I covered a significant potion of my hand with paint until I found my skintone. That was quite a challange however I learned alot. Thank you very much.
I can remember one of your Classes when you told us - Complementary Colors can be used to desaturate the color - But I never realized they mix into grey together - I was alsways under the asumption two complementaries make brown? This is also the short answer when you google "How to mix brown" - I'm confused now so I hope in Part 3 we see some browns :D
All three primaries mix into grey. Complementaries will mix to a colorful version of that grey as it is the same principle, but different amount of primary colors mixed in. Means, red/magenta is completementary to green (green is mixed from primaries yellow/blue) ... means you are mixing red/Magenta with a certain amount of yellow and blue if you add the complementary that is green. Is this understandable? Hahaha, might have to read again myself.

@@sniperbuddyfabi Braun kommt vor grau, korrekt. Alle Brauntöne sind entsättigte Versionen der satten Primär- oder Sekundär farben. Ein braun baut nicht immer auf orange auf, mische mal gelb mit violet oder rot/magenta mit grün. In diesen Bereichen bekommt man ganz viele Töne die zu Braun tendieren. Ich hoffe, dass wird in dem nächsten Teil der Farbtheorie ein wenig klarer, da hier viel gemischt wird zur Übung. Ich bin dran, dauert aber noch ;)

Got myself some high quality paints and followed along with both videos. It’s a lot fun approaching colors this way. Mixed my own skin tone as well. I have to thank you once more. With this series something finally clicked whithin my brain and it kinda helped me a lot. Just yesterday was trying to figure out how to paint the cabin of a rover mini and then, after watching this video, i went, took my swimming googles, looked at them and the way they looked under the light and tried to figure out the colors, and finally, without following a tutorial, i managed to recreate the effect i wanted for those window pannels. Not the smoothest of gradients, i still have a lot of practice ahead of me, but i was amazed that i actually pulled the look i was aiming for. PS: as a side note, when in the past i would have used black and white to brighten and darken my orange midtone, now thanks to your video series i went for adding blue to my orange mix to create the shadow, and yellow to lighthen it up, and i think that made a great difference on the final look.

I wonder if sunsets are the reason we enjoy complementary colours. They are complementary because the atmosphere splits blue light out of the spectrum, leaving yellow. Millenia of enjoying sunsets perhaps made us appreciate that split.
Just discovered your channel and very impressed! Your color theory ( CMY K=Black & White) is the same I used in the commercial printing company I owned. Would you agree with me that the ready made (recipe) colors are similar to what I would used the Pantone Matching System in printing?
I'm 6 minutes in and I've heard hue and value being interchangeably used a couple times, though this is not correct. If English isnt your first language, this might be a translation error? Typically (in English), hue is used to describe the actual color (red, blue, yellow, etc) and value is used to describe the lightness or darkness of the hue.

After the last video, I went out and bought artist's acrylic primary colors. I was wondering what are the best black and white to get? I forget the brand, but I can find that out when I get home
Vallejo GAME colour black. And the pure white from Vallejo MODEL colour, whatever it's name is. That's just one opinion, though, and it's 9 years old. There might be better ones, but I'm not one to leave a good question unanswered for long.

Roman: I personally prefer the Schmincke Titanium White and a matte Black by the german company Kreul. Golden is good too I heard. I all Fairness I do not think there is the best. It is a matter of personal Taste and you and only you can figure that out by painting with different ones.
@@timothythorne9182 In artists acrylics you have a chance of codified naming which makes it easier. As Roman said, for white you're looking for Titanium as opposed to zinc white.
