when I installed it all. Definitely has punch you can feel in your chest before you even connect the sub :)

Just. So. Satisfying! Drives beautifully, so smooth! Love the Fazer Mk2, Kyosho nailed it with this design 👌
The real 240z was an absolutely lovely car to drive 😊

Seriously, your idea of running these on the track in the wet is a winner, Simon. They'd be so fun!
