    Thank you for the tips on the Ridgerunner hammock. I just received mine yesterday and I think that I'll install a ridgeline too.

    I just re-watched WB video on changing out the supension on the WBRR. It looks like all I need to do is buy another cinch buckle complete suspension and install it on my WBRR. Looks easy enough.

    thx! the RIDGErunner not having a ridgeline inside the netting bugged me too 🤣. I have that same media hook and stringing up some amsteel with a continuous loop on one end and a nite ize on the other was one of the first things I did to my hammy. I unclip it and leave it in there when I stuff it back into it's sack. problem solved. now if WB would just make lighter poles! ✌️🤟

    Rob,
    I just don't really like the Whoopie suspension. I switched out the Whoopie with the cinch buckle on my WBBB and really like it! Maybe I will buy the Bridge hammock Whoopie hook suspension and try it. I will be watching for the next video Rob.
    Thanks!

    Hey Rob! Love the content and thinking about going with the Ridgerunner but am concerned about the ratings. I am 6'0 and 240lbs and the single layer is only rated to 200 lbs. Have you heard any concerns with this for the suspension or hammock itself? Thanks for the info!

    • @robpelton
      @robpelton  2 роки тому +2

      Hi Joshua! Hammock suspensions can hold a literal ton. Weight ratings refer to the actual hammock. The double layer would be much better suited for you I’d think.

      I"m 265. I've slept in the single many times. No issues. Double layer with a pad is better.

    cool hacks. I tried the ridgeline hack a few months back and in a rush i put a hole in the bugnet. i had warbonnet sew me on a new bugnet and while they were at it they installed d rings on the inside for a ridgeline. so if you're thinking of buying a ridgelrunner you can ask them to install those before they ship to you. FYI.
    Just ordered my bars from Ruta locura....psyched!!

      Sweet! Carbon fiber is so nice. Did you do 2 or 3 piece? Awesome Warbonnet will do that now. If mine ever wears out, I’ll do just that. I want the blue one. Haha. Thanks for watching!

      @@robpelton originally i said 3 piece but i heard the 2 piece is lighter and I was confused if it included the head and the foot or just the head...

      hey, how tight are you having to pull the bugnet cords? I've found that no matter how tight I pull them my internal ridgeline still sags down to my face.
      Are those the stock bugnet cords?

    • @robpelton
      @robpelton  5 років тому +2

      ToastedMonk I pull them pretty tight. They are the factory shock cords. I hang the iPhone 6+. That’s a pretty big phone and it’s works great. I start with my ridgeline pretty loose. Then tighten up the net cords. Next, I lay in the hammock, hang my phone and tighten my ridgeline utilizing a taught line hitch. Lastly, I enjoy Netflix. Hope this helps!

    Rob. I am wanting to change our my Whoopie suspension with either the Cinch buckles or this system here that you just showed. Dutch has the link that you posted here and he also shows the Bridge Hammock Whoopie Hook completed suspension. Which one would be the one to get? I just ordered the carbon pole set and will be also adding the ridgeline. Again thanks!

      I’m not very enthusiastic about the beetle buckle suspension in this vid. I’ve eyed that bridge hook as well. I will be testing out a few more suspensions this spring to see if something works out better for me. Plus, I have WBRR Hacks 2 coming as well. The CF poles are really nice. I hope they work well
      you as mine do for me. Thanks for watching!

    I have a couple of questions. 1. Have you tried to use a becket knot using venom straps? I just saw Triple Nickel Outdoors mention them. 2. Do you backpack with this hammock on the regular? Do I just email you the company about wanting the carbon fiber spreader bars for the ridgerunner? Also, when I go to order the hammock it gives me a lot of options for suspensions. Which one do i order IF I'm going to use the backet knot suspension? I apologize for all the questions but I'm really interested in the hammock and just doing some fact finding.

    • @robpelton
      @robpelton  5 років тому +1

      I haven’t tried that suspension method, but I do see the advantages. I backpack with this exact setup. Love it. Yes, email Ruta Locura. They will reply with a few questions and you’re good to go! If you plan on going with a different suspension from what they offer, just choose “no suspension”. Hope all goes well!

    So the fishing line is pushed through the black webbing and just tied on the outside of the button? If you do this with your new red WBRR you should film it

    Warbonnet should offer a lighter weight spreader bar upgrade when you're purchasing a Ridgerunner. I don't understand why they let that business go to Rota Locura. I upgraded before a recent 62 mile 3 day trip and I was very glad. The carbon fiber spreader bars feel so light by comparison.

    I'm not sure I understand why you had to "hack" the continuous loop onto the dogbones. Did your Ridgerunner not come with a set of loops and buckles? www.warbonnetoutdoors.com/product/1-buckle-set/

    • @robpelton
      @robpelton  5 років тому

      The WBRR did come with straps and buckles. I didn’t care for them. I went with the beetle buckles and attaching the dog bones to it seemed very precarious. So, I opted to use the continuous loops. I can also detach the suspension if needed unlike the stock set. It works so far! Thanks for watching!

    • @nomsolo9935
      @nomsolo9935 5 років тому

      @@robpelton Instead of adding a continuous loop, you can just Beckett hitch directly to both dogbones with narrow webbing, such as mule tape. Here's what that looks like: imgur.com/a/motNcnz

    • @robpelton
      @robpelton  5 років тому

      Dyneema Dreama What’s the advantage to this set up?

    • @nomsolo9935
      @nomsolo9935 5 років тому

      @@robpelton Mule tape should be lighter than the beetle buckle and webbing. But probably more importantly is that continuous loop directly girth hitched to both dogbones will be a pain to unhitch after it's been loaded a few times. I think that's why Warbonnet probably used a metal apex buckles instead of Amsteel loops like the ones in your video.
      With the Beckett hitch on both dog bones, there's no continuous loop to worry about binding up after loading it. And it's one less thing to lose when you're installing/uninstalling the sock.

    • @robpelton
      @robpelton  5 років тому

      I see. I guess I never planned on installing a sock or taking off the loops. I do know mule tape is light and very strong. I haven’t tried the Beckett, but I just may. Thanks for the tip!
