I always thought counter-wrapping resulted in a more durable fly since the ribbing material better covers the frail quill or other body material. Is this not your opinion, Charlie?
    Beautiful fly, BTW.

This is one of Charlie's fly presentations where we get a glimpse of how fast he can tie a fly if he is working at his normal speed. That realization doubles my admiration for his abilities.

That's a busy tie and Charlie makes it look so damn easy! Nice one.

Gee's I tied something similar using Hare'Ear Mask and just a Grizzly for the hackle, Last week in April on the Beaverkill in 1991 the Mothers Day Hatch came early that year and the fish would not leave it alone, a hook up on ever drift. Never had anything like it up to that point, The whole week was gangbusters. Along with Sparkle Duns. One brown trout almost broke the Magic 30" mark, to this day I am still trying for one close but no cigar. It just might be what I tied, saw it in Fly Fishman some times in 1989 or 90. I had a hell of a time with parachutes back then. My old 8'6" Sage RP II 5 weight got a lot of use that year. It was one of my five best years on the water. 29 years ago and it was like it was yesterday. I will be seeing you about a Cree Neck next month Uncle Sugar is going to send me some extra cash!!

Very nicely done. Thank you for the techniques with the wire and tying in the hackle. Finally, a procedure that appears will hold up to numerous caught fish. I really like your pattern, and I am looking forward to tying it.

Charlie's ties are unmatched...regardless of that southpaw thing he does. And the funk, very nice.

Charlie - don't you want to oversize your hackle on a parachute so it extends to the end of the body for a pontoon effect? Please advise, thanks!

wyomingtrout meh...I usually use straight up sizing on my parachutes so a 16 on a 16. You can certainly oversized if you like but you my eye it makes the fly seem big.

Two years ago at a small fly tying show in Brewer ,Me a local shop owner was demonstrating securing posted hackles without thread. He put a drop of Solarez thick on the post , wrapped the hackle and cured the Solarez. I have been using this method since then . So far none have unraveled!

Big fan of yours.....you always make it look so flipping easy. Another one of your tricks is always putting on the right amount of dubbing, or not touching the dubbing once it’s applied. Beautiful tie!
