- I've been following this hack's progress for a while, and as soon as I saw that a complete version was out, I was eager to make a playthrough video as soon as possible.
Every level in the game has been redesigned and greatly extended, and all the bosses are much more aggressive and durable than before. While Contra normally takes about 15 minutes to beat, this amped up version takes considerably longer, as you can see.
This run was okay, if sloppy at times. I was mainly just aiming for a no continue single segment run, and I did manage this with a fair reserve of lives at the end. A few of the deaths were just careless, often from missing a jump or duck when I intended to do so. Other deaths are a result of cheap bullshit. This is a pretty casual run, and I take it slow to mitigate the relentless onslaught. With a little more practice I could finish with much fewer mistakes.
Overall, Revenge of the Red Falcon is a solid hack. If you enjoy the original but find it way too easy, then you should check this one out.

Edgar González His aggressive tracking jump and attack seem pretty impossible to dodge. If there is a way to avoid this I'm not seeing it.
Never knew this existed. Man the levels are really long.
Yeah. It would take many hours nonstop to beat it because of no save/load. Very frustrating if you fail on last stage

Author of the hack, here. I changed the code. It's now "B A B A B A B A B A", and it gives 20 lives, instead of 8.

Contra 4 on Nightmare Mode... I love the little gift they give you for starting Stage 1 on Nightmare Mode, in the form of a kick ass remix of the original "Jungle Theme" from the original game.
What emulator? I played on FCEUX and the last room in second base is different and ridiculous.

laser is the weirdest weapon in nes contra you can only shoot once
if you try to shoot two the first shot will disapear

This hack was made using a NES Contra editor called Red Falcon, for level design, and all the code changes (ASM) were done only using an hex editor (HexEdit in that case).
