  • Mackay police conduct a re-enactment with Ringo Tapim, who witnessed Shandee Blackburn shortly after she was attacked in 2013.
Ringo Tapim will never forget the horror and chaos that unfolded the night he walked on to a first-floor balcony and saw a young woman staggering across the street below.
Tapim was at his father’s apartment in Boddington Street in Mackay watching a horror film when he heard choking sounds outside just after midnight. What unfolded in the early hours of the morning on Saturday, February 9, 2013, was worse than anything on screen.

So upsetting Ringo. At least you were there for her in her last moments.

I’m confused… because he says that he asked his partner for the phone and they were watching TV, and then later on after explaining what he “saw”, he says, “I asked for the phone”, when heading back inside from outside he says he ran back inside, he said Mary was asleep and he grabbed the phone…. 🤔

@@Melaninmagicxthis is why witness testimony is so flawed. Our brains work in very interesting ways during stress or confusion, is starts adding information where it may have been previously murky or unsure of what to think. It’s almost a coping mechanism.

It also happens when your brain can't comprehend what your eyes are seeing. Your brain will bury the bits that are too traumatic, until it's triggered. It's the same mechanism as Dissociative Personality Disorder. Your brain is trying to protect itself.

@@Melaninmagicx I’m guessing he didn’t notice she had fallen asleep on the couch when he asked her for phone, when he came back in again he noticed and grab the phone himself. Im sure he’d have been panicked and rushing around to see what was going on, could easily have missed if she’d drifted off to sleep while they watched tv.

Good work, Ringo. You nailed it. I love your work. Truthful and enlightening. I have to admit, I'm a fan of the Beatles so I Iove Ringo Starr but you were great. Really good and I admire your courage and faith. Great work!
