Why is it the people that have these monkeys for pets don’t want you to have one. It’s like they’ve learned to take care but they know you’ll be too stupid to learn.
Sure you can though it'd be better for you to convert a room in your place into an atrium or greenhouse & go to a horticultural store & get some of the trees native to the forests they live in. Theres NOTHING wrong with having 1 or a mating pair of them ( better to get the pair because the little guy will get lonely ) Dont let other people decide what you can or cant do or own, NOBODY has the right to say you cant, just as nobody has the right to say you HAVE to have 1. If people dont take them on as pets then when their natural habitat is gone in a few short decades & their extinct then what? better to start domesticating ALL Monkeys to become pets or the only ones left will be owned by labs or zoos. Not to mention the russians proved that selective breeding works & can be accomplished in roughly 20yrs. They did it with minks & foxes & ended up w/ones that could be handled by humans & even kept as pets. No animal is undomesticatable. thats why its legal in russia for petstores to sell monkeys , its just illegal to bring them into russia through illegal means
+The Piscis evergreen forests can't starve an animal to dwarfism and specially primates who are omnivorous will definitely find enough food. but these monkey's diet contains sap and tree-gum ( up to 90% ) and 10% insects for protein. I think, that might be the reason. not much information is available on these creatures but only their price in different countries and the location of possible markets, where one can find them.
I wish people would stop trading these animals. They're wild animals, living in houses with humans is not natural for them. It's not like with dogs or cats that have been domesticated over thousands of years to live with us. If someone desperately wants a cute pet that will climb all over the place, they should just get a kitten or a ferret instead. Personally I'm content just watching these adorable little furballs on video, I'm not so selfish as to try and take them with me away from their homes.
I have to agree w/Mizvy Morgart. With their natural habitat disapearing so quickly the only way to keep them from going extinct is to either have Zoo's worldwide keep a huge population and/or allow people to breed them for pets. The marmoset does have the 1 advantage in making a comeback though & thats that they have twins 90% of the time & triplets 5%, only 5% of the time do they produce a single offspring & this trait makes them lucretive for breeders & due to their small size alot easier for owners to make large enough spaces to simulate a natural-like habitat even in a small space. Not to mention the typical life span of a pet marmoset is close to 60% longer than those in the wild. Sorry but I'm very pro exotic pet due to the world loosing its "wild" areas so quickly & I will probably be able to purchase a breeding pair in a few months. Lastly all breeds of animals can become domesticated & with selective breeding this can happen in less than 2 decades, I personaly look forward to a future where anyone can get any animal they want for a companion. I do however believe that said owners should have to take a year long class for each different species of animal they want & pass an exam on how to care for it as well as show they have adiquite room for the pet to live & roam in, so it'd be hard still to get something like a tiger unless you could prove you had close to 6 acres of fenced in land for it to establish as its territory. I will say that the above is just all IMO, I understand & respect yours .
I agree with this dude on other people being idiots when it comes to exotic pets. We domesticated dogs and cats domesticated us - two greatest companions to choose from. Yet people go beyond rational sense and endanger wild animal species with their greed for displaying luxurious possessions to other friends.
These precious animals should be left in the wild where they belong! As he said, we can't duplicate their diets which means they will be malnourished or sick from eating the wrong foods. Enjoy them in nature or on a documentary.
@@jon1819 you’re a fucking idiot you probably think Pitbulls are dangerous too they’re legal to own because they aren’t wild animals they’re born and raised in captivity if you put a marmoset monkey that was born and raised around humans in the wild it wouldn’t last 1 day do your research before you open your mouth
@@StockTurboN20 lol I have a pittie dude, you have me pegged completely wrong. Yes and they’re only bred in captivity because people like you continue to support the industry. They are wild animals and you have no excuse other than wanting a cute pet. Fucking idiot
Thanks so much now I wanna buy one of these im willing to put so much effort into owning one of these it helps out so much and probably be so fun to own and play around with gosh I can't wait to get a pet rock
Nope. Marmosets need natural sunlight or they’ll develop metabolic bone disease, so they need outdoor time. They are also highly socially complex, and because they tend to be expensive, people tend to buy only one, or two if they are trying to breed them for profit. In addition, even these little primates stay with their mothers for many, many months and breeders separate babies from their mothers as early as a few days old in an attempt to get the monkey to “bond” with their human And because they are complex, this causes intense behavioral problems for mother and infant. You see repetitive movements, self-soothing like incessant finger sucking, rocking back and forth on the stuffed animal being used as a surrogate mother, self-injury. That’s not considering the highly complex nutritional needs these primates need, or the social stimulation needed to keep them from going crazy. Then there’s sexual maturity and the change in temperament that causes most marmosets (the ones that survive to adulthood, that is) to be rehomed to a sanctuary or rescue center. It’s just not a good idea, and if you care about marmosets, you wouldn’t own one. If that’s not enough for you to think twice, remember these are often victims of the illegal exotic pet trade or ignorant backyard breeders who have no care about their monkeys’ well-being and keep pumping out babies and ripping them away from their mothers as long as someone is lined up to pay the $1000 - $8000 price tag for their cruelty. So if you think buying a single marmoset online and keeping him in a cage all day alone while you are at work is acceptable, I disagree.
How do you know that everyone who has such a pet keeps them for their own amusement? Whenever someone makes such a claim you just have to call them out on it. What they respond with most times is amusing, at least in my case.
Ppl who own these beauties are selfish and have no place owning anything. I could go on for hours and dont get me started on the idiots that get them for a youtube channel.😢
people shouldn't have primates as a pet no matter the size. humans, fer all there good intentions, don't know shit about caring fer primates let alone the knowledge of how to care fer eachother.

Yes humans are related to apes but that doesn't make us like them. if your looking for a long drag out argument, sorry don't. this is the only reply that I will do. Humans, the primates you say we "do a good enough job" yeah in those cases we go fuckin fabulous. bub bye no more replys.
I can't recall ever using nuclear power, or waging a war on anyone. Not all human's are the same (thank God)!! If you would have said SOME human's I would agree with you. But you lumped us all in as one in the same and that's just not how we work. :) I have raised two primates very well, they are older now and raising their very own primates and they are doing a wonderful job at it as well. So to raise one or two of these tiny primates that have been born in captivity would be a bit different sure, but as long as you can afford the right food and you don't feed them crap that will kill them... it's really not that hard.
Alex T You're lucky! I lost all 6 of my imports. As a first time primate owner with no experience, I fed them insects..How was I supposed to know? But this time around, I'm doubling my chances of having a couple of them pull through..I'm importing 12. And, no more bugs for my mini-humans. They'll be eating only people food this time around..like spaghetti and chili. Tomatoes and beans are really good for dwarf-peeps! I hope they fly in while the temperature outside is still zero degrees F..that way we can bond indoors together for a bit. Because, once the temperature reaches 30 degrees F, I'll be moving them to their new 1 ft by 2 ft outdoor enclosure. I purposely kept the unheated wire cage on the small side, so their body heat would keep each other warm. Monkeys do make great pets! And, now that I have become more experienced in monkey care, through trial and error...I am really looking forward to their arrival from the warm Siberian desert. I can't wait!
Why is it the people that have these monkeys for pets don’t want you to have one. It’s like they’ve learned to take care but they know you’ll be too stupid to learn.

I find it hardy to believe they evolved so small
+Austin Somers They're arboreal primates that have a diet of high quality foods.
In their specific location they had an abundance of food and NO natural predators...
also they remained small, so we can have them as pets!!!
Why? Plenty have things have become small due to natural selection, for instance most mammals have greatly decreased in size from earlier time periods
