Honestly, I commend the way everyone just came to a final decision on a solution for this situation, immediately. Nothing would have been worse than carrying this drama into early January, or so, as Spring Training approached. This is what it is, it's certainly not optimal, but it is what will happen and it needed to happen sooner than later. Play Ball!

Rays fan that moved from St. Pete to Tampa this summer. The humidity is going to be brutal but i'm very interested in seeing MLB games here. The 11k capacity at Tampa is 3k better than anything in Pinellas. Ive gone to a few Tarpons games and its perfectly fine as a short term replacement. Tarpons games are pretty empty, I imagine they play on side fields, or if it's a mutual deal, maybe they can play at the Rays ST training stadium in Port Charlotte.

Steinbrenner Field, which opened in 1996 as Legends Field, sits across Dale Mabry Highway from Raymond James Stadium. It provides the largest capacity (11,026) of the spring stadiums, along with 13 suites, several club areas, social spaces and cabana seating, plus other upgrades from a $40 million renovation prior to the 2017 season.
Equally appealing, it has much of the required major-league-standard equipment, facilities and amenities for players in place. As a result, the facility would require the fewest upgrades to meet MLB regular season and players association standards.

MLB should contract (subtract) two teams until the stadium situation is worked out. Two leagues, 14 teams each, two divisions each league, post season tournament to determine the world series. I'm personally a Rays fan who, in my opinion, feel like Rays fans on the Tampa side have been dramatic about the bridge. It's really not that big of a deal. I've lived on that side and commuted to Rays games. I've also lived on the St. Pete side and commuted to Tampa for Bolts and Bucs and never complained. Fans of other teams who live an hour+ away make the pilgrimage at least once or twice a year because you love your team, want to support them, and for many they chose to live where they do in proximity to the field, so get over it.
Now that the Rays will be playing in Tampa across from RayJay, fans better be filling that stadium up with 80%+ occupancy every night to give credence to this idea that the Rays have to put the stadium in Tampa. It'll be close for them, the people from Orlando and Lakeland now have a shorter commute, and the St. Pete folks have to commute anyway for sports game. If they don't routinely fill that stadium, I'm going to call BS on the whole "St. Pete is a bad location" idea. It's just that people don't go to games - but not for a lack of support mind you. It'll just show that the difference between Hillsborough and Pinellas won't be as big of a deal as folks are making it out to be.
On a side note, those games are going to be BRUTAL in the heat, and with all the rain. Hopefully not too many games get rained out. People used to love giving the Trop a hard time, but I think they are really going to miss it after this season.

I would suggest regarding “Rain Outs” at the outdoor TAMPA Ballpark that I if a one occurs against a Divisional Opponent then the RAYS should consider making up those games at the Away Stadium. This is possible because of the numerous times these teams will play each other throughout the season. All other Non-Divisional Opponents would have to attempt to play Double-Headers there in TAMPA. If these Make up Double-Headers are Single Admission then the RAYS would lose the Gate Revenue regardless so having additional games a Real MLB Stadium would benefit the Players.

I think the free agency is the least of their issues. (they were never major players in that anyway).. the facilities are already MLB standard.. probably better than Fenway or Wrigley (because they were built before WWI) because the Yanks do spend so much time there. The Tarpons.. at the worst can use a back lot field and upgrade some seating.. it is A-Ball anyway... They'll figure it out.

Average attendance is ~17k, so selling out all of the games still leaves 1/3 of the ticket revenue lost. All the seats look amazing at Steinbrenner though, but hard to make it up to lost luxury box lessors. If they can recoup $25M from insurance and if they can stay in the $56M budget and if they can amortize the $31M over 3 years instead of 2, the economic impact of patching Tropicana may be doable, but that is a lot of ifs.
