Jason is a good bass player, just found himself in an impossible situation. Not his fault.
I don't think there's anyone left who dislikes Jason. I think almost all Metallica fans wish they'd just add him back in along with Rob, or at least leave that option open for him. He was more than functional as a member of the band, and he represents a huge part of their history.

Truth. Lars is such a tool.
Would Cliff tolerate such insane arrangements? I think not. The drumming is way more interesting on AJFA than everything else they’ve done. Could be argued this was Lars’ defining moment, and it happened because he could dominate the process more.
Kind of irrelevant. If Cliff was there it wouldn't have been a talking point in the first place. It was partially done as a way to haze Jason.

Never noticed how big of an influence Geddy Lee was on Cliff. That part on RTL has Geddy’s finger prints all over it.
Even the tone… that mid range fuzz… thats heavily inspired by Geddy Lee.

Blackened probably wouldn't sound anything like it does since Jason wrote the main riff in that song, but you do a great simulation of how it might've sounded had Cliff done it.

Biggest pain in a musician's soul is when your instrument is broken or has a functioning problem and you can't afford to repair it...god I wish i could repair my bass...Cliff was an inspiration to me and to more other bassists out there.
That's why i thought myself as early as possible to fix as much of things on my bass as i can

If Cliff had lived Metallica would likely have been a better band than they have been since his death.
They were still good even after his unfortunate passing.
Unfortunately I do feel Cliff would of done the same thing like when he left his one band, Trauma and also with some convincing then.
I don’t think he would of stayed with Tallica after Justice. I think he would of left.

Such a fantastic video. I remember Justice coming out and I'd saved up just enough pocket money to buy it. I woke up that morning and ran to the record shop, they didn't even have it out on the shelves yet. I ran back home and played that record and it changed my life, thank you for doing what you do. Awesome sound for a project I wanted for 35+ years ago!!! I can't believe I missed this for 2 years. Thank you for explaining also. Sometimes your bass sounds like extra distorted Geddy Lee, sometimes like Michael Anthony or Joey DeMeo!!! I'm a permanent subscriber and hope for more hybrid music, either album to album or swapping musicians...love it!!! The bands should also, as it generates creativity and recognition and fane and compensation at times.

Man I've liked your videos for a while now, but you said something that I have always thought myself: Cliff never let his own talents over shadow a song. He knew when to reserve himself to being a traditional bass player and when he knew that he could utilize his talents to not only make the song shine, but to make the song and the band shine as well.

The way I like to describe the bass guitar's role is as the bridge between rhythm and melody (and, of course, we can add some harmonies, root transpositions, etc. to taste) :) Thank you for doing this, so I didn't have to ;)

I learned that riff from Four Horseman with two fingers, still play it as such, but it's 100% difficult. I can play that part of RTL for a few seconds before I have to bust out the ring finger.

Andriy you are a really awesome player and you do have Cliff's essence. What is interesting to me is that on other channels on the comments people compare Cliff to Jason to Rob and who is better. What have i noticed is that most people agree that Jason has the attitude, Rob the technique and Cliff well to me he was Metallica he was an all well rounded player. What some people fail to see is that all 3 would be around the same age right now (Cliff being a couple of years older) Cliff already was making the greatest music of all time and Jason and Rob not even heard of yet. So add 30 years more to Cliff's playing and musical ability he would light years passed both Jason and Rob. I lean more towards Cliff because to me he was Metallica he was the musically inclined person in the band. You can see that after he died Metallica has never been the same. I first saw Metallica when i was 12 years old they played a small club where I live during the Ride the lightning, and then 2 years later at the coliseum with Master of Puppets. Then in 91 and 97 at the local college stadium. they came 2 years ago but I did not go see them this time. I was not to excited, this time around. any way food for thought, how many bands move to another city for their bass player? and how many bands have a bass solo on their debut album?
