    This was wonderful. Poetic, respectful, expansive.
    Myself coming to terms with my understanding of origins has freed me to understand that God is indeed much bigger than I was raised to believe. And it gives such awe to believe in this bigger God.
    Thanks. So good, again. I trust the intentionality with which you speak, the language you use, the sweetness and simple faith you still have. Your organization matters.

      Amen brotha - praise the lord. I’ll be praying from you, I’ve found that at least in my church it’s best to not feel obligated to let everyone else know how you feel. I love my Church and it’s not worth causing the division but just to note It’s a shame that people can be so off base with Christianity that not only will your growth bother them but they have to try and convince you of a bunch of wacky views no where in the scripture is the only way you can get back on track. At the end of the day it’s a good lesson for us in humility and charity for our brothers. Thanks for sharing!

      Congrats Rachel - I hope your confidence is still growing. Don’t let the critics get to you - I love that somebody actually responded to your beautiful comment by sending a conspiracy video. “Not concerned that your faith is restored in the slightest, what’s more important is that you accept their conspiracy cult so you can actually be saved”.
      Faith Truth - when an evolutionary biologist becomes a christian are they really not saved unless they change all of their positions? If so can you explain even the slightest connection that has to what we are taught about salvation and redemption in the scriptures, if you tell me to connect a bunch of random bible verses from all over the place I am going to tell you that you are probably closer to Mormonism than true saving grace. (Please note, I am not saying that because of your creation opinions. Many Christians believe in a young earth, etc. the issue comes from how that in any way connects to the gospel because it’s simply not there. Just like there are no prophesies predicting wacky Joseph Smith would come along to save all the Indians. Not trying to offend, trying to encourage honest examination of the scripture and not what you think it is supposed to say.

    "Once upon a time..." what I like about this is that it is essentially a scientific fable about how things could have happened based on what has been learned through science in a way that is not incompatible with God's Word. It's a possibility that acknowledge that you don't have to throw out centuries of scientific findings to believe in Jesus. Does this replace anything in Genesis? No, I think not. but it does offer a description of the kind that I don't think Genesis intended. Where Genesis was a theological/spiritual description of Creation (and significantly more important), this offers a potential physical description while still tying in the spiritual elements. I understand that many believers find this difficult to believe and that it goes against their understanding of Creation, but I would urge to to consider that this type of alternative explanation can be very helpful to those wrestling with faith and not to impose more restrictions on future believers than Christ Himself did. Believing in Him and following Him is what Christ asks. It could be that the Bible's explanation of Creation is strictly literally true, but my salvation does not depend on that...

      @ReepC07 7 років тому +3

      Steven Lafleche I'm pretty wide awake. One can make anything sound ridiculous by misinterpreting it and rephrasing it with a dose of sarcasm and scorn. I was an atheist for most of my life and I understand the mentality. But based on an analysis of the evidence along with some faith, I've come to the conclusion that I think the Christian account is true. Prior to that, I looked down on Christians with a supremely self-righteous "open mind." It turns out I was pretty narrow-minded when it came to considering different belief structures from mine, which is more than a little ironic.

    • @ReepC07
      @ReepC07 7 років тому +3

      Steven Lafleche I am not afraid of dying and I understand science. I also am not sure what your point is. Without a God, I don't see what the purpose of life is. There is no purpose except to exist and die at which point life has become meaningless, and yet atheists still cling to this bizarre idea that there is a purpose. At least I did. As to your point about there being only one religion if there was a God... to me, that doesn't make any sense. Humans are flawed and come up with different interpretations of events they saw with their own eyes. If God (or objective truth) exists, there is likely to be various views and interpretations. I happen to think that the Christian explanation is the closest to the objective truth about the nature of God and His Creation. I may be wrong, but I'm pretty sure I'm not an idiot.

    • @ReepC07
      @ReepC07 7 років тому +3

      Steven Lafleche Excellent scientific reply. Tautology is cool like that. I'm glad you're willing to let me live in my ignorance. if I'm wrong, I've spent my life dedicated to loving/serving others for no good reason, I suppose, but it's a risk I'm willing to take. I truly wish you the best and hope you continue seeking truth. My understanding (as part of my "cult" belief) is that all who earnestly seek the truth will find it.

    • @ReepC07
      @ReepC07 7 років тому +3

      Steven Lafleche it's a little ironic you're talking about my superiority. I don't think I'm superior to anyone. Notice I didn't call your views idiotic or imply that anyone who believes differently than me is delusional. I even admitted I may be wrong. As to your final comment: just... wow. It's unfortunate a congenial reply would receive such a vitriolic response. Again, good luck with your seeking of the truth.

    • @ReepC07
      @ReepC07 7 років тому +3

      Steven Lafleche And still with more personal insults. I didn't have look up a synonym. This just further proves how wrong your prejudices and biases are. But oh well, this has clearly descended beyond a rational discussion, if it ever was intended to be by you. I have a policy of "don't feed the trolls." I try to give people the benefit of the doubt, but you have made it excessively clear what your intentions are. Good day to you.

    Vander Zee it was a nice version of what you believe but their were many flaws between the fish coming out of the water and sprouting wings becoming birds which is not mentioned in the text but that He made them. Especially with the human part which just simply appeared was actually formed by dust from the ground by Him also in the Text. Why not just take the Text as it is. He is Omnipresent and anyone who is Omnipresent can be explained as He can do anything in a blink of an eye. Nice version but like you said your Imaginative version The Big Story. I do believe in science and I do believe they also work together with the Text and not against it I just believe sometimes we put to many of our own hypothesis and then tend to believe them with out actual proof.

      So are parables intended to be taken literally? There’s a reason that many theological stories are told in allegory. They exemplify a deep, intense and critical message into a simple and easy to understand message. Some things are literal. Some things are metaphorical. The messaging is all the same. Use discretion from the Holy Spirit to decipher it for yourself.

      So, if how you understand Genesis doesn’t align with what we can test and come to solid conclusions about in the world, then I guess your belief hinges on a lie? I mean, if you interpret Genesis as literal - and it sounds like you do - but that interpretation is disproven by what we can firmly assert about the world given the evidence we have, then that would make Genesis a fictional story and you would be presenting it as true when it’s not, so you would be evangelizing a lie. Or do we just go the rout of affirming the Bible has the final authority on everything and whatever it says (or doesn’t say) must be understood as literally true, therefore negating any scientific, historical, mathematical, etc. discovery’s that disprove a literal understanding of scripture?

      What in the video contradicts the Bible? It merely fills in the Biblical account with additional information which we have learned from God’s other way of communicating to us, through His creation and our God-given ability to learn from it. For example, in this video atoms or “particles” are mentioned. We KNOW that these exist. So, if we also know that God is the Creator, then God created these particles. The Bible doesn’t mention these particles, but how can it be anything other than doctrinally correct to state that God did in fact create them?
