Taeyeon hated “Gee” the first time she heard it lmao she wanted to do a really strong concept and thought gee was too cute for her, even cried because she really didnt want to promote it but the song did extremely well! and it became the catchy anthem of kpop for a really long time, i believe she's at least fond of it now! lmao she performed it in the Begin Again TV Show! I recommend you watching it, it was a fun perfomance and she looked really happy :) i believe it will also change you perception of the song!

From what I knew, the whole nation of south korea, from kindergarten kids to middle aged man know and danced to this song, because of the mv everyone started wearing colored skinny jeans. Do you know that GEE was supposed to be a bside only? But SM had an issue with the title track which is Dancing queen, so they changed it to gee and they later released Dancing queen in 2013.
