Awesome to see u respond to your fans..I Love this #Freestyle Jam when it 1st came out back in da days and I've always loved it to this day..I'll definitely be blasting this Jam tonight down the whole block in Chole (Soledad, CA) #PuroFreestyle #Freestyle4Ever
Frances, dear you have such a unique singing voice ! And Company B are still one of my fav. Miami Club Dance Bands ever. I still buy and play their music and own all the CD's. UA-cam should have a Company B Channel and official Website to promote and sell new and classic music. This music still ROCKS ! There's nothing really like it on radio today ! : )
Hey Frances, nice to see you are around still. Hope you see this message. I was down in Miami back in the day and met you; I did vocals for BlackPearl and Perfect Image. Happy to see we haven't all faded away. You look great also.
This song is a bad ass jam!! I couldn't remember the name of it for years. Tried to explain how it went to alot of dj's and they were like what. Then once I found it and showed it to them they were like DAMN. I was like yes...
hi Frances, i would love to buy a CD copy of this. i had the vinyl, but sold off my collection years ago. also did you happen to make a music video for this amazing song, or any performance footage??
You we're in Company b also...? I didn't know. do you remember ever performing a show in Salinas, Ca ? We had many freestyle shows at the Sherwood Hall and my Friend and I provided Sound for many of these shows way back when.
DJDiamond ear, this IS freestyle. It just happens to have more of a Florida influence. The New York early 80s stuff you are thinking of is considered Electro. By the mid to late 80s (when this song was produced) it all eventually evolved to be "Freestyle" no matter where it was produced. Your term of "Florida or Miami Sound" is not a valid genre/classification to anyone who actually studies music.
True dat Jarvass! You owned! DJDiamon ear, dear, look into freestyle a bit more & educate yourself about the origin & evolution of freestyle before you speak blasphemy that may mislead. If your gonna call this not true freestyle then NY wasn't either since the sound you speak of was stolen from some Germans, a little unique and determined highly influential band called Kraftwerk that started it all amongst many other sounds. NY & Florida were the main origins, distributors and passion of freestyle! Back to back hits were being released in a prolific matter during its peak. NY had songs that sounded like this as well and Miami had songs that had the NY electro-street sound as well then NJ came in in the 90's like Tazmania. Some were predominantly black electro/funk/breaks and some were latin hip hop/funk/percussive depending on the producers that had their distinct sounds added to the distinct basic freestyle sound. All coming from African Americans over electro funk beats that came from Kraftwerks sound, & adopted & infused by latinos with Latin melodic & percussion elements, over which Latino vocalists sang melodramatic pop vocals about love, in all essence, all producers and artists overlapped and worked together and did duets and produced together and helped keep Freestyle alive. No need to try to separate the two sounds and come off like NY was the only hand in Freestyle.
evilspin, There is no valid educational sources in modern pop music. What you call Kraftwerk influence I might call Cabaret Voltaire. You are right about stealing though, no american producer/DJ would ever admit heavily stealing from UK bands. The whole Chiago/Detroit house/techno and what came after derives from UK experimental scene lead by C Voltaire. And the german thing is secondary to early Pink Floyd, they had the guts to admit it.
i like the guitar solo but it does extend the breadown till way into the seven minute mark! takes too long to mix in another song! other than that...one of my favorites!!!!
This is NOT Freestyle! The proper classification is Florida or Miami Sound. Freestyle was born on the streets of Brooklyn and Bronx in NYC. This has a distincdt sound which ture freestyle doesn't have.
Freestyle Lives 4LIFE BOYEEE ❤❤🎉🎉🎉😊
So many memories! Wild1077/949 in the Bay Area! 80s baby👌🏽
