    That's a lot of machinery and sensitive measuring equipment. And we didn't see what was downstairs! Struck me as a well oiled machine and a calm, easy going workplace. And I agree 100% that dogs make a workplace even better 👍

    I wonder how much explosives it would take to shear off Portland and Seattle, sail them down the coast, and park them next to San Fransisco. Everyone would be happier.

      You could tell by talking to Becky and the staff that everyone there felt that way and I think you can even hear Becky say that in the beginning too. Everyone just seemed genuinely happy and that they enjoyed their jobs.

    Coos Bay love the area. The area is very interesting. North bend was home to a company that made powder tricklers sometime in the 60s

    I would think that A- well maintained equipment is very important, B- tolerance is maintained, at every stage, C- properly trained employees that have pride in their skills, D- extremely accurate inspection equipment is vital. Miss any in this small market arena and you quickly drop in your business. From the visit and q&a session it appears that these folks have everything in place to continue to have a backlog. Similar to quality barrel makers in the need to wait a few for a product that you consider the best, it’s worth ordering early if you desire accuracy.

    Good timing F-Class John. I was looking for a reamer for a new gun build. I wanted to use my own reamer to assure consistency from barrel to barrel.
    I put my order in with JGS this morning. 👍👍

    ED and EL are actually on the far left of the drawing. I had to ask about them recently and Jasmine helped me understand them. They are extended length and diameter dimensions which allow the reamer to be re-sharpened.

    Thanks for a super interesting video! As a old retired machinist/toolmaker it was eye opening on how chamber reamers are produced today. I used to setup and operate those old style Cincinnati tool and cutter grinders (aka, hand grinders in the video) to produce carbide reamers used for producing carbide heading dies used in the production of bolts and screws. Those new CNC grinding machines are really amazing and actually seem like magic the way they can grind all the tapers and angles necessary for the finished product. I’ll bet each CNC grinder cost $125,000 - $200,000. Possibly even more. Just wondering if PAC-Nor rifle barrels are still in business up there in southern Oregon? Do any FClass shooters use PAC-Nor barrels? Just wondering as I witnessed some remarkable groups shot with many different calibers which a custom rifle builder had produced. Thing that was interesting to me was they all had 3 groove rifling!! Recommend by the rifle builder. Thanks for your videos John!!!!

    so, canucks who want to convert rifles into pistols due to Justine turdeau could chop at shoulder and consider gap freebore for the new lower power loading. A .308 being good choice but also 5.56 into shorter version of .350legend... Or maybe a gunsmith lathe-made mod that maintains barrel groove ID to the new (shortened) case end, in SS or chrome moly, same as barrel, plus silver solder.

  • @northernsky6117

    John. How can you calculate required freebore to the bullet? Is there a way to calculate that using bullets bearing surface info and reamer print info? If so, what figures to use from print?

    • @FClassJohn
      @FClassJohn  Рік тому +2

      I've seen it done different ways but this is where consulting your gunsmith is probably the best since he's going to be doing your stuff. But typically someone will take their cartridge, load round so the bullet is roughly 1/2 to 3/4 into the neck and then use experience and known data for a round to determine how much freebore to end at. It various from round to round and bullet to bullet. JGS can probably give you a window for certain cartridges that they're familiar with but will probably refer you to your gunsmith as well.

    • @northernsky6117

      @@FClassJohn Thanks for the info👍

    • @bradkennedy1327
      @bradkennedy1327 Рік тому +1

      The best thing to do is to seat a bullet exactly where you want it in the cartridge. Then ship the dummy round to JGS. It will be measured and a freebore will be suggested from there for that specific load. Final freebore is decided by you, the customer. Or, your gunsmith.

    I really enjoyed this video... They made a spec 6.5 PRC reamer for me, I am sure it is just something they have in inventory as I didn't want anything fancy... But I'll tell you, for my first chamber reamer, BOY was that unit pretty, just absolutely beautifully machine ground. Eagle Eye recommended JGS a few years ago on ISYOUR6COVERED's channel in the live chat... So, I jumped on that and I was not disappointed. Really nice work.
