If it’s something black hair loves, it’s some cornrows and being left ALONE. UA-cam natural hair community is now on this anti protective style kick but I’ve learned it’s best to take their advice … w a grain of salt and grace because everyone touts their routines as if they’re the only way and then you end up with just a whole bunch of noise.
I just tried to go natural like wash and his and just no 😂😂😂 I just finished putting 17 twist in my hair . It took like 2 hours and they’ll be in for at least 6 weeks lol
@TheRealCyanYvette if you get box braids you can wash your hair when it gets itchy. That's what I do. Also if you wash your hair with box braids be very gentle or you might lose your hair with the braid. It's because the box braids will get heavy when they are soaking wet. But there are tutorials on how to wash them on youtube.

I do this with twist and leave them in for a month before I take them down and wash my hair again, hair grew hella long! I'm a woman and I said to myself NO MORE WEAVE! Protective and natural styles only👍🏾
I do this with twists I used to have issue with leaving because of dandruff/ sebhorric dermatitis. Ever since I start with Sulfur8 shampoo. And grease Sulfur8 I leave it alone for months no issues. However it is so hard not to "freshen" them up when they start getting old. I embrace frizz now, and tell myself clean well maintained hair is "neat" lol. Growth is crazy thanks for sharing.
Not every ones will lock up necessarily. Looks like he kept it moisturized enough and then gentle when you take it out. Back of my hair is like that but the top I have to be real careful or it does lock. Two very different textures
Yeah 1 month tops. Not leaving them in for two months. I do three weeks in, 1 week out, then get the rebraided in box braids or cornrows. Thats just me though 😂
Straight Hair - that wild Extrovert person doing handstands on the bar while chugging beer kinda person. Curly Hair - the "play it safe" Ambivert Afro Hair - the "leave me the fk alone and forever" kind of Introvert 😂 Good job on the growth!
It depends of you and the style bc if I leave mini twists in my hair for more than a week it starts locking. Flat braids are the only style that doesn’t loc my hair up
I have left braids in for almost a year, no it did not loc. Left in a sew in for almost a year, no it did not loc but it did retain lots of length but also with fake hair comes tension which causes hairfall and to be pulled out so much better to use real hair with no extensions.
Lol. All types of black people have locs, even white people can achieve them so a certain curl pattern.....it may be that, but I have daughters and all of our hair is different, same kind of thing and no loc but you could be right. Never thought about that.
Is your natural hair that much longer after 2 months of braids or is that blow dried hair at the end? Let me know if so ill leave my braids in for 2 months my hair is like yours in first clip i want to regain some of my hair length. My hair was a nice amount longer i want in the barbershop for clean up trim and my hair got cut wayyyy to much now back on hair growth journey
As much as I would love to leave my cornrows in for 2 months I can’t, because I go to middle school and you know how well middle schoolers mind their business (I was being sarcastic)
Everyone’s hair is different. I used to think just because I was black I had perfect hair for Locs. Boy was I wrong. My hair I more straight than the average black person. It’s not as course. So mine will take a bit longer to loc. it’s so annoying
Once a week??? Nah, no wonder it keeps getting messed up. With these hairstyles it's best to moisturize and tie it down every night every single day for one month then you TAKE THE PROTECTIVE HAIRSTYLE DOWN! and wash it at the end of the month so you can start a new protective style or wear it out in a afro.
@nxl0_o457 not trying to hurt your feelings but looks so nasty. Can I ask you something ? When you have the braids. Can you wash your hair every day ?

Anyone who is Black that is anti-protective style is either a goofy or don't know how to grow their hair out.
Yes and for women, crochet and sew ins are good styles because you need corn rows ❤

yep! best way to grow your hair tbh! all i do is twists and plats
This man's hair grew like 3 inches in 2 months.
I wish my hair did three inches in 2 months lol
@Nzuriismithbro your hair growing like that is a good thing? In what way did that sound negative or rude?😂
That’s actually true your hair grows 1.5 inches a month
@@lifewnani your hair grows half an inch a month

@ you're welcome. I need to get mine to do that.

Omg same!!!! Sulfur 8 did for me what prescriptions couldn't..I swear I can't believe it doesn't cost more 😭 it's a miracle product for me.
I just keep watching to admire the suit, nose piercing, face.
It will not loc if it is cornrows. You have to do two strand twists or coils and leave it alone for a few months in order for your hair to lock
Can’t believe after watching hundreds of videos this was the one where I finally learned how to braid😂
Stares in 3b 😳
Not every ones will lock up necessarily. Looks like he kept it moisturized enough and then gentle when you take it out. Back of my hair is like that but the top I have to be real careful or it does lock. Two very different textures

Good job on the growth!
Yea I left mine corn rowed for 2 months and I lost soo much hair because it was so knotted and matted😩
I didn’t, did you take care of your in those two months?
If you’re not moisturising it and wrapping it up at night then thats bound to happen.
@ no😭😭😭😭 leason learned!!!! I was supposed to keep it moisturized! Deep condition I just kept covering it with wigs smh
Ahhhh asking for trouble 🥲
@ lol Ikr😵
The song matches the vibe
Nice!! yea, other people/family always think they know what they're talking about 😂 do your thing 👏🏽
I have left braids & twists in for 4mos Several times and my hair didn’t loc..
I’d love to do this but my job would fire my ass coming into work looking that rough.
Can't you wear a hat?
That's fucked
If you're a woman you can wear headwraps/ scarves if you're a guy and the dress code isn't strict you can rock some durags
Can't you report them and say your hair is like that because it's growing and this is a protective hairstyle?
That has to be illegal
Love your hair!!!
It depends of you and the style bc if I leave mini twists in my hair for more than a week it starts locking. Flat braids are the only style that doesn’t loc my hair up
I leave my braids in for atleast 2-3 weeks, or just 1 month if I’m feeling lazy
I leave my hair in mini braids for three months, but I take care of them
Cornrows don't lock your hair like that. That's some goofy ass shit🤣
I will do this
my hair grew 1 inch in 1 month with cornrows i have now 2 inch of hair
I have left braids in for almost a year, no it did not loc. Left in a sew in for almost a year, no it did not loc but it did retain lots of length but also with fake hair comes tension which causes hairfall and to be pulled out so much better to use real hair with no extensions.
You likely do not have the curl pattern needed for it to lock.

It's literally just blow dried. But he most likely had growth in 2 months too
@@JohnBillow regardless thats nice i ended up doing braids for 1 month and a week it was nice gonna do it again for 2 months
I can't even keep mine for 1 week because itns so itchy, or maybe I'm not a hair pro at all
Use oil
Maybe try getting cornrows without braiding gel.
Found that out the hard way myself recently💀
I tried but I gave up when the itching started needing a hammer to reach and calm it down

I braid mine every two weeks. Is that too much?
Yes
Definately
Yes hun. That's too much manipulation. I suggest leaving it for 4 week, take it down and then braid
Braids are what stop your hair for locking if you leave in twist they will loc up
Was it itchy? Did it grow as fast as when out?
It was for the first month then it settled
@ thanks mate
Yes am doing it
🔥🔥🔥
That's a nice fro
Did u wash your hair through that time? Or do you just have to keep up with moisturizing it?
