It's called the Space Needle and has been part of the celebration for years!
@@karenharris722 okay but they're right, the space needle is literally in the middle of the way of the entire drone show. This was 100% poor planning on their part.
The smoke from the first set of fireworks basically ruined the show. Couldn't see most of it.

True. There was a tiny bit of fog around the needle but after those first fireworks it was just all smoke

The camera angle is terrible. You think they would have been able to get better coverage since this is a news agency.
I know. They usually have the angle pointing at the entire needle so we can see better. Not sure why they had the angle pointed up the needle this time.
afaik King 5 is the official broadcast partner, and they have that kind of shot. Komo seems to be just taking a shot from their offices since they're _right there_

We got lucky and circled around the needle in the car for a few hrs and was stopped in the perfect location to view the fireworks warm and safely from the car. No complaints here!

Fog/smoke be darned, I really appreciate the effort that goes into this, and the drones were cool. Seattle’s a world class city. Appreciate it or lose it, Vancouver hasn’t had fireworks for NYE since 2016 because they didn’t appreciate it.
There was no fog. This was smoke from the cheap fireworks they used. It's been that way the last few years and it is not even worth watching it on TV anymore.

I think Vancouver’s a great city (fabulous outdoors as well), I just wanted to point out that we tend to lose what we don’t appreciate.

They messed up the angle of the camera. It should have been pointed at the entire needle like it normally is so we could see the entire show, not pointed at the needle looking up

You can see the firework show in China during 2008 and 2019 on UA-cam. Both super big and expansive. None of them have smoke like this. This is like a joke.

@@sov19871987 no, that was smoke. There is literally zero fog. That can be easily seen as it was completely clear until the cheap fireworks started.

Maybe the pyrotechnics should look at 3 years ago at the needle. Guess you can't beat it??

Ridiculous ... so much smoke right from the beginning that the fireworks were hidden. It looked like a nuclear bomb there was so much smoke. Just do a drone & laser show next year. And the music - - sucked... And the 'Celebrity Dance' at the top of the Space Needle - hope they can breathe... 😮

They're intentionally buying shitty fireworks that produce smoke. The same thing happened last year and they also tried to blame it on the lack of wind, ironic as wind traditionally interferes with fireworks displays. Drones are cheaper and it's hilarious that supposedly each drone was individually piloted as that just seems implausible, impractical, and cost ineffective and in so I doubt there's a semblance of truth to that. But this is how you get cities justifying dispensing with annual fireworks celebrations. This was a problem with the fireworks itself, watched the show live from multiple different feeds and it was evident that the first 5 minutes of reddish-orange sparks coming from the scaffolds of the tower to the side of the elevator were generating absurd amounts of smoke. The fog came in this morning. Why are all the news agencies and commentators covering for this human error? Shouldn't news reporters report news? I'm guessing T-mobile is a sponsor of theirs.
There's no way that they were individually piloted. If that were true they would be constantly running into each other. Drones are very very easily programmable to do a specific flight pattern which is most likely what they did.

Too bad the fog rolled in. It really put a damper on the show. Looked like a lot of people were disappointed afterwards considering the effort it took to get there and back.

I knew it,leave it to Seattle to create the cheapest fireworks el cheepo display of disgrace every year while they embessaling 500.000.00$ using only 5000 $ on the show that's a humiliating embarasment to us Pacific coasters.

We had picked up guests at SeaTac and unwittingly took the tunnel entering it about 11:30 not too emerge until midnight. Hundreds of people traumatized by poor management of people exiting at Mercer to watch the fire works. Others stopping on 99 just after the north exit of the tunnel- people standing on 99 just after the tunnel.
Traumatic
Breathing CO2 for 30 minutes in the tunnel was unnecessary and dangerous to high stressed drivers.

That's why the tunnel is filled with massive fans and high tech ventilation. But...ok. 😂😂😂. You poor thing. Next time take I-5.
Filming was terrible. Can’t see the drone show because the camera was in the wrong location. Then the camera was set up too close for the fireworks show.

This was smoke, not fog. The exact same thing happened last year and this is human error.
