just discovered this channel, absolutely great. your mixes are insanely good. thanks a lot attractive lady
do you also play an instrument? i love your style of music. i have been trying for a while to mix metal guitars with this type of electronic spacey music. do you have tipps on recording guitar or do you only work with digital instruments?
Congrats for being on the cover of "Electronic Rising" Playlist of Spotify!
There is never enough Arrangement tutorials. I believe it’s the reason n.1 why people don’t finish their songs.
Yes. I think the 2 by far most important skills to learn are 1. Sound Selection and 2. Arrangement. The problem with that is that those are topics that are in my opinion relatively hard to teach / learn. Doing a Synth Tutorial á la "turn this knob like that to get a sound like XYZ" is just easier, i think, and thus more popular in the tutorial bubble.
I'm currently studying law in germany and through that something i always kind of knew got super obvious:
Basic principles, abstract concepts and a deep understanding of the underlying system is what gets you somewhere... not detailed knowledge in certain niche topics (like, for example, designing sounds like artists XYZ).
I find it really baffeling how little tutorials there are on stuff like that. I mean condensed, not bloated knowledge, just like in this video.
When i started out long ago (i come from a guitar / metal backgrund and thus didn't have to start from the VERY beginning) the first thing i did was look up "how to make synths like Skrillex" or something. Nice to get started, i guess, but like... i didn't know anything about production in general, so whatever i made sounded like trash, really.
But basic principles, abstract concepts and a deep understanding are really, really hard to teach, i think. But so, so incredibly important. You get tiny little pieces of info in a lot of tutorials from other people, but you need to consume hundereds of tutorials to get an overview and at that point you probably forgot most of those little tips... i know that because i did it that way. But then again, that was like 10 years ago or so and i think the whole music production thing got a lot more accessible because tutorials got a lot better.
But stuff like "Here is exaxtly what you need to pay attention to to select a good kick. A good kick has these characteristica and is shaped like that. If you like the sound but the shape isn't good, here's how to form that kick into that shape." is so much more valuable. Same for synths, or any sound, really. Or, just like here, and overvierw over good arrangement practices.
1000% agree
These tuts are super helpfull, but you can watch milion arrangement tutorials and never finish a song, its a skill in its own that one has to practice. I finished most things when i imposed dead simple rule on myself, finish it or delete it before moving to next one. That really helped me to finsih tracks that was worth it and get rid of useless noise on my hdd at the same time.
@@sssncodesstuff3364 good idea i guess if its fire you would be inspired to finnish it
#word
This was such an important video for me to see. All 4 tips were things I've been suffering from in my work. Not only did you explain the issues comprehensively, you used visual aids to help get the point across and showed examples of the issues and their solutions. Thank you so much!
Do you have tracks i can hear?
Alice's tutorials are the best because she gets straight to the point. She respects my time, and I, in turn, respect her head bop cam.
I love how you waste no time getting to the details and thoroughly explaining the concepts instead of throwing around a bunch of vague terms. your explanations are always super concise and informative! (also the sound design of all the examples you showed was just amazing)
I love the marble analogy! I end up with a lot going on in my tracks and it sounds like a mess of noise, but thinking about it more like magnifying certain parts of the track will help me so much when I make tracks now. Thank you for the helpful video as always!
Cheers! 😊✌
I can not stress this enough, the sound design and melody make that lead in the last loop absolutely incredible! I'm in love with it, I've watched/listened to it over a dozen times at least. Not to sound demanding but I really hope that loop becomes a released track. Something about it really resonates with me. Thank you for existing, Alice!😊❤
I think your way of explaining things is very unique, but also very powerful. I think demonstrating with physical items as opposed to using just playlist clips (like your last arrangement video I saw) is even better! Great job and thank you so much for sharing this. Very few tutorials show this kind of information. Thanks Alice!
Thank you again foor the great explanation on arrangment it is so helpful to me lately. Since i use the tripple top down method from your other video when making a track it is just so much easier to create a full song without getting stuck.much appreciate it !
Please keep these amazing videos coming! You have helped me so much along my way on becoming a better producer! Thank you
Arrangement is THE bit I struggle with the most. I can come up with lots of chunks of reasonable music, but can really glue them together. This is a fantastic video. 👏
THIS!
There are many channels on YT I watch, but U nail it every time - and your channel is by far my favourite one 😎
Thank you Alice, these tutorials are great!🙏🏻❤️
Your content is superb, thank you. Arrangement is so important - I still, even after years of practising, find that I resist committing properly to this stage and get stuck in the dreaded 8-16 bar loop hell.
I loved the explanations with the visuals. Super helpful thank you. 🧡🐳
This video is amazing! The arrangement videos are of great help to me :) keep it up !
I love the way to you talk about music production its really entertaining and informative keep it up this channel is a gem
Alice, thank you so much for this! This video popped up at just the perfect time...and it's the 5th video of an arrangement SERIES?!?! Thank you thank you thank you! Any chance the loop you're using for the last section is a full song? I keep playing it on repeat😅
Thank you for the amazing tips! Making them crave is a huge one ☝🏽
Alice Yalcin, you are amazing at what you do. You’re a great teacher and have a wealth of knowledge across all aspects of dance music production, the industry, and the ever-important understanding of the context of the DJ & dance floor in the production process & approach
Outstanding tutorial as usual! Thank you! 💗
Thank you! 😊
Great ideas as always Alice👍
Brilliant video. Thank you for making this. More such tips on arrangement would be amazing Alice! Cheers!
There are always new things to cover when it comes to arrangement 😊🙌
Alice, love your content. Took up Music Production during the work from home due to Covid. It has been an amazing journey. I seemed to have this idea that I would make kind of a mix between alternative rock and trance. Something in the middle. But, its hard to invent the wheel when you have a full time job and cant dedicate to Music Production. Now I realize I have to stick to a genre format and be creative in the limitations this provides. After looking at Melodic Trance/Techno like Maceo Plex, I think I found my Genre.
Thank you for talking about arrangement and energy, this is really helpful
That is one of the smartest and most effective videos I've ever watched on this platform. Very very well done!
I love this videos because most of the times they show things that I do sometimes and lead to a great result but that most of the times I forgot and then you make a video and I just remember back. (And of course you always add something new 😅)
This is gold information!!! Thanks ❤️
Hey there! Great video as always! There is actually a song I'm really curious about which is Anna's new Cosmovision. I'm desperate for that hard bass/saw thing which is lfo'ed right in the second drop. Is there any tutorials on your channel already that I could not see or is it possible for you to remake that particular sound?
I work only on hardware, so it’s fun to watch these videos and try to apply them to some of the arrangements I have on my MPC.
Thanks as always.
WHAT A MASTERCLASS! I really love your videos. Thank you always
Really useful, another great video from Alice 😍
Amazing video, thank you Alice!!
brilliant video! It's so important! It's key! Thank you!
You are the best teacher, you always pointout the most critical points. Thank you!
Energy and feel + emotion .I could hear it ,But never was able to translate it into sound .Propper use of Multitap delay and finely tuned Cuttoffs ,sidechaining percusions .Thanks Alice
Always good words & images to explain us !!! Thx ❤
Yay!! 😊✌
You consistently put out videos with great content. Thanks for sharing your expertise!
Happy to help, cheers Bobby! ❤
Some of the very best info I've ever gotten about making music. New subscriber and you alone can change a person's music lol thx a lot!
Super informative and Visual! Love your sound too, great techno. ❤️
The amount of work for getting the details right is obvious. Much thanks, much love! (Subscribing)
Thank you for the awesome videos I have a few questions if you have time please reply.
When you are prepping for your Dj set do you belong to a pool where do you get your tracks? A Dj pool or do you use something like beatport? Baatport could be overwhelming how would you find the gems.?
Where did you learn so much about production your pretty young but very knowledgeable.
Do you recommend any vocal processor effects to make someone that can sing a little sound better maybe almost like a vocoder but not too processed? Cool effect like exhale but on. Mic channel as an effect
.thank you
Loved the visual aids!
Really informative and well explained video. great track as well .
I enjoyed this video a lot! Thanks a lot!
This channel is infinitely helpful. Thank you!
The goddess of production tutorials!
Great tips! Thank you :)
I was about to comment "what is the sick track that plays at the 4:30 mark?" And then you said it's your upcoming track, wow! It sounds so awesome!! And, as always, fantastic production tips. Thanks!
I'm 10 seconds into the video and I'm thinking "Has Alice lost her marbles?" :D
😅
This was the right video for me right now! Thank u very much
And you are also cooking up Psytrance ! That sounds bloody good !
I SEND LOVE FOR UR WORK
this is so good! thanks for this tutorial
Looking forward to this!!
Cheers Tim! 😊✌
Very useful tips and tricks 💯 something new I need to apply on my tracks, thanks Alice!
Happy to help, and good luck with your tracks! 😊✌
@@Alice-Efe 🙏👍💯 Thank you
Alice Que bien interpretas el lenguaje musical yo solo hablo español pero sigo tus videos y aprendo siempre algo nuevo muchas Gracias, te ves hermosa y desde mi país Chile: buenas vibras para ti...Like 👍
Excellent! Thank you a lot.
Your sound is amazing 🤩
Hey Alice, I remember you had a video about boris brejcha's groove, it was based on the night owl track, is it deleted? Is it possible to still see that somewhere? Thank you!
The second tip was extremely helpful!
You are literally now the queen of music production on youtube
I love Ur work. And i didn't know that this is Ur track. Damn good.
😎🤜🤛
game changing concept for me and I've been producing for years. clip automation is the secret sauce!
Hey Alice, How did you make the first section with the wet and dry? I can't find a way to make this.
Thanks Alice! Another 10 minutes of brilliance… 🙂❤🔥🙌🏼
Aww thanks a ton! 😊
Thank you good tips!
thank you ! very good tutorial
Thanks for your videos they are amazing, how many hours of video is your course "A first step to start learning music production: Ableton Fundamentals" ?
Thanks for sharing ❤
Dear alice, how do you make the mixer knob? to effect diffrently on the wet and dry channels? love1
Great video. My biggest problem is the 4th you mentioned. It is because I listen to my tracks soooo msny times that I get bored and decide to add more and more ideas but I refuse to make long songs 😅 I like petshop boys tracks like AXIS (crazy instrumental with 200 layers) or ROYKSOPP or old Depeche Mode and they tend to fill everything. My influences are not good for techno 😅
The way you explain 💪makes sense
Thank You!🎶
You're a great teacher thank u
Every producer - regardless of genre - should spend these ten minutes just to see how to make subtle and intricate changes to a production that give that production life and interest. You're still the best at this, 100%. Can't wait for your new track.
u r the best, alice!
This was really good!
Good call on the 8 bar loops, I tend to use only 4 way too often!
Starting with 8 bar at least tends to be more flexible on the long run, give it a try
yeah, thats a biggy
@@Alice-Efe wat about 16 bar
First Track Awesome Alice
Thank you Alice.
A good follow-up to this might be applying these techniques to a bunch of different genres. I still suffer from these problems but it seems to be because when I try to implement things like this, I wind up breaking the genre of the track. Does that make sense? In my recent experience this is happening trying to create tech house. Electro house (Not main room) is another.
imagine automating your master like at 1:42 LMAO
in all seriousness tho, pacing and dynamics are suuuuper important, great tips as always, Alice!
Thank you your amazing m8
Gasp, I never even noticed. This seems like a lot to think about and something I'll lose my mind obsessing over.
Just WOW. thanks!!!!
The marble demonstration worked so well for me.
Thanks for this
Hi, are these the actual stems from the bicep track ?
great like always
That's why my music sound boring! (not bad but boring)
Great explanation and VERY educational.
I do really love your videos.
Icing on the cake. Best video for me as of now. 👊
beautiful music, so lively .., she is a genius!
Hi Alice! Just wondering if you have a breakdown for the sound design of the last track? would love to see how the bass and reese were done. Thank you!
Hi! Do you mean Shaded (This is my last track)? Because that one doesn't have a reese but maybe you mean Unsettle?
Oh correction not a Reese, but that fat lead sound! The one in section 4. Really like the elements in the track, would love to take a peep under the hood! 😇
Good stuff!
Thanks a ton Orion! 😊✌️
❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥 thank you!
OH MY THIS IS GOLDEN!!!!!
I love this bicep track :)
really sick track!
The end track example really remind me of the band lust for youth. If anybody can help me for resources with that sort of production , samples, or what it’s even called genre wise I’m all ears. I’ve just got into dancier production and don’t know the first thing about it but that that’s the type I want to make.
You're the best!
