Agreed, I love Little Wing but One Rainy Wish is Jimi's most beautiful song imo the energy, the mood, the setting, the story... Both lyrically and musically it tells such a vivid tale... One of Jimi's best songs imo.
This is such an great performance of this song, I keep coming back to it. Eric makes the song his own while paying a great tribute to the original. I really wish I could’ve seen this live. Incredible.
This is it. Numerous "lessons" around here how to play "One Rainy Wish" they all skip on that tricky first chord of the tune, that chunky E6 chord, which should be thumbed over and used a partial barré. Not many people plays this. Eric does. Hendrix did too of course... people taking the easy way out.
Amazing rendition of a not frequently played Hendrix song, even though I'm not a huge fan of the vocal style displayed here. But you can tell he clearly worked on it big deal. pretty pleasing to listen to anyway
Eric started singing relatively late so far as singing goes, and I'm not sure what level of coaching he's had, or what his inspirations are. I'd like to hear you do it better.
There are just some guitarists who make playing the guitar look and seem quite complicated. It almost hurts me to watch them play. Eric Johnson is one of those guitarists. An excellent player... but, painful to watch. Discouraging to anyone of whom did not know any better. On the other hand---- Jimi made it look like nothing. And sounded beautifully sweet. One of my favorite songs.. One Rainy Wish. From Axis : Bold As Love. My favorite Jimi & Experience album.
One of my absolute fave Hendrix songs.Little Wing gets all the attention off Axis but I always loved this one more.Well done EJ.

i wish jeff healey made a cover
Hendrix had so many amazing songs....!
Jimi never got the credits he deserved as a Lyricist.. One Rainy Wish is Jimi's lyrical masterpiece...
Agree 100%! Great lyrics in this song! Jimi could write. Especially his slower melodic songs.
agree - love Axis...
Jimmy was one of those phenomenal musicians that only come every 50 years
Imho, it's one of them. I really love the lyrics in May This Be Love, too.
@@juicicles5881 It's glorious
Great song resurrected by a great player. This song shows the genius of both Jimi snd Eric.
The eric johnson experience!!

Playing lead and singing at the same time, not everybody can do that.
Underated Hendrix tune. Fuck Voodoo Child and Purple Haze, give me "One Rainy Wish" and "May this be Love"
1000% THIS.
that riff in the middle part of the song when he says "and you stolleeeee my heart away" takes me to another dimension
Agree
Don’t forget “Angel”
Brilliant !
Eric Johnson is a Great Player .
the solo at the beginning makes me feel like I'm actually dreaming. well done.
The Jimi Hendrix Experience... such a great band.
Thank you rhymeo77 - yes I shot this at an Experience Hendrix show. EJ was off the charts

Great tribute Eric, say those lyrics with your chest, Jimi did

ERIC JOHNSON ES UN ALQUIMISTA DE LA GUITARRA, SU GENIO ES UN IMPREDECIBLE ACTO DE MAGIA Y ELEGANCIA.
& you were not leaving the MIM without looking into my eyes. I was pleased with that Eric. Really pleased. So in love with you.
chris layton on drums and a version that is something !!!!

can you give a timestamp?
Great !
did you video this ? and if so how ? thanks for posting !
my goodness how does he do those artificial harmonics so fast. curse you, ej!
That's SLOW compared with Tommy Emmanuel. Check out his version of "Over The Rainbow". It's sick.
He wasn't a mallrat. He practiced.
Jesse Pinkman as bassman

I like his voice. I think it's pleasant, I'm not super critical of singing. I just want to hear something real and authentic when it comes to vocals.
@@Diax1324 I didn't sing any Hendrix on my channel so far but there's a few videos of me singing anyway. You're welcome to watch if you want
What pedals is he using for that tone?
alot
TC Electronic for his verbs,
Jesse on bass...thought he was in Alaska
Real monotone vocals😂
aaron paul

RANDY!RANDY!!!!!!!
One of Hendrix's best tunes, homogenized here by Johnson.
Fail at 1:22 is egregious.

Then theres Erics weak mealy vocals. With all the passion of a turtle.
Then close your eyes and listen because the last time I checked music is listened to not watched
Nobody plays as easily as Jimmy
is he a robot ?
