All of those reasons. It is fun and my whole family gets involved. It is a good educational experience for the kids. We enjoy the fresh eggs and I share them with both my family and my husband's family. They are the sweetest pets and useful all around the garden.
Gotta ask how many roosters do you have? What is your hen to rooster ratio? And do they all sleep in the same coop? Super curious. Thank you in advance.
At the time of this video, I had about 6 roosters. I'm not 100% sure how many hens I have, but I do know I had too may roosters. The roosters didnt fight with each other but they got on the hens way too much, and pulled their back feathers out. So that is how I know I had way too many roosters. Since this video, we have reduced the roosters down to 3. I can tell the ladies are healing and doing much better.
Do you mainly raise the chickens for an at-home egg availability life or is it more about the thrill and fun of it all?
