This video exposes Sam Altman's double standard, advocating for open AI while lobbying for regulations that stifle competition and innovation.

He's the most cliche cartoon/marvel villain ever lmao. Every single thing he does screams one or more popular villains because he just is not a good person.
gives me Lex luthor vibes ngl
I was surprised how quickly he turned against Musk, his supposed "childhood hero." Doesn't that happen with every super-villain?
This is the first time I’m actually scared of AI’s future. It could be very dark if only a selected few have access to superior intelligence because they can afford it. I never saw it that way. Actually this dck measuring contest with Musk and Besos could be a good thing.
The politicians in my country have turned their back to their country along time ago, and Microsoft specially, acts like they own even the bank, like no one says "no" to Microsoft. They own the bank, they own our ministers thru the WEF forum, they already pave the way with datacenters to own us. Neither the US or China will be the next dominating global power.. It will be Big Tech, and that is not a conspiracy..
You didn’t get scared when they added Pfizer to the board of directors ?
Really? This just occurred to you? It's always been the goal.
I wonder what it is about people sometimes that makes them fail to realise that every single billionaire is a psychopath? You only become a billionaire by being morally bankrupt from the outset.
My friend, the internet isn't free. Get political, learn the history. What the department of commerce did to ruin the internet in the early 2000's is being repeated here. Keep the rich rich.
Very true.
Life expectancy is very confusing and misleading to most people. It's because it does not and has never indictated lifespan. Humans never died at an average age of 25 ever. We have always lived into our 70's and beyond. Life expectancy is calculated by adding all the ages at which people died and dividing it by by the number of people. Because infant mortality was sky high (babies often didn't make it to 2 years old in the past because of diseases we couldn't treat), life expectancy rates in the past were very skewed. All those age 1 deaths are counted and brought the life expectancy number way down. Now in modern society, infant mortality is drastically lower and babies almost always survive their first two years of life. And that is why life expectancy is so much higher.
Anyone who employs a little conmon sense, however, should realize that humans were never dropping dead at 25. We would have all died out. Grandparents would not exist and everyone would be orphaned. People think little girls were getting married and raising kids but that was extremely rare. Even 300 years ago, we didnt let girls get married until they were 18 or so. Most people didn't marry until their 20s, so they would marry and die a couple of years later? Of course not. Humans lived almost just as long 300 years ago as they do now.
Davinci lived into his late 70's. Plato lived into his 80's. Modern medicine has not lengthened human lifespan by much, maybe a few years. It has made infancy and childbirth safer, but our lifespans have not changed.
That is extremely inaccurate,do you not read literature in the olden times,if you read any old books or recollection of the past you would clearly see how life expectancy has indeed increased
In Europe at least that is total cap what your saying
OP is right. Go and see how many priests lived long in their 70-80 1000+y ago. Or Emperors.
@alpha007org you do realise social class impacts life span by an enormous amount
the average peasant did not live long in the medical times, feudal age, dark ages etc.
@@alpha007org 25 years is extremely low figure but from an average of 40 years to 80 these days in some northern countries is a massive improvement
Good share David. I watched the full All-In vid. Enlightening stuff.
Altman i trust the LEAST. he Only Ever gives Broad spectrum answers. never details, is hypercritical with that he says and does.
Exactly. "The ring of power corrupts" as Elon has said. I worry for the future with sama at the helm.
Exactly, God knows what fkd up plan he is etching out
Hi David! I wish to partcipate in your communitiy! But 77USD for our country (Brazil) is a high value. It's similar to 300USD. Our exchange rate is 1 x 5.2 ... I know the value of your community... but unfortunately I can't afford... Could you give me somekind of discount? Thank you man!
And he is criticizing Sam altman😅
Why don't he have a free community lf he think about people
If sam altman was a dc villain. he. Would be called two. Faced.
The board was the bad guy publicly when they fired him, but there was something to that. I think he's probably narcissistic, he's not always the most honest, and has trouble empathizing with other people.
people are trying to put him in prison, and break his legs, they say ai is a weapon..
Legitimate question. If Open AI was open sourced, how would they be able to raise the huge amount of money needed to press forward with developing AGI?
Quantitative easing
Thanks for this video.
IMO it is a matter of time sharing open source powerful LLMs will be illegal and considered a national security problem.
There are already proposals of legislation for that in multiple areas, even RISC-V processors.
Its good day when David Ondrej drops a banger video
In 2015 Sam altman. Said. Ai creat. Some. Great. Complains but in the end will destroy every thing
David Ondrej has a dark side which not many people talk about. Seriously think about this thoroughly for at least 10-15 seconds. I challenge you to search your mind and heart. Tell me I'm wrong.
This is literally the only case of regulatory capture where the motives behind some of the players and the consequences of it succeeding or failing are wholly unknowable and cannot be distinguished from corporate greed. We can never know the true motivations behind Sam's desire for capture. It's one thing being willing to create a net loss for society in a single sector due to greed or power, but it's another thing entirely to to create it across all sectors, possibly for the rest of time. I feel like I've seen enough interviews with Sam to get a feel that he (probably) genuinely believes this will be the safest route forward and he doesn't come from a position of greed or pure power. However, I do think it's possible he's acting under the weight of his own hubris.
It's possible that Open Source poses the most existential threat to humanity while Regulatory Capture poses the greatest risk for dystopian outcomes. There are arguments for both sides and the fact of the matter is we are in unknown territory without a solution to the alignment problem. As long as jail-breaking the closed models is still possible, I will always land on the side of Open Source for the greatest net risk.
I think I've seen too many hints about Sam's dark side. lol
havent seen any good side yet
Sam is just Bill Gates puppet to hold OpenAI as a non-profit function so the "AI adventure" doesn't look so dirty, while the datacenters that is popping up everywhere are training AI-models so they can wrap it around normal populations to finally get world-control. Who spends trillions on datacenter full of GPU's unless it's not for something that pays back in something else worth more to the builder, than money? Give it a thought.
can you guys give examples? The only thing I've seen is his hubris. I get the impression that he feels that the safest way forward is regulatory capture and because it will be in his capable hands the likelihood of it ending poorly is not zero but less than if it was in someone else's.
@@dannii_L The clash he had with Helen Toner and Elon Musk on the way he runs the company is very telling.
@@dannii_L Using Kenyan workers working in bad conditions to clean data for OpenAI. Altman paid 50 bucks to Nigerian people to sell their biometric data and iris scan for his "worldcoin" untilt he government had to stop this.
Glad to see you keep pushing the importance of open source.
Lost a lot of respect for this channel with this video.
You can be for the progress of an immensely powerful technology, and at the same time, implore that it's done safely.
If Sam didn't come out an ask, a congress person, and/or hundreds of AI scientists would have (AND HAVE BEEN DOING).
OF COURSE WE NEED AI REGULATION, and until you can point to the parameters mentioned in your AI generated outline that shows that the regulation is "pushing out the little guy" your two points aren't lining up.
AND BILL GURLEY complaining about regulatory capture???
His firm owns 8 BILLION dollars of Uber stock, you know the same company that fought against worker's rights in California.
Maybe don't pick a greedy billionaire to back up your points with.
Thank you for sharing this! Also consider reading the book "Smart until its dumb" by Emmanuel Maggiori about the (big) limitations of current systems and how the unreasonable hype about "AGI around corner" does more harm than benefit to the field.
We are in an AI race with China...of course we shouldnt care about cost
We don't need universal basic income. We need universal access to AGI.
lmao tell us then, how will that sustain you even for a week? Access to AGI (which will be plenty universal when it arrives, not even remotely problematic) is far from the problem you'll be facing.
Great video. How do you re activate youtube dislikes ?

OMG finally a UA-camr I follow mentions Regulatory Capture! Thank you!
Good video Dave 🤟🏻
You do not understand, that's the problem. It is great that Sam is involved guiding politicians becasue they are clueless. He is incredibly smart in how is is working with politicians as he has instead of atagonizing them. Politicians are incredibly dangerous and will do any say anything as long as it benefits them. Sam needs to be there to pacify them an unarm them because politicians are great at usung fear to get elected and re-elected. Once a loetician get's on a shameless high horse raising fear it will be almost imposibe to stop them. You need to try and understand politics to understand what Sam is doing.
Open ai is à cia project guys wake up they release this to see where Chine was in ai devlopment... microsft is a cia programme to they control all computer on earth lol
If you want to find out what the real Sam Altman is like, ask his sister Annie Altman.
if you like to read body language, you saw this from the start.
edit: though, we all have a dark side. It's just a matter of what we do with it.
Nice analysis
Except there are bigger problems. Why do we not get all riled up about paywalled scientific publications? What about the for profit prison system? It's not whether or not there is regulation, but how it is implemented. The power is always with the people, get organized, get a petition, get the votes, control your own regulation. ...Or sit back and watch regulation get captured.
I just wish that the AI community leaders like yourself and a number of others would just completely turn off and turn against proprietary ai and only promote open source AI.
Sam Altman is like Elon Musk ... they didn't build anything. Watch those videos of "debunking Elon Musk".
I don’t understand? Is managing and orchestrating a company and risking capital not part of the building process. If Elon stayed as an engineer he wouldn’t have been able to use his other skill sets to build companies. Or do you mean something else?
That's like saying an architect doesn't build anything, which would technically be true. It's just all of the people holding hammers wouldn't have much to do without a plan.
You need builders and you need those that provide the builders with money and a vision/agenda. Each part by itself can't build great things.
@@RobShocks Elon didn't invent anything, friend. Did you not look into Tesla's history? It was founded by two engineers who created the Roadster. Then, a few years later, Elon came along, bought everything, and started claiming to be the creator while erasing the original owners...

Hi David i subscribed to your channel long ago, just i want to say i enjoyed your video but if i wannna join your community its is paid one. If you really think about people pls maake it available to everyone not just who got you money. Intelligence is a curious thing. The more intelligent animals are, the more cruel they seem to be. Orcas can kill for fun, tormenting their prey for amusement. Humans look down on less intelligent individuals. AGI will not be different, and certainly will not be a slave.
You’re describing emotion though, the orcas kill for fun because they ENJOY it, humans look down on others because of PRIDE, if AI can have all this intelligence without emotions involved, it may work
Worst part is he sleeps well at night knowing he is part of our extinction.
He did invest in a bunker like zuck.

With young people like David Ondrej, I am confident that the future will be okay. AI will be decentralized and open.
Why. Are people going easy on snake. Altman in this comment section
David is so young he hasn't seen the history of microsoft and linux.
the fact that linux destroyed microsoft doesn't automatically prove that open-source AI will destroy closed-source.
we have to fight to ensure that is the case, not assume it's gonna happen automatically

Just think about what kind of ai-models that have been released the last 2 years. Now we got llama3 and phi3-mini released, like this is how far AI has come in advancement. Then I thought.. Big tech are building huge datacenters full of GPU's, training some AI-models 24/7, just the datacenter that popps up here in Norway will consume equal to 13% of the entire country electrical demands each year. ONE datacenter, and all they have to show is phi3-mini? multi-agent frameworks like Autogen and toys we all can use these modsls like it's toys. I call it a diversion of a magnitude the programming communities ever have experienced. Just to make our heads busy, and forget about what big-tech are really doing behind the curtains within these "cloud"-centers as casual people think about it. People dont know shit, actually neither do the agent builders.

Talking about life expectancy in Africa pre 1900 as a function of "technology" without a mention of brutal colonization and slave trade? Pretty blind.
You mean which was started and encouraged domestically and sold by themselves?
@@malamstafakhoshnaw6992 is that how you want to interpret the history?
Certainly! Here's a consolidated list of sources of excess mortality in Africa linked to European colonialism, including some specific regions and events that I've mentioned, as well as additional contexts where such excesses likely occurred:
1. **Congo Free State (1885-1908)**: Millions of Congolese died due to forced labor, disease, and punitive expeditions under King Leopold II’s rule.
2. **Herero and Namaqua Genocide (1904-1908)**: German forces exterminated up to 80% of the Herero and 50% of the Nama populations in modern-day Namibia.
3. **Famines in British-ruled territories**: Policies focused on resource extraction contributed to famines in Kenya, Malawi, and other regions.
4. **Slave Trade (15th-19th century)**: Millions of Africans died from violence, disease, and brutal conditions related to the transatlantic slave trade. Total amount of slaves transported from Africa by Europeans is somewhere between 12 to 15 million perhaps. 10-15% of them died during passage due to their horrific conditions.
5. **Mozambique (late 19th century-20th century)**: Portuguese colonial rule involved forced labor and harsh economic exploitation, contributing to significant mortality and suffering.
6. **South Africa**: Colonial wars, such as the Anglo-Zulu War and the South African War (Boer War), caused significant deaths among indigenous populations. Additionally, apartheid policies led to widespread oppression and violence.
7. **Angola**: Like Mozambique, Portuguese colonialism in Angola involved forced labor and military campaigns against local populations, causing high death tolls, particularly during the fight for independence.
8. **French West Africa**: Forced labor, military campaigns, and harsh policies led to significant mortality in French colonies like Algeria, where the war for independence resulted in large numbers of deaths.
9. **Algerian War of Independence (1954-1962)**: An estimated 1.5 million Algerians died during their fight for independence from France.
10. **Ethiopian-Italian wars**: Italian invasion and occupation of Ethiopia included the use of chemical weapons and harsh repression, leading to numerous deaths.
11. The list could go on...
You're spreading missinformation. Study more about the subject of security and you'll know why. I support A.I. regulations.
So support a closed source propriety company that presents itself as free & open, censors the info you want, charges you and is in bed with a company harvesting all your private data to freely sell wherever it wants. That's the company you support. If there is any company I want to see chapter 11 more than any other company on the planet it's this one.
Terrible take. I disagree with everything.
Yeah this is terrible take, freedom should be absolute. And when it comes to security, if China is making agi why should we voluntarily stay behind?
A nonsense comment really. State your position clearly not some vague reference to security that could mean anything.
Regulations only good for people in contrôle.... if you can't understand that you have a cognitive problème.
