95% of my holiday decor is thrifted or rescued from being tossed out. I LIVE for finding antique, vintage, and retro Xmas decor and other’s DIY holiday projects… I’ve gotta keep an eye out for these Putz houses now!! Thanks for the project ideas!!
Good luck! They're hard to find because they were so delicate unless somebody really took care of them. They are usually smashed. Also, when you find them they're pretty pricey because of how delicate they are but good luck to you. I would love to find just one that I can buy just as an example
What a wonderful video -- I just love the putz houses! And I truly enjoyed hearing about your uncle Armando and your other family, relating to the putz houses. The finished ones are adorable! Thanks for the inspiration! ❤🌲🏠
Annie, that memory with your Uncle is priceless. That makes this whole thing extra meaningful. I am so happy you have tat memory for your Christmas madness at the Dearing estate this year. Those Putz houses are so beautiful, he would be proud. So glad you're taking all the extra precautions for the baby girls. God bless ya'll . I love you.❤
Thank you so much! Big hugs to you Lola. Yeah it means a lot to me that I can Make these little houses. I do hope I made him proud. He would have loved seeing me decorating the beautiful deering estate
So adorable! 🏡 We used to say ‘putzing around’ as well. Thanks for sharing the origin of these and their name! I love these so much, I can’t wait to see how you decorate that room. I am confident that it’s going to be fantastic! Hugs 🤗❤️
Oh my gosh, your putz houses are so adorable and unique! I can't believe how you colorized the iridescent glitter with mica powder to make individualized colors for your village! Great👍idea! 😁❤
I'm in Canada and have never been able to find any authentic putz houses so I am making my own, using wooden bird houses from the dollar store. I purchased some cardboard kits to make as well. Your colors are wonderful.
Hey Annie, I never heard of these Putz Houses before, love this video, very informative. They turned out so beautiful. Thanks for hosting this collaboration and having me. 🩷🩷🩷
These are s9 adorable Annie. They all look so gorgeous and I can’t wait to see them all set up in the room. You should be very proud of yourself Annie! You did the Alice in Wonderland room and now this one. Plus whatever else you’ve done that I never knew about. Your work Is just amazing and stunning, no matter what you do. I think I can speak for all of us on here being PROUD of you and your work and if I’ve upset someone by mentioning all of us then I apologise. TFS Annie and hope your weekend is as awesome as you are ♥️♥️♥️
Thank you so much Pamela. I truly appreciate you. Last year was the first year that I was invited to be a designer decorator and this is my second year so it means the world to me that I was invited again. Also, I'm one of the only decorators that makes my own items. Some of them use professional printers for some things but I'm the only one that Pan makes my ornaments
That little printer worked perfectly to print out the pattern! Your houses are going to look fabulous in your Vintage Christmas themed room. Best wishes on this grand event❤
Your little houses turned out so cute Annie! I love anything mini and these retro little cuties fit the bill. I had never heard of them before but now they are on my radar for sure!!! So adorable! Thanks so much for sharing and for hosting this fabulous collab!!!🎄🤗😊💖💖💖
Oh my goodness! Yeah this was such a tradition in my house when I was a little girl and because my uncle was so crafty of course he decided to make them himself. Thank you so much for watching and for always keeping me inspired my friend. God bless you
These are absolutely precious. I can’t wait to see all of your lovely creations for the estate. Tfs. Have a wonderful rest of your weekend sweet friend 💕
Aww! They bring back so many memories of growing up! You did a perfect recreation of these houses!! I will recreating these. Not a fan of glitter but I can spray them. Thank you for sharing your talents with us!!❤️
Wow love these houses and the glitter is beautiful ❤❤❤❤ I don’t think the glitter card stock would of been as good. Your hard work really paid off. I can’t believe you are always doing these amazing things for work and I sure hope we will get to see your finished work. I just know it’s going to be stunning ❤❤❤
Thank you so much 🤗 actually the decorating of the deering estate I was selected and it's completely volunteer. So that also means all the expenses are totally mine. That's why I have to rely on making stuff. Obviously I don't have hundreds of dollars for a budget
Love your Putz houses, Annie! I'm def making some this year! Mixing the mica in with the glitter is genius! I'm loving the Atomic Christmas theme this year!! You know, it's my favorite!! Always inspiring! I can't wait to see the room when it's finished! TFS, gf!! 💖💖💖
I've known about these putz houses for a while, but not what putz means and when they were popular. Plaster (for houses) is called puts in swedish. So I could've figured it out. If I hadn't got my mind set on one day living in a gingerbread house, I'd love to live in one of your sparkling houses.😅 New subscriber. Yay!
Interesting enough. They are creating a gingerbread house kind of feel in the kitchen of the house, so it's going to seem like you're inside an actual gingerbread house with giant candies inside
Love your houses and love how sparkly they turned out. Great tip to add Mica powder into the glitter. I made some smaller houses like this with a die and my big shot machine last year. They are so fun to make!! 😊
I don’t know that I’ve ever heard of Putz houses! Watching you put it together makes me think of it as a puzzle and I love working puzzles! It’s SO pretty! Thanks so much for hosting this collaboration!!
I am trying to do a vintage themed Christmas this year. I'm struggling, but these putz houses are on my list. Loved your story and the houses turned out amazing. I'm so glad I found your channel!
I'm in the process of making my own putz village and you have inspired me even further. Thanks so much and have a great holiday season!! (can't believe I'm saying that already)
Oh, I love Putz houses! You did such an amazing job! I should have thought about a house plan to cut out to make my church for the July playlist. But, I did it the old fashioned way (the hard way) and designed it myself. lol Thanks for hosting!
Oh that's right, but it's so much better when you have the actual designs, especially since some of these styles were made after the original antique one. Thanks again for joining me!
Hey Annie, I kn 10:21 ow you said you can't use tinsel, but what about paper shreds in silver covered in glitter. Speaking of German expressions, our neighbors, growing up, always said " come here by me." for come here. They still do, all 8 of the kids. I'm 1/2 German myself . They're full German. Still friends for over 65 yrs.😊
These are beautiful! I've had plans for a village all printed out, but just haven't gotten around to them. Something always seems to take precedence, like finishing my Christmas cards.
Sadly, I don't know of anybody that still sends cards in my social circles, but maybe take an afternoon and just make one little house for yourself. It's so fun thanks again
This is all sooooooo cute! I hope I can make some of these. Thank you for sharing them all. P.S. When I saw your cut out I thought it was wooden So great!
@@IndieAnnieJones1 Oh, okay. Well you shared a nice video, but I don't have anything like you do to make anything like this $$$ Thank you as always for sharing what you can make/do 😊
Not sure of the brand (Tim Holtz?), had miniature house die cuts, that I used with my Sizzix Big Shot. Not to mention, there are a lot of patterns available online that could be transferred to card stock and cut with an exacto knife. I grew up with these Putz villages, with lead reindeer, sisal trees ... our Christmas tree was a white feather tree, to my child's eye, it was the most beautiful thing in the world.
That's amazing you had a feather tree in your family that's from the Victorian age what a treasure I hope you can check out the link with the designs for all the houses and so many more thanks again
@IndieAnnieJones1 Thank you, honestly, I wish my parents had kept it ... that said, it probably would be in ver sad condition today. It was probably sometime in the mid 60s, they replaced it with an aluminum monstrosity. Eep! Hmm, now, I'm inspired to dig out the old photos ... I am sure the passage of time has only enhanced my memories of those childhood Christmases. Perhaps it's those memories that have made me appreciate what is now vintage vs. what my parents likely considered hand-me-downs and make dos. On a side note, I still have a couple of those lead reindeer, mom's old creche (mismatched nativity characters, German, Italian and Woolworth, lol!), and ornaments, and every year they are put on display, pride of place. Again, thank you for triggering these wonderful memories. This little old lady loves what you do.

When I was growing up in the late 50's and 60's we had putz houses. Unfortunately, because they were cardboard and cellophane for the windows, they didn't last very long.
They were so delicate. Same thing here. That's why I made my houses out of a little thicker cardstock. It's a millimeter thick. A bit harder to cut but with the right tools you can do it. Thanks for watching. So glad it brought back memories
I really love your creations and I love watching and listening to your videos! I wanted to give a little caution - please, use a mask when using mica powder. It can be harmful to your lungs. Those little particles are so light and can be breathed in very easily. Take care!

Hi, you didn't explain what the lights inside are? Can you show that? Also, what is that tip you have on the e6000? Thank you! Inspiring video~
Aw, thank you so much! You are the sweetest comments like yours and others always keeps me inspired
I'm curious as to when you added the hairspray. Did you wait until they were completely finished?
Yes, I did. I actually waited till I finished everything so that if there was glitter on the trees or anything nothing would come off.
Is this paper thicker than scrapbooking cardstock? The link you gave to Temu makes you choose between different weights
Yes it's actually 1 mm. I wanted to make the houses sturdy enough since they're going to be moved around and they're going to be on display. I was afraid of people handling them if I just used regular cardstock.
As I mentioned in the video, I did use my laser cutter to help me cut out the designs more efficiently since I was making many of them. Thanks again for watching
What sealer did you use for glitter?
You could also use hairspray but I use krylon gloss clear sealant
Where did you get the tip for your E6000?
I bought that e6000 that comes with these little tips. I bought it at the hobby lobby. They're specifically for jewelry and small miniatures. It comes with different tips that you can replace if they get clogged. Good luck
The windows are called dormer windows.
Oh yeah, thank you!

Congratulations on asked to decorate a room in the mansion.
Thank you! 😊 I have been volunteering in one way or another during the Christmas season for the last 6 years so it wasn't overnight but it was so worthwhile
So would it be very un-Putz-ish to not glitter these up? I just hate dealing with glitter!
Not at all. You can use glitter glue and you won't feel the glitter at all. You can also buy cardstock that already looks like glittered paper or you can make it any way you'd like with just bright colors or more subdued colors. It's up to you. Thanks for watching
