Wow, it was pretty surreal to see two Whose Line originals paired up with the later-season inheritors of the show. Everything seemed to clash - the nationalities, the clothes, the comedic styles, most interesting.
Watching from the bizarro future world of 2020, I can't believe how young Stephen looks (and yes, I know when this was filmed!) Another golden escape-from-covid find!
I think he was intended to stay on, but the producers didn't let him and Laurie's friend Emma Thompson on the show. So there was a bit of bad blood I guess.
"Dynasty" was an American nighttime soap opera popular in the 80's. In the 80's, women wore huge pads in the shoulders of their blouses and jackets to make them larger (inexplicably). The joke was the he was making fun of the style he was given.
You know this may be one of the only episodes of Whose Line, both UK and US, where Ryan and Colin are actually overshadowed by the other two performers. Josie and Stephen have so much chemistry here and Stephen is an absolute laugh either way.
Has nobody else noticed that Ryan is walking funny? It looks like his back must have been WAY out of whack or he's favoring a hip at least. Poor guy must be in awful pain - yet there he is, working! What a trooper!
Well it's true he's had a bad back for most of the US show, probably from being so tall. And from carrying Drew and others for so long. He's 1.98 and 61 now, seemingly not participating in games that require being moved a lot anymore.

"Is the Parthenon in Athens?" classic Sorma, I like how you provide lists of the games in every segment :) Stephen is so droll. Love him. He also worked quite extensively with Hugh Laurie from "House" quite extensively in years past. I just now got the joke of him ripping out her shoulderpads during the "Dynasty" segment. Clever!

Stephen Fry is one of the few non-Australians I've come across who can actually pull off an Aussie accent. Josie's also quite good at it but she can't beat Gabriel Iglesias' Croc Hunter impression. (considering I'm Australian)

Why were so many of the performers on the show American even long before the producers moved it to Los Angeles? By this time in the UK run, the cast was usually over half American (this episode is an exception). I never understood that. (As an American I don't mind that they did since we'd never have had Whose Line US without the established set of American performers who were already veterans of the UK show. ) I use "American" in the continent sense here (to include Canada).
have you not seen any of his work? He's a comedy great. It seemed to me that he was playing on being called and intellectual in his intro. It's an improv show, you do whatever comes to mind, it's not like he planned it out to make himself look good.
Forgive me for not knowing who Stephen Fry is, but he seems completely out of place here. Like a British version of Dennis Miller. Seemed like he felt this form of entertainment was beneath him.
