Certainly one of my life's most memorable events was during my only visit to Ireland, when Tadhg O'Driscoll brought me to this holy place and was able to show me the two unmarked graves where my McCarthy ancestors of Heir Island were buried. I can close my eyes and travel there despite my physical body being in the states.
Writing from Canada. My earliest known ancestors were a Connell and Dukelow, and Mary Connell is believed to have died in Ireland, but her husband Peter Dukelow came I believe with a 2nd wife named Eliza (last name unknown) and their several children. Thank you for this lovely video, well done! I recognize a lot of the surnames from those that left Ireland and went to Rochester, New York, USA. If I can get back to Ireland one day, I shall certainly be visiting your Heritage Centre!
y 5th great Uncle was Jack Long who built the church for Reverend Wright. Thank you for bringing the story to life for me. Please can you do some more around Skibbereen for those of us who are unable to visit at the present time?!
My Great grandfather William Wolfe who built Ilen House. I believe he owned Stream Mill. My grandfather was George Henry Wolfe who then owned Stream Mill with his brother John Joseph Wolfe. G.H Wolfes wife Catherine (Kitty) is also buried there. I would love to know more history of Stream Mill and Ilen house. I am the son of Frank Wolfe and live in Larne Co.Antrim but hope to get down to Skibbereen and look for my roots. Peter Wolfe.
