  • In a previous video • Ford F150: Heater Work... I showed you how to diagnose a vacuum operated Ford HVAC system that would not change modes as it should. We were gonna take a trip to the pick and pull but decided to have a look at the inner o-rings first. Low and behold it was an easy fix for this customer.-Enjoy!

    There's absolutely no reason for you to feel bad! You fixed the vehicle. You didn't cost the customer more money, just to make a buck! You did a good job with what you actually did to fix it, not a Mcguyver tape, and plumbers wire fix. It's gonna last a while, at least as long as the original! You did as your viewers suggested, and didn't just dismiss them as nutjobs, or not as smart as you! And, you admitted that you may have possibly been incorrect in your original assumption! In my personal opinion, you did a fantastic job, served your customer well, made the fix go about as quickly as possible, and did so with the absolute agreement of your viewers!
    This is why everyone likes you so well!! No need to apologize at all! And thank you for sharing this all with those of us, that may not have known this option existed, and exactly how to do it! Your original thought process may have been a little off, but that didn't sway you! You were open minded enough to listen to suggestions, whether you made enough money to pay the bills or not!! Look at how much time you saved, not going to the junk yard!! Sometimes, a penny saved is a dollar earned!! This was a great video! Well, with only one thing missing!! You never once said: WHATS UP MRS O!!! Lol

    No A/C complaint does seem weird, but since some systems use it to help defrost the windshield faster. That could be one thing. Or they just like AC during winter. I'm not sure how that system works, but I know my 07 Daktoa does this.

    • @notajp
      @notajp 5 років тому +4

      Most systems nowadays run the A/C while in defrost in order to remove moisture from the air inside the vehicle, which in turn helps clear the windows inside and keep them clear. That is basically what the A/C does in the summer anyway; remove moisture from the air as well as cooling the air.

    Learn a lot on this channel. I didn't know you could fix those leaky solenoids. I've only met up with a few, which used the rotary manual switch, so I don't think this video would have helped. The manual ones ranged from broken port tubes, to damaged vacuum lines, to one that required a way to hold the vacuum part in place to the rotary switch on the front bezel.

    Going to bring my 1993 caddy Deville to ur shop I’ll pay you to do a video on it!! It would get a bunch of views because it’s the notorious e41 code. Had 2 different mechanics change the Hall effect sensor and I’ve tried repairing the wires. Love ur work so much I’m driving from Indiana !!

    I had a similar issue on my 1999 Grand Prix with the digital dual zone climate controls. The vents would not change to where I wanted the air to come out. It was not a problem with the control head, but it was a defective Vacuum Solenoid Valve assembly. The control unit tells the valve assembly where to route the vacuum to move the proper doors. It was located just above the blower motor under the glove box. Easy to swap it out once I found it. Problem is fixed.

      Agree, they are making things way more complex than they need to be. But at least in my case, a simple $40 part got the air vents to move where they should & it was easy to change.

    You must have more confidence this fix will hold up compared to the unknown of what may be inside any salvaged component.

      I only hate it when my AC/DC stops working in the winter. In fact, I had tickets to see them in April 2016 in NYC, and they stopped working in March and the show was cancelled :-(.

    I just replaced the blower motor in our Ford Transit 250. Damn, they make things tight to work on under the dash. Next time I will hire a few hampsters to the work for me.
