We can't ignore the difference. It is clear that Hagi succeed harder job. He had the influence on team and the club nobody never had. On the other hand Hristo and Hagi played Barca at the same time. Hristo stayed Hagi couldn't. It means Hristo was more succesfull in Barca. If i must consider as player, they were different positioners... Hristo was a second striker while Hagi was playmaker. Hagi was more tecnique and had more powerfull shoots. He had goals from incredable distances. Hristo had the composure and finishing abilities better than Hagi. As result, if i was a coach of a team and my boss asked me which one i want... It would be a hard decision but i chose Hagi.
Even though they had different positions, I'll say only this: Barcelona made a star out of Stoichkov, but Hagi made a star out of Galatasaray. Huge difference when it comes to presence and game involvement. Hagi could be a playmaker and could also score from 40m with his magical left foot. The only one that I would compare him with would be Savicevic, Il genio.
stoitchkov made barcelona a winning team not barcelona made star out of him. he would have been a star with or without barcelona. as soon as he joined barca the results turned around

Both great players, but different profiles: playmaker and striker. But take into consideration that Hagi went to Galatasaray and lead them to a UEFA Cup, defeating Arsenal! And then Hagi lead Galatasaray to winning the Supercup, defeating Real Madrid! I don't see Stoichkov or any other great player going to a small club and winning such great trophies. Stoichkov needed a good team behind him, that's what any striker needs. Hagi was the motor of a whole team.
I`m tired from silly comparitions.Hagi was one of the best playmakers at his times somewhere in top 10 to top 20.Stoichkov was in top five as a striker.Hagi was more like Falcao, and less like Zico.He made good goal submissions and unexpected great goals from a long distance.Stoichkov was a completed forward player with midfielder skills too.It was pleasure to watch Hagi, but in the big moments Stoichkov was able to give more for his team.maybe because of his natural sport malice, speed and better physical training, while Hagi was slower. To be objective,I must say Hagi had not the luck of Stoichkov. He played in a poor times for Real Madrid.they were champions of Spain but in Europe were not so successful.Hagi gave his best in the the end of his career(Galatasaray period),while Stoichkov did this in the midle. Its pretty normal Galatasaray fans to be biased to Hagi, but statistic is not on his side.Because football is not just pleasure to watch, but results. Both great and uncomparible players.
This is absolute nonsense. You say they are incomparable, but then you make a ridiculous comparison. Sure, Stoichkov was stronger and a bit faster, but Hagi had more technique and better vision. He was by far the better playmaker, and yet ended his career with almost goal scoring ratio - this from a midfielder. You are absolutely right that Hagi had bad luck in his club career, which is why an unbaised comparison takes that into account.
@@alanfrost75 They are comparible at some points:the golden globe, the golden boot, the goal scoring, the club national and international titles, the the goals, the best positions, achieved with the national team, the number of decisive goals in crucial moments and so...
@@stefanvrachev992 The goal scoring is interesting because it is far closer than it should be between a forward and a playmaker. Far closer considering Hagi's main contributions were always assists - and you cant tell me that Stoichkov was more instrumental for Bulgaria at key moments that Hagi was for Romania. The achievements with the national team are roughly on par. Bulgaria's biggest claim here is SF in 94, where Romania was QF (but exited on penalties). Beyond that, Romania achieved a highest rank of 3rd in the world, compared to Bulgaria's 4th. In 98, Bulgaria did not go past the group stages. For Stoichkov, most of his achievements hinge on 1994 - where he deserved full credit for winning a lot - but on the other hand Hagi certainly kept Romania relevant longer and remained competitive himself much longer (despite being a bit older). At club level, Stoickov's main thing is his achievements with Barca. Full credit there, but that has a lot to do with good fortune and good teammates. If you compare two players, you have to take those factors into account. Plus Hagi achieved very good results with Steaua as well - something most people forget. To me they are roughly equal, though I rank Hagi a bit higher because of his ability to lift a team (something we saw often at Gala). He was really exceptional in that sense when he was "on".
Dont forget!!!!!!!!! H A G I was champion in 87 in Uefa Supercup with Steaua București then semifinal in CCE (UCL) in 88 and FINAL CCE IN 89 with magical Steaua București against Great AC Milan ...Stoickhov was good striker Butt HAGI was the game commander like a great general in battelefilds ...Love George HAGI and Hristo Stoitchov they are good family friends ..Respect To our neighbor from Bulgaria ❤
Look, my favourite is Hagi. And all else being equal, I think a great midfielder is more likely to lift a team than a great striker. But... all that being said, you cannot compare these two. It is two different positions. I did enjoy the video though :)
tell that to barca fans and they will laugh at you. stoitchkov was the backbone of barca and the main driving force that turned it into what it became.
@@zarni000 I doubt very much they would laugh or agree with your claim that Stoichkov was the backbone. Barca consisted of a group of extremely talented players that made it what it was. Stoichkov was one of them, but so was Romario, Laudrup, Guardiola, Bebeto, Koeman, etc. In fact, Barca achieved quite little after Cruijff made the changes to the team after they got their ass kicked by Milan. This despite Stoichkov being in his peak form.
You cant compare hagi to stoichkov 2 completely different player hagi was a very advanced playmaker in attacking midfield stoichkov was a proper center foward stoichkov was unreal in the box wile hagi was spraying the ball about in midfield and scoring screamers for fun imagine if theyd have both played at barcalona at the same time?? Wow
It's like comparing Mercedes and BMW... Non sense. Both of them are unique, talented and skillful players. Livinig legends. Still sad that we didn't met Romania on the WC 1994 final match. They had great team those times. Miss the football from 80's n 90's. Nowadays that game has become a nasty, luxury and corrupted money making machine.
I respect the legend Georghe Hagi football amazing skills, accuracy and goals. My all time favourite player. Comparison is an insult to greatness of a player like Hagi of Romania. Because of legend Georghe Hagi I always support irrespective of team playing against like Brazil, Argentina, Holland...
Easily Stoichkov. Hagi was a very good playmaker but Stoichkov was a superb forward who destroyed defences and won so many things for club and country. He was a born leader!
Hagi (AMF) : 525 Games - 167 Goals - 91 Assists (0.49) Stoichkov (CF) : 466 Games - 198 Goals - 31 Assists (0.49) Both are great players for sure. But Stoichkov played for a great team (Barcelona) almost his entire career. Hagi didn't have that chance. I think it's a little bit because of his character. He wanted to win every game and he would fight with his teammates, coach and even with club owner if he thinks there is something wrong or when the team lost the game. This is just who he is. Galatasaray was a great fit for him as he played with young, hungry and inexperienced players and coach. He lead the team and they won almost everything they can with a under-average football team in Europe.
Hagi or Stoichkov? Relatively easy question. Hard to find a coach who'd refuse a player like Stoichkov. He was great. But "The Maradona of the Carpathians" was more creative and a better kicker/shooter.
Brother Stoichkov maybe no? Corekt is Haggi is best tehnical, impresive dribbles Amasing goals. But in World cup, Uefa, Fifa, all futtbol Stoichkov is status Legend ❤Great performers golden boats, Second place golden ball92, Golden Ball 94.3th in world 94.one of impresive #8 in Barcelona history.2 great Legends❤
One is a Balon D'Or winner, top scorer of a World cup, CL winner, multiple times European Golden boot winner, multiple times champion of Spain, multiple times La Liga top goalscorer. The other is a Romanian who played a few good matches for Galatasaray.
Gunny Akdo I am sorry but Romania never was part of ottoman empire like balkan states where, Romania was under suzerainty of the otomans that is a big difference, Romania just paid tribute to the turks, but had her own rulers and was not under islamisation of the turks. Romania is the only state that otomans couldn't control.
stoichkov as a striker needed a good team, hagi WAS the team... going to galatasaray and making them from a poor team to winning uefa cup, stoichkov couldn't do that

Hristo won that trophies, just because he choose to stay at Barcelona, is normal. Hagi changed very much teams. So, pls, don't be stupid, be honestly, actually Bulgarians and Romanians are friends, we are nehigbours, so we don't need conflict between us.
No conflicts, that's why I said it's a stupid question: different positions, different type of players in any case both are legends :) (and btw Bulgaria got to 4th place in the World Cup 94 thanks to Stoichkov who won the golden boot , and Bulgaria is not Barcelona) noroc!
"Steaua Bucharest and Galatasaray was made two legend clubs " excuse me? are you serious. nobody even knows these teams. Maybe legends in Romania and Turkey. That's about it. Barca with Stoitckov and Romario was known everywhere in Europe and is still remembered.
@@bluewhite3059 nonsense. hagi also had chance like everybody else to play for the greatest. he did not for a reason. galatasaray took him. that's where he fit. you cannot fault a better player for being bought by a better team.
It's impossible to say who's better because both played in different positions. Hagi was a number 10 playmaker and Stoichkov was an explosive, complete forward player.
Two extremely talented players, but Stoichkov achieved a lot more in his career including a semi final at World Cup 94 with Bulgaria, a balon d'or, golden ball, etc. I give Stoichkov the edge - hes better
stoichkov is a striker.... if a striker doesn't have a good team to play to him, that striker is 0 hagi was middlefielder.... he was the one who carryied his team + did striker job many times.... he WAS the team. he went to galatasaray who was almost dead financially, was playing bad and got the uefa cup and supercup.
Hagi is a little bit better. He played both Barcelona and Real Madrid, and also Galatasaray Istambul. Much more goals for entile carrier, much more winnings and much more technical player. But to agree that both players are super values. Without them, the football wouldn't be the same !
George Tofan Hristo Stoichkov has 1 UCL Trophy, 1 Ballon'Dor, 1 Golden Boot, played a semi-final in the World Cup 1994 for Bulgaria and scored more career goals, because he was a striker. So in my opinion Stoichkov is better. Hagi is also excellent player by the way. He is also one of the Greatest. Both Stoichkov and Hagi are the Balkan's gods of football.
You cannot compare them. Stoichkov was a power striker and Hagi was a fine playmaker. But, as far everybody knows, Stoichkov won far more Trophies and was far more popular player, world famous. Stoichkov was a footbal God, Hagi was a football angel.
they are authentic, and I know that you have no argument because Stoichkov admitted to FIFA IS BETTER BUT YOU ARE THING FOR SMARTER BY FIFA AND SAYING THAT HAGI IS BETTER ,HE ACTUALLY DOESNT HAVE IDIVIDUAL WORLD AWARD
I understand Stoichkov was a great player during those years.. Anyway i cannot accept that Baggio hasn t won the Baloon Dor 1994. Just because of a penallty? It was one of the greatest players of that Worldcup.Anyway cheapeau to those 2 great players Hagi & Stoichkov!
a penalty that lost italy the cup....just a penalty.... that's exactly how you distinguish a good player from a perfect player. things like this. look at stoitchkov's stats out of 37 penalties in his career NOT ONE penalty missed.
yeah...Hagi it's better..but it's unfair to compair a striker with an attackin midfielder..the midfield player always wins as he is a more complete footballer...as for Steaua...well between 85-90 Steaua was in top three best teams of europe...
Hristo was already star in CSKA, he led his team to UCL semis, scored 3 goals against Barcelona, and won the Golden Ball with 38 goals that season. He also led Bulgaria to WC semis and became goalscorer of WC Both are legends, but have diff positions on the field.
This is probably the dumbest thing i've ever heard. It's like asking what is best a screwdriver or a hex wrench. They are different. Hagi was playmaker, Stoitchkov was striker. There is no point in comparing 2 players who had such different positions. That being said stoitchkov had the more successful carreer and more acclaim. That is indisputable. He had a killer instinct for goals and he scored when it was necessary. But nothing to take away from Hagi on that end. If I were to choose a striker I would choose Stoitchkov. If I were to choose a midfielder I would go with Hagi. You can't replace one with the other.
@IONUȚ RĂDUCANU ok so Stoichkov didnt play well, please he is top 10 all time goalscorer for Barcelona , when Barca won their first Champions League in 92 he was top scorer for his team .Do you know that he has score more goals than Ronaldinho for Barcelona .I know Hagi was briliant , but how did you decide who is better between 2 great footballers like that ?Its not like Hristo have just one big trophie more then Hagi , golden ball 94 , second at golden ball 92 ,golden shoe 90 won amongst all playars in Europe club championships, golden shoe at the USA 94 world cup and bronze medal with Bulgarian team , plus many cups and medals with his clubs so .
@@gakgoz6 hagi had option to go where he was wanted. you cannot fault a player for getting recruited by a great team because he is superior. that is absurd
If you say Hagi is better it will be unfair cause Stoichkov is one of the best strikers in Barcelona history, wich with he won titles in the 90's. In the 90's Barcelona was one of the best teams in Europe. Also if you say Stoichkov is better will also be unfair cause if u look at Hagi long shots goals in his all career at his national team, Steaua Bucharest, Barcelona, Real Madrid and Galatasaray, u could say is the best long shots scorer from action in history.
sorry, but according to this video, hagi is way waaaay over stoichkov. stoichkov accomplished more? That doesn't mean he was better than hagi. Plus, stoichkov was a striker, he scored alot, hagi was a playmaker, a creative midfielder and scored goals stoichkov can only dream of.
+Moie Gillou As good as he was Hagi had more attributes to his game, Hagi scored more goal, was a much better free kick taker, much better long range shot, better finisher, better passer of the ball over long ranges, and Hagi was harder to knock off the ball and had more explosive pace , this is not to denigrate Mickael as he was alongside Hagi one of the cleverest players of his era.kudos
+Moie Gillou I beg to differ especially when it comes to acceleration, Hagi would leave Laudrup as a hare would leave a tortoise, and in terms of passing, in quick thinking short passes Laudrup was just as good as Hagi however in long balls Hagi was more accurate.kudos

The edit comes after years :) That is my personal judgement. In my opinion, Hagi was one of the best number 10 for 90s'.
Even though they had different positions, I'll say only this: Barcelona made a star out of Stoichkov, but Hagi made a star out of Galatasaray. Huge difference when it comes to presence and game involvement. Hagi could be a playmaker and could also score from 40m with his magical left foot. The only one that I would compare him with would be Savicevic, Il genio.
stoitchkov made barcelona a winning team not barcelona made star out of him. he would have been a star with or without barcelona. as soon as he joined barca the results turned around
i would choose stoichkov purely because he was incredible left wing, right wing and centre forward

Hagi was the motor of a whole team.
tell that to barca fans of the 1990s and you will see amazment. he turned around barca. look at the history.
Obrigado pela postagem. Esses 2 jogavam bola demais e hoje em dia jogariam em qualquer grande clube do mundo.
Both were awesome players!
Both great and uncomparible players.
thats the correct answer
Hagi, fantasy!
I LOVE YOU HAGİİİİİİİ HAGİİİİİİİ

Easily Stoichkov. Hagi was a very good playmaker but Stoichkov was a superb forward who destroyed defences and won so many things for club and country. He was a born leader!
Hagi (AMF) : 525 Games - 167 Goals - 91 Assists (0.49)
Stoichkov (CF) : 466 Games - 198 Goals - 31 Assists (0.49)
Both are great players for sure.

Both players were so underrated because they had balkan origin.

Hagi is not from Balkan but from Carpathians mountains.
i know hagi is from the carpathians but balkan states are known as parts of the ottoman empire like romania was
Gunny Akdo I am sorry but Romania never was part of ottoman empire like balkan states where, Romania was under suzerainty of the otomans that is a big difference, Romania just paid tribute to the turks, but had her own rulers and was not under islamisation of the turks. Romania is the only state that otomans couldn't control.
yes some parts were vassals(paying tribute) some where under direct control of ottoman turks
Then don't call Romania a Balkan country.

Both represent the fallen national teams of the great 90s era.

stupid question but fact is: Stoichkov won the Golden Ball in 1994 and was 2nd it the 1992 vote. Hagi was never in the top 3
Nikola Apostolov Doesn't matter mah friend...doesn't matter. Just Look in general, Hristo was made a legend by Barcelona football club, Steaua Bucharest and Galatasaray was made two legend clubs in Eastern Europe by this amazing guy, Gica Hagi. Hristo won that trophies, just because he choose to stay at Barcelona, is normal. Hagi changed very much teams. So, pls, don't be stupid, be honestly, actually Bulgarians and Romanians are friends, we are nehigbours, so we don't need conflict between us.
No conflicts, that's why I said it's a stupid question: different positions, different type of players in any case both are legends :) (and btw Bulgaria got to 4th place in the World Cup 94 thanks to Stoichkov who won the golden boot , and Bulgaria is not Barcelona) noroc!

stoichkov is a bit efficective

Both legends
both of them are my favorite players of alltime. but hagi was like a brain for team stoichkov might be foot. You can not compare brain and foot.

But he had already won in 1993 so what is the big deal ?
The four greatest players of that time: 1. Baggio, 2. Stoichkov, 3. Romario, 4. Koeman... Hagi comes maybe in the top ten under 9. Place ;)
Baggio shouldn't have even been in that final, because the ref robbed Bulgaria in the semifinals.
a penalty that lost italy the cup....just a penalty....
that's exactly how you distinguish a good player from a perfect player. things like this.
look at stoitchkov's stats out of 37 penalties in his career NOT ONE penalty missed.
Barca made a star out of Stoichkov, Hagi made Steaua and Galatasaray stars. Well, what's more difficult ?
Stoichkov was allegedly unknown star .Barsa just make him world star.Stoichkov is the best striker ever.He has instinct to make goals.
yeah...Hagi it's better..but it's unfair to compair a striker with an attackin midfielder..the midfield player always wins as he is a more complete footballer...as for Steaua...well between 85-90 Steaua was in top three best teams of europe...
And Real
Hristo was already star in CSKA, he led his team to UCL semis, scored 3 goals against Barcelona, and won the Golden Ball with 38 goals that season. He also led Bulgaria to WC semis and became goalscorer of WC
Both are legends, but have diff positions on the field.
Stoichkov made Barca a star team. He was the best player in their first dream team. Let's be real about it
Los 2 eran buenos líderes. Hasta hoy nos acordamos de Bulgaria y Rumania
hagi
Hagi :)
Stoichkov won more trophies , 2 golden boots and golden ball

Laudrup better passer , more speed
+Moie Gillou I beg to differ especially when it comes to acceleration, Hagi would leave Laudrup as a hare would leave a tortoise, and in terms of passing, in quick thinking short passes Laudrup was just as good as Hagi however in long balls Hagi was more accurate.kudos
