He basically only ran a 5 yard hitch or drag route all year. The few times he ran deeper routes it didn’t work out. Still has some potential but not fast at all.
The bigger concern for me is he was drafted for his soft hands and ability to make tough grabs through contact. Those were noticeably worse this year. He's always catching the ball into his body which he never did in school and that's allowing defenders to knock balls away, as we saw on the last INT. Body catch in traffic, the defender hits Bell from behind and the ball is popped up for a freebie. Totally unacceptable. And given his lack of playmaking upside this year he needs a total transformation in year two, which I wouldn't count on given the regression Watson experienced.
What I can see he has good hands, and he catches what is thrown to him almost always. He could be a possession receiver, and with the upgrade to the receiving core this year he has a lot more potential to be open in different seams in the defenses.
The upgrades in the receiver room may also mean he barely plays, as the upgrades around him more upgrade who plays instead of him than who plays around him. But to your point, he'll get to be on the field in situations that cater to his skillset. Barring injuries to guys ahead of him on the depth chart, he may not get a ton of snaps this year.
he didnt have shit on olave or wilson. i liked the david bell pick but cmon now he was not the best receiver in the big ten and stats are showing that now in the big leagues with them both having 1000+ yard seasons. not counting him out but lets not suck his dick either
Nah son.. ohio state had 3 recuevers better than him. Even 4 if you count young Marvin Harrison. You're confused with the fact he won the award for best in the big 10 cuz of production but that just means he was the only good receiver on the team. I'll even throw jahan Dotson from Penn state ahead of his ass. And I'm a browns fan.. but I stick to the facts
David Bell catches everything...but if the QB's are late and/or they throw to him in triple coverage...any receiver will drop some of those. Go Dawgpound!!!
David Bell might be the best-kept secret at WR for the Browns over the next couple seasons. Remember, Kevin Stefanski said David Bell was THE WR he wanted last year. Limited opportunities in 2022, but when he did get an opportunity, he usually made the most of it. Future is bright.
I really liked this kid in college and was hoping he was gonna replace Landry. He might've been able to without all the recent additions. Now with Moore, Tillman , Goodwin he's rarely gonna see the field. Great hands, good route runner, but slow as all hell for the NFL. I'm still routing for him to find a place on the team!
crazy productive collegereciever but I just think bell a little too slow for the NFL and doesn't have that "electric" factor he showed in college. maybe he needs more opportunity but not sure he will get it this year for the Browns as Late signee Austin Watkins looks great and is dominating him in preseason so far
As a Browns fan, it would be great to see Bell start to put it together this year. No doubt he has a lot to work on not all rookies are great right out of the gate. Bell lacks vertical speed but has been touted for his hands, it looked like he gave up on a bunch of plays which resulted in picks. As of 3/25/23 the receiver room looks much different now than last year, I would put Bell in the 4th or 5th spot on a depth chart, lots of work to do.
this is great! thank for u this. i always look for stuff like this and can never find it! the only crtic is that buzzing between plays.. hurts my ears lol
Mannnn!!!!The cleveland browns better not deal that brother to another team or make trade for him he's really a good wide receiver real Talk though 💯💯💯💪💪💪💪💪💪💪💪💪
my life’s a simulation lmao im from lil old Indiana … my sophomore year in high school we (me and bell) had the same class at Warren central township in Indianapolis… I only went to school there for that year lol but the majority of my younger life I lived in Richmond Indiana, if you know Desmond Bane (Memphis Grizzlies Player)he’s also from there 😂 and I used to hoop w em at the boys and girls club 😂 Desmond was a lot older though im pretty sure… im not sure how old he is but ik when I was hoopin w em he was Dunkin’ and I was small af shooting only 3s, I finished assist for Desmond 😏we went to same school but I never seen him there not even sure if he was there while I was( Seton Catholic )
So slow, overs almost no yac. Doesnt attack the ball. Few of his miscues led to ints. Hopefully Browns add a vet and draft someone in round 2. Enough project guys. Need speed and actual talented wrs. Bell is a nice wr 4 or 5 that you want to catch a pass close to los. DBs were all over him in man, and nobody is afraid of him with the ball in his hands.
He looks extremely, extremely slow on tape. We better hope that's just because he's trying to adjust to the speed of the NFL game and he isn't running his routes at full speed with confidence yet. Because if what we see in this video is the fastest this kid plays in the NFL, then he is a guaranteed bust.
They used him as a strickly posession receiver its comical how people say he has no yac kids got nasty as jukes hes sneaky smooth he kinda reminds of a poorman deboo mixed with landry
@@servc9234 I'd take him over Anthony Schwartz right now. Better hands. Schwartz . I had no idea that he was so ...raw! If they obtain Jerry Juedy from Denver, his time here will be over. One more thing. I hope that they can retain oft injured (like all the db's) Greedy Williams.
@@tyrearn9235 agreed swartz I loved coming out of the draft but man he can’t catch or get open. Give Bell time to develop could definitely be a reliable target. Also he could be pushed out if he doesn’t develop his role next season
Nah that's a waist bro we have Reagor which might be solid, Douglas, Boutte, Montgomery, that play alot better than that. Might as well try harder for Jefferson or Higgins or something.
@xxiiiaresxxiii3505 I knew you were going to say that but looks like Bell sucks too if you watch the whole video and read the comments. And there's not much on Boutte except him taking it to the house, so I'd rather more from him.
@xxiiiaresxxiii3505 I'd definitely rather see more Reagor than waste time on Bell. How do you feel about Reagor? Nice catch and good blocking last Sunday.
He basically only ran a 5 yard hitch or drag route all year. The few times he ran deeper routes it didn’t work out. Still has some potential but not fast at all.
spot on ☝️ and my fellow Browns fans killed me for saying as much prior to the season.
Yea hes a 3rd round pick. Might develop into something more than he is If not he's a solid piece as a #3

He will be ok all rookies can't be great right away.
He could be a possession guy. Who can work in the middle of the field. Like poor man Jarvis Landry.
Needs to be given time to develop and not be counted out already. Man was best reciever in the big 10 when he played.
lmao no

I mean he's worth a rooster spot I'd say but to bank on him as anything but a backup would be foolish.
agreed. WR's take 2-3 years to develope. There are ALWAYS outliers but also have to consider who the QB was for the first 11 weeks
BROWNS TO THE BOWLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL
A lot of 5 wide receiver sets next year he’ll make a lot plays like 3:59 against linebackers and safeties
Good potential 3rd down target
That loss to the Falcons was inexcusable
Bro if DPJ can do what he did last year with bell stepping up...
Loved this guy coming out of Purdue

Wait a min the media been at this dudes neck all week but seems like he has the potential to develop into a decent player.
He can be great

He was a 3rd round pick! Solid #3. Hopefully he develops a little more but if not he was still a good pick at 98th overall.
Browns definetly need a speed guy. But Bell is a solid edition to use when needed.
Looked like a rookie. Has potential and will learn to adjust his routes to distance needed for first downs.
All I see is Stefanski's awful play calling
Surprised it took so long to get this comment.. My thought as well.

Jag
From what I heard, Stefansky "had to have" him. He loves his slow receiving threats.
You dont even know how to spell our head coaches name
He runs a sub 4.9 forty.... actually 4.87. Why we drafted this guy, idk. We have too small of a window to waste time on projects.
ba ba ba butt
I don't understand the point of this video
seen enough
Dude slow asf
Forgot he was on the team
🤣
What a sad “highlight” reel
Bell should hit the weights and become a tight end
Not much of a deep threat eh?
He was never a deep threat also ran like a 4.65

jedic wills need to be trade take your eyes off Bell and put them on LT.
He literally got beat 4 times in this clip. Please stfu
those are low lights..horrible
Stop making excuses
