    Dry boxing is definitely a fascinating concept, but I rarely practice dry boxing for the simple fact that I keep my humidors at 62% I like your set up though!

    Cutting the cigar before resting or dry boxing them is the best way to do it in my opinion. Mine can vary between 3 and 5 percent from tip to foot otherwise. It seems to prevent those smokes that fail in the final third or need a relight. (As far as infused cigars go, I don’t usually buy them. However, my guilty pleasure are the Nub Nuance. That coffee flavor can be pretty nice from time to time. Especially early in the morning).

      That’s correct cutting the cap works also since the cigar is allowed to breathe on both ends. I tend to do that for stubborn cigars that won’t acclimate properly and it shouldn’t be done to change the RH more than 5% IMO. Thanks for watching and sharing your experience brother! 🫡

    I initially thought my area’s humid, year-round climate would make dry-boxing unnecessary. However I’ve had my share of inconsistent burns and re-lights going into the last third of the cigar. I’m going to invest in a humidimeter and give it a shot.

      It’s a great tool specially for the cap/tip of the cigar and along with the visual checks your cigars will always burn nice and even. Cheers my friend!

      @@Hugosmokes would I be able to use a cigar box for this as well? Or is it recommended to have something with a solid seal like a tupperdore (I have a few spare tuppwedore so will start with that)

    • @Hugosmokes
      @Hugosmokes  7 місяців тому +1

      @@Matinthemorning1 Hey Mat that’s a great question, in general the container type is not as important as the size of the container used. The idea of “drying out” cigars is have enough open space to allow the humidity to flow out of the cigar at a constant rate. In general you want to make sure the volume of the container is at least 10x the volume of your cigars to allow proper flow. Remember this should be a slow and steady process so that the RH% is as consistent as possible throughout your sticks. In generally I store my overstock at no more than 65%RH so I’m only extracting about 5%RH which is ideal. Also, remember that most cigar boxes usually don’t have consistent seal all around so the air flow will vary. Placing cedar inside your tupperdor dry box and periodically opening the lid to check your cigars will help extract excess humidity in the box as well. Does this make sense? Hope it helped and feel free to DM on my IG anytime. Cheers my brother. 😮‍💨🍁🙏🏻

    Thanks for the video, I live in a very humid climate. My humidor is 65%RH and my cigar boxes outside are reading 71%RH. With this in mind, is there any way for me to dry box or would it be counter productive?

    • @Hugosmokes
      @Hugosmokes  6 місяців тому

      Throw in a low RH humidity(62% or less)device like a Boveda pack. They are designed to release but also to absorb excess moisture (2-way). Remember your dry box should have a good seal like the one I use in the video and make sure u monitor your sticks occasionally til they reach your desired smoking condition. It’s hard work but very rewarding to smoke a perfectly conditioned cigar. Hope this helps brother and thanks for watching and commenting. 🫡🙏🏻

      Thanks bro! One more question, would you dry box cigars with a Connecticut shade wrapper? I saw these cigars are better stored in higher humidity

    • @Hugosmokes
      @Hugosmokes  6 місяців тому +1

      @@al1961 great question I prefer to smoke lighter shade wrappers at a higher RH% (58-62%) than darker shades and they do well for me. Some cigars are delivered already around that RH so no need to dry box. From my experience darker blends trend to hold more moisture than the lighter ones. If you smoke a cigar at an RH way lower than optimum it tends to not taste good. Hope this helps brother.

    The humidity in my house is 15% higher than my humidor. Dry boxing does nothing for me. Same for all other humid states.

    • @Hugosmokes
      @Hugosmokes  6 місяців тому

      Are you using a separate sealed container to dry box? If so the outside humidity should not influence container's humidity given your environment temperature is not too hot.
