Thanks for making this video George. I've just gone through my shop and I wasn't even aware that a few items were labelled 'handmade'! Can't thank you enough...
You're so welcome! I’m glad you were able to resolve this before it was too late. I was honestly shocked to see such high-profile companies on the list!
This topic is so important and I so appreciate you telling us. Thank you.
You’re so welcome!
You can't trust that it saying they listed it as handmade means they didn't list the production partner. Some categories of item are shunted to one of the new designations regardless of what you put in the made by box. For example, my greeting cards and postcards all said "sourced by" even though I designed them and correctly listed the print partner, and the tshirts all said handmade, even though I correctly said I designed them and a partner made them. They also listed some of my original paintings, the original, not a print, as "designed by" even though I put that they were made by me and only me. That mismatch may still be what tripped the suspension bot, but they didn't give us direct control over how it labeled it, so unless you can see they definitely didn't list any print partner, I wouldn't trust that was related.
Does that site give you any direct indications of problems on the shop that might have triggered a suspension or are you making guesses based on the snapshot of the shop? (I ask because I got caught in this and have no idea what I was suspended for so if it's got a list of things that are wrong it might be worth trying it myself)
To ensure accuracy, I cross-referenced my own shops. Sourced by comes up as "other" on the program. I used Wayback (yes, that's really the name, lol) to see how the other companies listed their items before the closure.
For instance, SCY never had a production partner listed on Etsy. The faux leather company should have been categorized as "sourced by", which would have appeared as "other" on the program. When I cross-referenced their shop with Wayback, I found that most of their items were still listed as handmade as well.
Based on this portion of the software, it is very accurate. So far, this is the only feature I've tested. I have yet to explore other parts of the software, but I'll continue using it for the next month and compare it with the other tools I currently use.
@@EtsyMentor Thank you for the extensive reply! Also I apologize if any of my aggravation at etsy came through my previous comment. I'm annoyed with them not you! Your video is very informative. Thanks!
It’s all good, I don’t take it personally! In fact, I appreciated your comment because I’d question anyone making those claims too-like, what research did you actually do? lol.
I always try to gather as much information as I can for each video to ensure everyone gets all the details. That’s also why I made it clear that I haven’t explored other parts of the software yet. I believe in being as transparent as possible.
And I totally get your frustration with Etsy. It’s really annoying when they don’t disclose things about closures and expect you to just know.
That "handmade" section is easy to inadvertently skip over. I send things to Etsy drafts first to review and update bits. If it was perfect when I sent it from Printify I have to be on the ball to be sure to fill in that bit that is only done in ETSY.
I think that maybe some shops just get confused with the "I did" choice because they made the design. Then they carry on this error to every single item in their shop. I was confused in the beginning as well and needed UA-cam creators to set me straight.
Aside:
I've been listing a lot for Q4 and Etsy sent me an email about payments. I clicked on "make a payment" but the link went to a "sorry" page rather than the payment page.
This is 100% true. That’s exactly what happens, and it’s not entirely their fault-the options were very vague. In September, Etsy did an update that added more clarity to the listings and selection options. However, many people may not have noticed the updates, or they assume it’s a one-time task and never revisit it, which is definitely not a good approach.
Great video!
Glad you enjoyed it
another great video!!!
Thank you! I’ve already received a few emails from people working on their listings, so I’m glad I released this before it’s too late!
@@EtsyMentor yes!!! I’m looking through mine. I don’t have any that are listed as hand made or are copyright but I’m checking titles and descriptions
Amazing personality 😊
Thank you so much 😊
I did all my updates 5 weeks ago phew!
Yesss! You're already ahead of the curve, that is awesome!
We had the same issues. I updates however my star sellers badge was removed.
How long ago was your shop reinstated? I’ve noticed that sometimes it can take a week or two after reinstatement for the badge to show up again.
@@EtsyMentor they said it is final warning and badge was removed. Shop was not shutdown
@@EtsyMentor however I still see so many shops on etsy still in violations and nothing has happened to them. It is weird how they choose shops. I think etsy has internal team as well. I think there are other shop creating fake accounts and reporting their competition.
@@EtsyMentor today my badge was reinstated. I contacted different reps multiple times and I told them it was my fault for updating listings on time however I mentioned the fact that I stated under my about section what i was doing and services I offered. I mentioned the fact etsy did not have the option under listings for me to update more details. I think secret is to speak to them and be honest with them as well.
What can I do to speed up the ID verification process? After my first sale, the shop went on vacation. I uploaded the documents, and now three weeks have passed, but it’s still on vacation. I’ve written to Etsy support three times, and they replied each time with 'wait.' Is this a glitch, or does it really take this long?
Has the order been delivered?
@@EtsyMentor it was digital product, now they tell me that i must verify bank account within 14 days but i cant, i see this yellow message about id verification and nothing happened when i press black button “getting started”
Send me an email when you have a moment, and we can figure this out together. It’s tough to get a clear picture over messages. It should be a simple fix!
@@EtsyMentor cant find your email. I entered email subscription but it doesnt came (
My email is youtube@etsymentor.co
Mine got permanently suspended during application! Even though they took the money
Make sure you verify your banking information and have the correct identification on file before submitting an appeal. Everything needs to match.
isn't making any thing related to politian can palace your store to be suspended like using their images or make a shirt of some quote they said or their names ???
This is a great question. I feel like there’s a fine line when it comes to what you can and cannot sell politically. I’ll look into this further for you.
@@EtsyMentor thank you
