    In our lifetime, there will never be another player of her caliber. She and Venus changed the face and game of tennis when they came onto the scene. I remember Amelie Mauuresmo, Lindsey Davenport, Elena Dementieva, and the William Sisters were all a part of Big Babe Tennis back in the late 90's, early 2000's. From the way the dress, the power and finesse, the William's Sisters did that. They made the ladies get in the gym and add the power to their game stroke for stroke and it was a beautiful thing to witness. I still have recorded VHS tapes from their early matches that I will cherish for a long time to come.

    • @akizaizinskii
      @akizaizinskii Рік тому +1

      How did they change tennis?
      There were other power players before the Williams sisters and both modeled their game after Monica Seles, another power player. If anything, Seles and Pierce were the one who invented big babe tennis, not the Williams sisters.
      And your comment about the Williams sisters making other players hit the gym is also false. The first female player who started going to the gym was Margaret Court who was a physical beast in her own era and she regularly trained in the gym with the men. The one who perfected the gym regimen and healthy lifestyle was Navratilova, before the Williams sisters were born.

      @@akizaizinskii You're H8ing!
      All tennis professionals are great and power-players. Some are better than others...Besides, who would want to model Seles after getting assaulted on the court like that? Seles was great in her day and all the rest were great in theirs⚫

    • @co9971
      @co9971 4 місяці тому +1

      @@akizaizinskii Neither Pierce nor Seles "invented" big babe tennis. Tennis was just trending in that direction. The coaches that were instrumental in pushing a few big named players (Seles, Capriati, Pierce) to play in this manner were the ones who invented it (Bolliteri and Rick Macci). That said, the Williams sisters contribution to women's tennis is that they raised the bar on the amount of athleticism they brought. I would even argue that before the Williamses, none of the big babes combined their power with aggressive all court play.(Monica, Seles, Pierce were all strict baseliners. Davenport moved like molasses and didn't beef up her gym regimen until mid 2001 but even then her movement wasnt enough to hang with the Williamses/we didnt see aggressive all court play from Justine until about 2004).

    • @co9971
      @co9971 4 місяці тому +1

      @@akizaizinskii Margaret court wasnt a physical beast in the same sense as Martina or the Williamses. Margaret trained a lot for endurance. She would play a lot of matches and then go for a run after training. The real grandmother of power tennis was Navratilova but Bjorn Borg before her had pioneer the nutrition/gym regimen aspect of being a tennis player and Navratilova just followed suit. All that said, in the retirement of Navratilova, there were still a lot of women that refused to put on muscle out of fear of looking like a man (Hingis/Kournikova said so for magazine interviews and to shade the Williamses circa 1998). But the Williamses/Capriati were winning everything so the top women had no choice but to follow suit, if they were going to win. Even Mary Pierce did it ahead of the 2000 French, where it was reported that she was taking creatine (Jennifer did so as well) - creatine also contributed to long term injuries on both their parts.

    So....was the stare-down a form of intimidation? I don't get it...

      the stare downs were mainly for a few reasons. 1. players played two levels above their normal against her. 2. Some players said stuff about her. 3. She was super competitive. but it is only for specific players who rubbed her the wrong way. Novak also does it to certain players. I do it too.

      How about you learn to spell ghetto before attempting to use the word 😂! You take the "cr" out of crass and that's you😂
