Brother, I just stumbled into bird photography last week.
So I started watching some UA-cam videos and they had these Wildlife Photographer of the Year awards and I'm telling you your images stack up with any of those I have seen.
Great channel and your newest subscriber. 👌

TY for this video, it’s so inspiring. This spot is literally around the corner from where I live now.
I hope to get some shots like yours soon. Next time you’re in the area, check out Black point road in Titusville. It’s phenomenal this time of year.

Thank you. I'm from England and some friends have done this trip with Mark. They are going back this fall mid November, I to hopefully will be going then as well. May I ask what was the temperature you had as you said chilly morning and was this December as of the date on the video ? Kind Regards Richard

Hi Richard. Thanks for the comment and watching. The temps early in the morning were around 52 Fahrenheit. By lunch it was low 60s. It was quite windy when I was there in late Nov.

Dave, great footage and images ! I’m headed down to that area end of next month, can’t wait. Mark is an amazing photographer and seems super nice. Do you mind if I 17:07 ask a couple questions about your experience? Did you find the osprey action was mostly first 2-3 hours in the morning? How fast of shutter speed did you use ? 1/2000- 1/3200 or so ? Thanks

Hi Ed, thanks for the comment and watching the movie. Mark was very generous and great to work with. I would get there just before sunrise and look at where the osprey are looking for fish. Then get ready. As soon as the sunlight is decent you will have opportunities to shoot. They are fast birds and I like to freeze the action. I shot at 1/3200 and tweaked the iso from there. Don’t be afraid to use higher iso. Most censors handle noise pretty well and it’s easy to reduce noise in post if needed. Obviously shoot in RAW.

@@thedavekruse Thanks for reply. “Go raw or go home !” Ha yes you can’t worry about iso photographing fast birds. Did you find the ospreys were feeding all morning when you were there ?

Yes, they fed constantly. One day there were hundreds of pelicans harassing the osprey. Once the pelicans thinned out it was much better for osprey opportunities. I’d say there was around a four hour window of high activity at sunrise.
