I wonder how many world cup spain and Messi would've had if he had played for Spain. He chose Argentina but till recently he wasn't treated as you'd expect as many felt they have to chose between him and Diego M (may he rest in peace).
Well he would have won the world cup and euro cup twice. After 2012 spain fell off and even Messi most likely couldnt change that. Lets not forget he reached 2 finals with Argentina and should have won in 2014 as well (thanks Higuain and Refs who didnt give red card to Germany). Also he won the Copa America so I would say in hindsight he doesn't regret his choice. Overall Spain would have been the safer choice obviously. If he lost that 2022 final it would have been a disaster tho.
