Daniel tammet is the real Einstein. He is a savant that did an interview in Icelandic after studying for a week. I wish he did videos but it’s not his thing. He did prove that he could do it though.
นึกแล้วว่าต้องโคจรมาเจอกันซักวันนึง 😁 I've watched many videos of Stuart Jay Raj's channel. He's the expert of many languages, he know Thai language better than the Thai native like me, that's crazy!. Glad to see you guys joined up in this video with uncommon interesting content, (kinda shame that you didn't recorded in that building😏). I'll look forward to see more both of you on the next episode, thanks.👍
2 years ago I forgot all of my Thai speaking after moving to the UK (I am half Thai) and now I am studying Thai everyday so I can speak the language again and I was really encouraged when I saw your channel 😁
The man, the myth, the legend! 😂 Stuart Jay Raj has always been a favorite of mine. Very knowledgeable on a country’s language and history. Because of Stu, I still tell people sawasdee khap comes from the Sanskrit word *swastika* I watch a lot of your videos but this might be the first time I’ve left a comment. Not sure how most UA-camrs like you two meet, but I’d love to get in the loop.
@@ThaiTalkwithPaddy gotcha. Is there a platform content creators use to talk on or is it just through UA-cam comments? Appreciate the reply by the way 🤠🤙
Very interesting. Good information and something new I learned about Bangkok. To be honest, after watching this video, I am rather apprehensive about visiting that area. The impression I got was that non-Chinese would not be welcomed there -even if you can speak Chinese. But thank you for showing us around. I'm genuinely surprised that you didn't know what อาบ อบ นวด was.😊
Jay Raj just have to found the logic in those languages and some what stitched them in his brain, amazing! Me and my wife randomly met one girl back in Sweden that, when I met and talked to her, had lived in sweden for around 8 monhs, her swedish were as fluent as if she were born here, on top of that spoke arabic, dutch, french and spanish as fluent. I am truely amazed by multilingual people and I wish I had more interest in languages back in school, as 52 years old I can get around in thailand and survive using only thai, but more deep discussions are out of the question still.
Thailand is my birth country that I left 51 years ago and have never been back but three times in total. It feels like a foreign country to me now. Without many of my old school friends there I will certainly get lost on my own and feel anxious there. I admire Mr. Polyglot because I can only manage Thai, English, and French.
Wow, Jay is amazing! He can even tell the difference between old and new Chinese characters. Interesting video, but it would be hilarious if the guys went right back to the Ab Ob Nuad after the video ended 😂
Can anyone recommend any interesting Thai channels with English subtitles like Paddy has? I feel like I'll pick up words quicker when I hear people talk in Thai. I think it'll supplement my learning.
Wow. This was an interesting side to Thailand. I really enjoyed it and Stuart really amazed me. Not only fluent but also able to read and tell us what the signs meant.😀
Interesting that ‘ab-op-nuat’ is the same way that Japan operates its “soaplands” and the middle aged mindset of wives and husbands is pretty similar in each country. Although I think that is changing.
Koop khun maak kap! This Video was great! I speak Thai maybe 4-5 %! 🙂 January i go Laos and Thailand! Visit Girlfriend in Laos and we visit Thailand too! Greetings from Munich ,Germany
Where are you now khun Paddy krungthep or back in lower north shore ? Bravo to คุณ เจ พูดได้ แล้วอ่าน ได้ด้วย ❤ Naughty you at Posiden อาบ อบ นวด what a shocka 😂 i live near Rachada at Ladprao ! 🎉
interesting customer service with the lady who wouldn't even look at Raj. i experienced something similar at a chinese-owned restaurant in Phuket when I asked about a room for rent
great video and well done for including some detail that others might choose to leave out. It's a part of Thailand and deserves an airing. Interesting that the paranoia of the Chinese embassy didnt take long to kick in. Always good to see SJR pop up in a video although I can only guess what the poor noodle girl thought when she encountered him 555, All up a good look at a different area of Bangkok thats very different to the old Chinatown
My good 'ol uncle once said, he's never see someone who can solve some kind of crazy equation as a 'smart person', but it's polyglot person that he admires as the 'smart person'.
Great video, so interesting too, especially the Burmese girl language skills. BTW how does she a work permit to work in a restaurant? The CCP photographing you I found a bit disturbing. And you two, what happens in a soapy stays in a soapy 😅
There's a huge new Chinatown in Vientiane too. A lot of it looks like it was new before the pandemic and went bad during it. Hard to know though since stuff declines so fast in the tropics, maintenance is typically poor, and I think there are a lot of investment/development scams. Restaurant prices there were even in Yuan. I get the weird reactions in Chinese shops in these kinds of areas. A lot of the time an employee follows me around to make sure I'm not shoplifting. I assume they do the same with all customers and not just westerners. Totally different in Malaysia. I wonder if the soapy massage thing came from Japanese "soaplands"? There used to be a lot more Japanese pop culture influence in southeast Asia. It's been subsiding and Korean pop culture has been rising for what 20 years? I don't sense much Chinese pop culture on the other hand, it's more expat stuff, which is a different phenomenon. Anyway a great video - thanks!
I have recently visited 6 cities in china ( also hk and taipei) and no where have I seen signage with simplified Chinese made to look like traditional characters like that/ calligraphy style
You guys are chicken. You should've had a group session with 2 or perhaps 4 girls. These places have suites to accommodate such groups. Okay, you will need lots of baht for those sessions.
I hope and pray Thailand never adopt the anti-immigrant attitude so common in Western countries now. Immigrants contribute to the economy, as well as cultural richness.
Look, if I was the alleged Chinese Embassy staffer, I would’ve answered Stu with “Did you ask the lady’s permission before filming inside her shop?” Maybe Stu can read this 己所不欲勿施于人. However Chinese or East Asians in general are just not that confrontational. I know Stu is not a filming in the street guy, but I’m sure Paddy you know very well that you don’t get many people asking questions like Stu did in the video. Despite saying he feels like a Thai and having spent 30 years in Thailand. I guess culturally he never will be.
Filming a public area and filming a person speaking is not the same. You can see they didn't film the lady in the shop. The shop can tell them no filming and they wouldn't have any problems, just like the other places they visited and didn't film in the video. He asked them if they're filming, but he didn't say that they can't film him. Filming a person without asking when he can see you film him can be offensive and is just frankly being rude to that person. The act itself is confrontational! But i guess you may not get it culturely.
that could be a never ending 施于人loop depending how far you go back 😂 Mainland embassy types take very broad liberties surveilling and even intimidating not only Chinese but other foreign nationals outside of China - seldom especially here will they be called on it
@@StuartJayRaj Never expected the reply. But glad you pointed out the loop theory. But let’s be honest, how long it’s been since China or Chinese is at the wrong end of bad press by western media. My point is the alleged staffer didn’t even admit that he was filming you. But you chose to make an alleged incident public with no way of proving anything, without giving any benefit of doubt, is just not fair. And that’s exactly why we have come to where we are now that is there’s no trust between the Chinese government and any western media alikes. Your action of letting this go public justified the alleged action by an alleged Chinese embassy staffer who you were never sure or other else can prove. I like your language contents very much by the way and I’m a long time subscriber and continue will be.
