Driverless trucks make it to be a road pirate. Think about it, they all have the radar autobraking systems....

I think there's way more hype than reality. They've been promising driverless cars for a long time, they haven't been able to deliver on that, let alone driverless transports.
It may EVENTUALLY happen, but it'll be a long time out, I think.
A good way to stem the desire for them would be better training and safer humans on the road!

It’s happening right now in Texas! 20 Drivers Less tractor trailer ( with a person sitting in the driver seat but not in control) The testing ends this year (2024) and these 20 tractor trailer will begin to deliver freight with no driver in the seat. By 2027 or early 2028 , hopefully making a profit. This is run be more then five companies for customers like FedEx; Uber Freight.

The Hype is over - It’s a reality. They are on some interstate highways now.

@@truckerstevecdlinstructor I’m not sure if we should worry short job loss or even going to trucking school. You mentioned “ progress”, and it seems one of other meanings of progress to these people are eliminating the need for human drivers. Why even go to school or take an exam next week if we will soon be eliminated? No one seems to speak on the issue In Chief: elimination of human drivers.

@@Nard91-w8j you will be retired before it should effect you.
Most of the routes will be in TX; CA: Florida where there is very little chance of snow and ice.
In order to make a profit, these companies will have to have many tractors trailers on the road. Yes, there will be jobs lost if they are successful.
