Fantastic episode as always Ms. Cohen. I thought the camera shots were impeccable and it gave me a true sense of what it is like to live at UCSB for a week. However, I do believe that there was a slight inaccuracy to what you actually eat during the week since you cooked too many times. But all things aside I LOVED IT ALL!!!!!!

Cheer had open gyms twice a week leading up tryouts in the spring and it was open to anyone but non-team members had to pay $5 :) If you’re interested in open gyms in general though the gymnastics club also has some for anyone who wants to!
I was wondering what you thought about work opportunities at ucsb? I definitely want to work while being a student, where do most students work (on campus, or off campus in IV or DTSB)?
Most students do work here! There’s lots of opportunity for on-campus jobs and in IV as well. If you have a car, downtown Santa Barbara is an option too - there’s a bus but it takes a bit longer.
I hope you didn't go into too much debt for this experience. Student loans can't be discharged in bankruptcy unless 100% disabled or the school has been found to commit fraud. It's basically indentured servitude for at least 20 years. I did go to UCSB and it was fun. The debt was only worth it because on my spare time I learned invaluable things that made my life much better. With todays tuition rates it wouldn't be worth it for me to get in that kind of debt. In 2003 it was $3,500 for tuition. By 2005 tuition had risen to over $5,000. Today it's nearing $14,000. It's really insane to take on that type of debt unless you become a doctor or engineer making over $100,000 a year and pay it off fast while living cheap for many years.
I’ll be transferring here next fall, looks like a nice chill place to escape the noise in LA.
