I’m about to try it out! Excited about the iPad version, I don’t like working on my laptop. I’ll be releasing a series of tutorials on Affinity Designer, in particular for pattern design. I’m thinking how to utilize Publisher to maybe create eBooks. Exciting stuff! :)
Been waiting for this app to release ever since I got my iPad Pro a year ago. Having a fully featured publishing app that I can fit in my sling bag and take with me wherever I go is extremely convenient as a graphic design student. I can see myself using this for personal projects way more than InDesign thanks to studio link. I hate having to switch apps to edit assets in InDesign. Studio link is a feature that just makes sense to me.
Many thanks for an excellent introduction to Publisher on the iPad. I’m in the process of moving to Publisher on the Mac and am greatly encouraged to see how usable and comprehensive even the iPad version is.
Hi Tim. @10:21, my Publisher on iPad does not have the shortcut tool. It shows an X (delete) above a trashcan. Searching for "shortcut" on the Help menu tells me about the Command Controller, but that icon doesn't exist on my screen. I pressed the "?" to reveal the purpose of each icon, and none of them are for the Command Controller. Not available in Preferences either. Version 2.0, if that makes any difference. Edit to add: I just updated to Version 2.0.4 and it's not there, either.
Hi - not sure why that's happening, but maybe someone on the Affinity Forum will have an answer. Here's a link directly to it. forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/forum/43-affinity-on-ipad-questions/ Hope that helps.
Thanks for this demonstration. I have two questions: 1.) Can I open idml files with the iOS app? 2.) How can I get access to/install additional colour profiles?
Hi - I haven't been able to find anywhere to install ICC profiles directly. However, Affinity does support opencolorIO which is a colour management system. The best thing to do is to look in the help in Publisher and find Using opencolorIO. This will show you how to configure it in Publisher. Regarding the idml question, yes you can. Just use Import document within the main Open Document area. Don't forget to embed your images into the idml otherwise you'll potentially have to relink them. Hope that helps! Best wishes - Tim
Many thanks for the video! Will fully watch it at night, for sure! Could you please let me know whether I could run V2 on an Air-5thgen-iPad or only on a PRO device?! Thanks once again! Subscribed, of course!
Hi Alexandre - according to the specs on the Affinity website yes! :) affinity.serif.com/en-gb/press/newsroom/affinity-v2-sets-new-standards-in-creative-software/
Quicl quetion, on Publisher iPad can we space the text automaticaly to fill a box? For example, instead of we get some text lines bigger then other the program automaticaly create a space between the words to make every line the same lengh? Thanks
It sounds like you mean justification. On the alignment tools you have left, centre, right and the icon with horizontal lines all the same length is justified (full width justification). These are in the type panel.
The Affinity product is a must have for both Mac OS and IOS.There is nothing that comes close to it in my opinion.Very powerful and no subscription.(no I am not affiliated with affinity!)Just my opinion.!!😊
I have the iPad 8th gen. I have been able to edit adobe capture vector files in affinity designer. I haven't hit any limitations yet. Looking forward to trying publisher this week.
@@JessicaNeidingHaverly Just wondering if you already have any experience on working with publisher on your iPad? I'm thinking about getting a 9th gen one and cannot find any info about how the V2 Affinity apps are working on the older regular iPads (not Air or Pro ones).
@vaa114 it works. I've tried V2 photo, designer, and publisher. They all run smooth on my iPad 8th gen normy. I'm sure there is a processing power ceiling but I haven't hit it yet.
How different is the UI between the version used in this course and the iPad v2 software? Will it be confusing to follow along and find the correct tool? Will you be releasing an update to the course specific to the V2 software? I only have access to my iPad Pro at this time.
Hi John. There isn’t a Publisher on the iPad course. That is coming 😊 Our current course for Publisher is for desktop but it would be a bit confusing to try and follow that for iPad because although things are similar, many functions are in different places. You’re best waiting a few weeks for the full Publisher iPad course. 😊
They won’t. Affinity is a small team with a massive project. There just simply isn’t the market for it. I’m a pic user but when it comes to tablets, android just doesn’t cut it. iPad is levels above in terms of performance, usability and stability.
@Alexandre Vaysse Thanks. It looks like I have to get an iPad Pro since I got all V2 of Affinity's products. I just have to stick with the PC version for now. I was hoping that they can make it available for my Samsung S8 ultra.
@@XeunMasterhub yeah, since there are so many different hardware specs, so flavors, and screen ratios of android it can be quite difficult to develop for if you are not a major company. Not to mention there are only a few exceptional android tablets out there (the s8 ultra being one of them) among many many duds since Apple took over the market. There are only so many iPads out there to optimize for and they all have the same screen ratio and similar processors. But I agree, Affinity on the S8 Ultra would be awesome.
@Lego Minifig they shouldn't worry about optimizing every tablet out there. They should focus only on the ones that have a stylus Pen and the right hardware specs.
Because its a beefy Software and they Had to put in all the tools of the Desktop Version😅 did U ever tried InDesign ? This is overcomplicated stuff haha
I will take courses from you any day. So Calming voice and clear ideas
So lovely of you to say. Thank you so much :)

I’ve had both Photo and Designer for a week now, you get the hang of it after a session or 2. These apps are great
