      Define "law abiding". Who's law? This country was established by "law breakers", every one of whom would have hanged had we lost the war. Stop trying to qualify a right with labels like "law-abiding", "responsible", etc. Qualifying a right turns it into a privilege, to be granted, modified or revoked at the pleasure of those with power.

      @T. Kernie you might as well get an sks or any other rifle that shoots semi automatic in 7.62 since I feel like the ak47 is made for mid ranged full auto combat but making it semi auto just makes it a shorter ranged smaller rifle compared to others.

    • @joethe33
      @joethe33 8 років тому +35

      Actually, the truth is is that Century Arms imports the most AK type rifles into the US by a large majority. Possibly upwards of 90% of the firearms market. Century Arms has the capability and knowledge to make an AK rifle, and sell a AK rifle that rivals say, Arsenal. (Arsenal is just the base-line for most AK enthusiasts) However, Century Arms chooses to make cheap and sell cheap. Most gun owners shoot maybe once a month, so a cheaply built AK by CA will never likely show any apparent manuf. flaws. That is why most serious AK guys opt to built kits or go with quality companies like Rifle Dynamics or production guns like Arsenal since they shoot thousands of rounds or 1000 rounds per session.

    Just purchased mine own NPAP AK47 about 2 months ago. I love it. I love the elegant simplicity of it. Mine only had one magazine in it, a PMAG. I purchased some metal mags and returned them for 2 PMAGs. The metal ones had locking problems and the rounds would bind in them. The polymer mags are much smoother.

    Calling that an AK-47, is like calling every Ford a 1968 Mustang. An AK-47 is a very specific model of the Kalashnikov rifle. A little-known, but interesting fact is that the AK-47 initially was a piece of crap that had to be recalled from service and modified before being reissued.

    Not an AK-47.... AK-47 is full-auto. This is an AK-47 variant that is semi-auto only... Just giving the anti-gun people a video to send me proving you can "just walk in a gun store and buy a full-auto AK-47!" It's more important than ever to make the distinction because idiots who don't own guns can't tell the difference.

      They can be as low as $600.00 to high as $2,000.00 dollars. Don't buy A Century Arms AK. They are the worse AKs sold in America. Palmetto Army makes good USA AKs. Then you have Arsenal Inc (Bulgarian) in Las Vegas that make really good AKs second to none to the Russians AKs. Better hurry and get one kid. For If Sleepy Joe Biden in late January 2021 will try and ban many firearms which includes AKs and ARs.

    My AK-47 was made in Czech Republic in early 80's taken from a dead Republican Guard Officer during Operation Desert Storm by US officer and brought back as a trophy from theatre of war. It fires faster than the few AK-s I've seen doesn't get hot as fast as others. Magazine virtually pops itself off when release is pressed. While others seemed to tug there's out a bit. And just a smooth quiet tic when inserting mag. No rattle, scrape, click noises like others make if that makes sense. Its also lighter than the 3 others I've seen. The wood is darker without grain and burnt red/black solid color to it. Was told its odd its czech, not Yugo and was made along side 74's but without doubt a 47.Is it like worth more or cooler or what.

    I have an ras47 it's not too bad looks amazing. Finish and wood is good looking but I can tell the bolt is slightly soft. I've only shot it once but it was about 600 rounds in the weekend of camping and it has some slight deformation, I believe I can order a quality foreign carrier and bolt and drop it in. Accuracy wise the ras47 totally defys the stereotype and at 60-80 yards it hangs right with an ar with open sights, I had it at an inch on paper at 50 and can hit cinder blocks at 200 no problem. The casting lines on the gas tube and bolt carrier aren't great but you wouldn't notice from farther than 6 inches away. And I bought it on sale for 499, you won't catch me bashing my purchase, but I'm not going to say it's a top shelf piece. If all its cast parts were replaced with forged machined parts and everything else on the gun was the same it would be one of the best akms around

With that said I have WASR been having it for 7 year's over 4k round's with no problem's, shoot's 3 inch groups at 100 with brown bear. I have a video about it if anyone is interested, I need to remake it. I had a buzz and forgot to mention some stuff lol. I mention the best AK mod IMO

      akshooter762 PSA are great, but too new to be considered, in few years i consider as long as they keep up great work.
      if you get unconverted slant receiver they 699. They sold out but should be imported soon. But K-VAR have fully converted vepr for 999.
      WASR are ok, not in same quality league as Vepr. They hit or miss.

      Coming from a guy who owns 4 aks, i wholeheartedly agree, but I am calling this guy an idiot for saying that he bought an ak from a friend illegally. Also, there is no "best rifle" as rifles are constantly being produced around the world. There are many different standards that aks are held to, depending on the company or person who builds the rifle, but if you can find a well-made ak, it will be one of the best rifles you will ever own.

    • @Kori114
      @Kori114 6 років тому

      This was not a real AK-47 (a machine gun), it's a semi auto variant. The answer to your question depends on the state you live in. You can only buy a machine gun built before the deadline in 1986, nothing newer can be bought by civilians. Other than having a clean criminal background (no domestic abuse, no felonies etc.), it's really just paperwork (fingerprinting at the police station, passport photo, ATF Form 4, form 4473) and about a year of waiting, if it's legal in your state.

      Yeah ar's are much better built and reliable when you're talking buying a new AK in America. Since there's no access to chinese, Russian, or anything decent these days, it's not worth it. You can get a ar 15 built along side the same ar 15s built for the military for a thousand bucks or less, or by a multiple part thrown together by god knows who ak47 for 800$ THAT MAY OR MAY NOT WORK. It's just not worth it, especially for the price aks are. Why the hell is a century arms wasr10 over 700$? You can get a complete bcm upper with bcg that price.

    • @jdl6881
      @jdl6881 7 років тому

      Johndoe3 Johndoe3 you do realize the wasr actually outperforms the DD bcm rifles in longevity and reliability? They have vids of those rifles not even making it that long under hard use. Hell a palmetto armory rifle outdid the big brands. A wasr goes 50k rounds plus proven by battlefield Las Vegas that's worth the price tag alone. Ak is a different breed of rifle and that's what I like. Everyone has a boring ass ar these days. Atleast aks have character and are workhorses

  • @ICGorillaP
    @ICGorillaP 8 років тому +1

    Given that you are new to the AK platform, and the guy you were speaking with didnt seem to provide a whole lot of knowledge regarding them, I thought Id share an brief overview of what I know of the NPAP and Century products...
    The QC issues referred to were regarding Century manufactured rifles (C39/C39v2 and RAS47). The C39v2 has been significantly improved but still has some flaws.
    The RAS47 has had multiple documented failures and is potentially unsafe. There have been serious metallurgy issues as well.
    Rather than own up to this, they pushed shills to defend the reputation of the product, later damaging the reputation of their shills as well (see James Yaeger).
    Then there's the Century converted rifles, that came in as demilitarized parts kits and rebuilt by Century or Century contractors. These were often garbage in the early days and are still hit or miss depending on who did the rebuilding. Some recent ones, particularly some Hungarian kits have had excellent reviews and appear to be of excellent quality.
    The NPAP is a new parts make of the Yugo M70 entirely made by Zastava in Serbia and appears to have had a very questionable history when it came to QC as Zastava was making them for Century to fit a price point, not a quality threshold. They do not have the 1.5mm receiver or bulged trunnion as its military predecessors had, nor the grenade launcher capability. The other issue that many have with Yugo/Serbian AKs is their non-standard parts. They were not made to common Soviet specifications and their parts are not interchangeable while many others are. This was often overlooked as the original military M70/A/B/1/2 rifles had some cool features. They used a receiver that was 50% thicker than others (1.5mm vs 1mm) and a bulged/reinforced trunnion, which made it more durable. it also has a gas shutoff valve and flip up sights for a grenade launcher. These factors also helped some buyers overlook the fact that their barrels were not chrome lined either.
    More recent reviews have been more favorable however and indicate some improvements have been made, however the manufacturing methods used in the Zastava factory are often considered crude.
    The WASR has a longer but similar history. The Romanian (Cugir factory) WASR was originally made from surplus Romanian AKM parts kits and while the parts themselves were high quality comm-bloc steel, the fit/finish and build quality was sketchy at best and commonly had canted/crooked sight and gas blocks. However since 2014 these have been made from new parts kits and the build quality has improved significantly. These are now often considered the best value on the American AK market, especially since the Saiga's are no longer imported.
