- In PAYDAY 3, the ECM Jammers work in a completely new and different way, compared to PAYDAY 2. Within this new system, is ECM Rushing still possible?
The fastest way to rush the Dirty Ice heist: easy completions to farm infamies, and also decent for Weapon XP. Done with minimum loot for fastest times.
As for how the new ECMs work: rather than blocking pagers, cameras, and calls, they simply slow down the speed at which pagers expire, and cameras detect you. It feels very different from PAYDAY 2 ECM Rushing because it's not just about placing the ECMs and sprinting through everything, but it still has the same feeling of coordinated roles, full speed, and some ECMs at the end for the point of no return.

So basically unless there is this very specific situation, ECM is next to useless.
That is correct yup! The only situation where ECMs are useful is when the entire crew agrees that the plan is to ECM Rush a heist. In regular stealth, the gadget is absolutely useless (which is nice, considering they were so OP in PAYDAY 2...).

@@MarcmbI am old player and came back to Payday 2 (I quit after Hoxton BO and minigun came out). I watched your Solo infamy farm videos already and now have a problem farming offshore money. Can you share the best one for solo-stealth player? 3 of them would be gladful. (I now run Murky Station, Diamond Store, Ukrainian Job and Shackleton Auction atm)
PS. If the heist is not DLC, it would be good. I have only a bit of DLC.
@@icy_spice Hey again IcySpice! Welcome back to PAYDAY 2, and glad to hear the XP farming videos are being helpful.
As for offshore money farming, Big Oil is an amazing choice if you're playing solo: the base payout is more than 18M, which is huge for a quick solo heist (with 3 bots for the loud part; see my guide for details). Highest difficulty of course: DS is ideal if it shows up on CrimeNET, because then you avoid the offshore buyout cost of 3.5M. Bring a SAW to DAY1 because there are a lot of ATMs in the basement: there are so many, in fact, that looting the last one goes beyond the "LOOSE CASH" limit set by the game, giving you the maximum amount you can get from any heist.
First World Bank is extremely easy and pays 7.5M. The following options are also great, but all DLC, so you might have only some of these: Big Bank and Scarface (both all loot) also reach the ~16M payout. Alesso pays 13M and is full stealth. The Diamond (minimum loot) is quick and pays 8M.
If you have a 2-4 player team who enjoys rushing, you can also go for Shadow Raid: aim for maximum loot (rather than fastest XP), and don't forget the armor for maximum cash. Easy ~20M in a quick rush too.
Finally, if you want some more variety and you have a 4-player team, you can rush Border Crossing too, for a ~40-50M cash reward (but takes much longer than Shadow Raid).

Let’s go I’ve been anticipating marcmb payday 3 content since the pd2 stealth guides were my favourite, really good tutorials and helped me out a ton! With how different stealth is in pd3 I imagine we won’t be getting the exact same type of videos cause stealth is so dynamic and immersive now most people are more likely to just be able to play it without needing a full in depth guide but I’d sure love to see maybe some tips/tricks for some of the heist

As you say, stealth is now a lot more versatile and forgiving (especially in non-secure areas), but I'll definitely still make one guide for each of the heists! Focusing on the important details, at least :)

I find ECMs are bit useless when compared to the alternatives. Hidden cams are always a solid option to keep eyes on a specific area or a guard's route, tripwires are good for passively keeping tabs on guards, and stun mines can stall guards.
Slower cam detection and pagers doesn't seem worth it by comparison.
Absolutely yup! If you're going to _stealth,_ the utility of the Spycams or the Motion Sensor is infinitely superior. ECMs are only good if the entire crew agrees that the goal of the lobby is _not to play sneaky, but to ECM rush,_ and in this situation their use is still quite limited, simply extending the final part of the heist slightly to be able to finish in stealth (for quick completion challenges). But of course, the entire strategy needs to be coordinated, and everyone must bring ECMs to stack the effect.
@@Marcmb While I do get using them to help with stealth rushes, if a team is rushing just for the sake of rushing then they seem unnecessary on any map with a decent civ pool. Just having one player with hostage perks function as a safety net can buy you around 2 extra minutes before the first assault.
But then again Payday 3 is still very early in to it's lifespan, so I'm confident future updates and more time for players to experiment will allow for new rush methods.
@@geograymon55 No no you didn't understand: when I mentioned quick completion challenges, I was referring to the fact that the game does not reward you for simply completing the heists. Instead, it gives you XP for completing heists _in a certain way:_ as you point out, loud completions are a lot easier because the margin for error is huge (negotiation time, trading civs, etc...) so the point of the ECMs is to extend the stealth phase to escape before the alarm, because with this current system you only care about the challenges.

Finally a video about this method! Was tired of seeing all the damn 'how to do x heist quickly' but its seeded videos.
Unseeded is the most important thing, because you will have to do each heist like 300 times to get all the challenges. So the less overall time the better.

Thank you very much Kenny! Absolutely agree on the seeded part: every time I see someone mentioning fast runs or good times, it's often for seeded runs... which is cool for the speedrun aspect, but for practical runs it's absolutely useless!

It is a bit sad, for sure. Although realistically, the ECMs were way too powerful in PAYDAY 2, so it's nice that their initial balance is much better this time. It should still be possible to rush quite a few heists, so stay tuned for more!
As for the current state of the game, definitely don't buy yet... The gameplay is 10/10, but the systems and UI need a lot of work, and the server delay to start any solo heist is quite painful... Luckily I'm playing both 2 and 3 for now, so it's not too bad :D
@@mauer1 Also very good poins yup! For now their implementation is quite good: not overpowered (unlike PAYDAY 2), and they have some niche uses. If they need rebalancing in the future, the devs always have the option of making new skill lines to upgrade ECMs in some ways :D
@@Marcmb that's the other point ecms only really got insane because of hacker.
When suddenly maps that are not rushable got rushable because you could add ticks with ecm downtime or the overall ecm time is now over the map duration.
@@MarcmbIt also makes sense from a time standpoint. Better tech, better security, better understanding of the heisters themselves and how they operate = reduced effectiveness.

I have plans for stealth guides, starting with NRFTW in about ~2-3 uploads. I'll cover the 7 stealth heists first, and then perhaps Road Rage, we'll see!

I think so too yup! As long as your team knows what to do, you get it for free every single run, even without previous RNG knowledge about the codes.
I wish you could continue your solo infamy farming for Payday 2 without DLC heist (Like Murky Station) because your vidoes are so goooood that make me finish lots of stealth heist solo that I never thought I could finish them.

A lot has been said about the stealth in Payday 3, and outside of the boring circle junk, I feel like it has some good bones. I really like the new hacking stuff, feels in line with the higher tech everything in this game.
And yeah it's simpler than PD2, but I feel like with time they will get comfortable with this new engine to do some wild stuff with it.
Yes! I personally really like the new camera loop, the ability to cycle through cams to use them for info or to loop cams from far away, and the new use of the ECMs to fully disable cameras when placed close to them. Overall the stealth has a lot of potential for cool gameplay :D
For now I'm enjoying PAYDAY 2 more because of the community, but I'm sure PAYDAY 3 will be great in the near future too!
Love the hitman like stealth, or at least thats how i see it.
In some aspects it feels more like Hitman than PAYDAY 2, yeah! The sound lures, the emphasis on casing mode... it's certainly very different from the prequel, which is quite nice :)

I'm waiting to see how PD3 gets improved over the next year before buying, but I'm glad to see you're still able to speedrun these heists. Have you got plans to do the same for other heists? I'd be interested in Nightclub No VIP pass myself, having seen McBadass run it.
Good choice! The gameplay is very good, but the systems need a lot of work still, so the game will be a lot better next year.

Excellent question Warmonger! I plan to continue playing both, so the content will most likely be a 50:50 mix of both. Unless a majority wants me to focus on one of the two, in which case I could probably go for that :p

I was very disappointed when I found out how bad the ECM's are now, especially as a solo player. When I need weapon XP or money I just do Rock the Cradle, I can do it in about a minute and a half but with a full team you could probably do it in a minute, maybe less.
In some ways it is disappointing yup, considering they were by far the best deployable in PAYDAY 2, but now they are quite weak. It's nice though, since they are good enough for some niche rushes, without being way too overpowered... We'll see how many more we can rush in the near future!
As for Rock the Cradle, it's one of my favorite solo heists! I think my best so far is a 2:15 on a fresh run (no previous RNG knowledge), but with a full team it can indeed be much faster :D

Hey Welkin! You can absolutely do the exact same thing without ECMs, since this heist is quite short. However, the ECMs are often necessary to ensure you escape in stealth (you have a long time window to escape even after the alarm goes off, but you want actual _stealth completions_ for the challenge XP, so that's the main reason to bring ECMs).
Can't belive Marcmb didn't post ultimate stealth guides...
I have one of those guides being worked on right now, which should be ready in a couple of weeks! I'll start with the beginner heist (No Rest For The Wicked), and then move on to the more interesting ones like Rock the Cradle, Touch the Sky, Surphaze...
it's a shame, I would have loved to re-discover the real "hold up" in for example no rest for the wicked, I feel like there is only 2 playsyles in this PD long and risky stealth or loud, which is also long, there is no quick mission like in PD2 the jewlery heist, I learned how to play out of this heist
That's true that it can't be applied to all the heists, currently there's only 3 or 4 that can be rushed in a similar way to this. However there's always the possibility that devs will change things up in the future, so we'll see! :D

Hey Spans! That is a very good point, and the devs completely dropped the ball on this one. However, you do get a whole bunch of Infamy Points when you reach certain "Completion Milestones" (e.g., 10 / 15 / 20 / ... completions on Overkill, auto-completed for lower difficulties) so in this sense you do get XP for every completion, although the devs implemented it in the worst way possible.

Haha yup! 65 with the "loud" escape (so after alarm), and another ~80 in stealth, just on this heist! I easily reached Infamy 100 without grinding a single Combat challenge :p
good thing ecms didn't get removed in pd3 just nerfed :D
I think this is the best case scenario, yup! They were way too powerful in PAYDAY 2, but I'm very thankful that they weren't fully removed :D

Until recently yes! After playing the PAYDAY 3 Beta, it became clear that I needed to upgrade (my PC was nearly 8 years old at this point...) so I bought a new one! Much much better setup now :D

It's certainly a very interesting system! For now we've only seen three (Titan Cams, Lead Guard, Camera Loop Duration lowered to 5s), but the devs mentioned during the Dev Diaries that they have plans to add more, and have some kind of rotating system, which should keep things interesting :D
@@Marcmb To note, Cerberus Core is ALL runtimes, of course you kind of only run camera loops but route ping is considered a runtime and gets cut down to 5
@@irisprojects Ah, very interesting! I've tried using the Routed Pings on Surphaze and they never mark anyone for me, so I'm not sure if the skill is working properly anyway... Apparently it has an unintended effect where marking guards through the Camera Operator computer will keep those guards marked forever (up to 3 marks as usual), if you have the Routed Ping skill.

Yup it's not too bad though, because they were by far the most overpowered deployable in PAYDAY 2, so at least now they are more balanced!

Curious how you knew to enter 0 first in the last run example? Is there some guaranteed digit, or was it just a lucky guess?
Excellent question Underscore! Just a lucky guess: in order to save some time I enter one digit immediately, then keep my cursor close to the reset button, so that I can clear the code quickly if my guess was wrong :)
@@Marcmb is it optimal tho? If I understand correctly this results in 25% chance for a key press saved and 75% for an extra key press needed.
@@Raykon333 Very good question! The most optimal is probably to have your mouse equidistant to all 4 possible digits, but I'm bad at quick precise mouse movements, so that's not ideal for me.
Furthermore, in the 75% of scenarios where your guess is wrong, the main time loss doesn't come from the extra input, but from having your camera starting from a corner rather than the center (since you just press F before moving your mouse, doesn't really add any time).

Interesting question BladeCross! On release, I probably liked PAYDAY 2 more because it was my first time playing a stealth heisting simulator. For the base mechanics, I think PAYDAY 3 might be a bit better (or perhaps just because it's new and fresh), but considering that PAYDAY 3 still needs a lot of development to improve reward balance, server stability, lobby creation speed, levelling systems, basic functionality for co-op communication, and more... I have to say that I like PAYDAY 2 more.

gonna be honest here:
i tried playing payday 3, it is really just so much less fun than payday 2. payday 2 was very easy to grasp and anyone could have fun in it, whether with friends or without.
payday 3 on the otherhand feels wayyyy too serious, and it feels a lot less multiplayer than payday 2.
I personally like the new mechanics (all the things you can now do in casing mode, new gadgets, new heists...), although I haven't played a single public heist yet (always playing in friends-only lobbies) so I can't comment on that... However, when you're playing with either friends, or good heisters who know what they are doing, there's a lot of multiplayer / co-op aspects, such as being able to lure guards away for your team, hacking into the cameras to face away from your teammates, staying unmasked to move lootbags easily through guarded areas, etc...

Hey Kyrylo! Watch out for the wording because that's where your misunderstanding comes from. In PAYDAY 2, ECMs
**BLOCK** pagers, calls, and cams. In PAYDAY 3, neither of these is **BLOCKED,** but pagers and cams are **DELAYED.**
So this is how you get the achievement for beating it in under 2 mins.
That's one of the ways to do it yup! Very easy with this strategy, definitely :D
I actually did it last night with my friend. Not exactly this method but it was fun trying to speedrun it. I was on normal tho cuz I'm a scrub.

Hey Gunner! The code door is always locked, and then the door to the lever room is indeed RNG. In the first showcased run it was open (very simple), and then in the 2nd showcased run it was closed: you can see I sprint as usual to lure the guard staring at the door, then use the Infiltrator ACE skill to get Rush reliably, and open it very quickly

Hey lusien! Not anymore, my old setup only worked on lowest settings so I upgraded for PAYDAY3. I'm now on a much much better setup!

They are 100% a lot weaker yup! It's not too bad though, considering they were absolutely OP in PAYDAY 2. For now they only have a few uses, but they might get some changes in the future, we'll see :D
So you are saying pd2's ecms were useful but on pd3, its a waste
In PAYDAY 2 they were by far the best deployable, with nothing else coming even close for the main deployable in co-op stealth (many choices for secondary deployable though). In PAYDAY 3 they can only extend the stealth phase by a few seconds, so they only shine in some niche rushes that can be done either very quickly, or mostly unmasked!

why even use ecm at this point?
Excellent question GG! The same strategy can be done effortlessly without ECMs, especially if you avoid masking up for as long as possible.
However, for efficient Infamy Farming, you want to prioritize stealth completions first, over the loud ones -- the extra delay at the end helps a lot to ensure you will be able to get the stealth escape, to optimize the farming as much as possible.
How are people already level 100 😂
Mostly heist completions! About 10 OVK completions on each heist (mostly stealth, but you can fully stealth and then trigger the alarm before escaping for an easy 10 loud completions), and then a bunch of solo Cradle, and Dirty Ice ECM rushing :D

I wouldn't say they are ruined! They were extremely extremely powerful back in PAYDAY 2 (always the best choice, if you knew how to use them), so the fact that they are more balanced now is quite nice :D
Men, after watching some payday 3 vidoes, it just feels so inferior to pd2. Maybe after 10 years of pd3 my opinion will be different, but for now pd2 is simply better game.
PAYDAY 2 is absolutely superior currently yup! The mechanics in PAYDAY 3 are very good, and it's new and fresh which makes it fun, but they need to work a lot on reward balance, server stability, lobby creation speed, levelling systems, basic functionality for co-op communication, and more...

Half true, but half incorrect! We do indeed drop the deployables to complete more challenges, but simply completing the heist would eventually give heist challenges by itself, so the deployables are just a bonus :)

Hey Selphie! That is a shame, because many people are in your same situation where their PC can run PAYDAY 2, but not 3... in any case, many of us went back to PAYDAY 2 because it still has so much fun content, so hopefully you can enjoy that still! :D

Certainly Pho! The old rushes are still quite fun (especially when optimized to the maximum), but this new gameplay is a lot less forgiving, which is very nice :)

It certainly has a lot of things to fix before it can catch up in terms of quality yup!
Quality and design choices are different I would argue. Having a boring skill system is a crime. How could they fuck this up?@@Marcmb
Personally I enjoyed the researching skills during my first few days, and the skill system isn't too bad although more choices would be nice. Regardless, every few years the devs rework either the skill system or the individual skills, so I'm expecting they'll do the same with PAYDAY 3 whenever they get solid feedback on it!@@ghjkhb

Possibly the easiest one yup! Rock the Cradle is also quite easy, and most of the time the heists have no reward for bonus loot, so everything is quite quick in PAYDAY 3 :D
Also by the way, I still remember that I have some unread DMs from you Oliver (so many DMs from different people, because I've been extremely busy with IRL and content planning ever since PAYDAY 3 released), so hopefully I can go through my DMs in the very near future! Sorry about the delay...
Damn might yave to try this since doety ice is so easy and fast to complete but sadly since i ahev no crew it might take a while but hey whatever
It's really fun to play! It's not very necessary because the heist is very easy in solo, but it's certainly even faster, if you can find 3 competent players :D
