Hey guyss! If u wanna try the siomai / fried dumplings one day try it with soy sauce with calamansi 😗 It tastes sooooo good! Hope you enjoy the country if you ever visit soon! Stay safee! ✨
Check this video out if you haven't yet: ua-cam.com/video/zukAft1U1Zk/v-deo.html It's "A Brief Culinary Tour of the Food of the Philippines" - from Pampanga Province, the Culinary Capital of the Philippines.
Also this, from Strictly Dumpling, if you haven't seen it yet: ua-cam.com/video/c12zRnFUTdo/v-deo.html It's his "first time trying traditional Filipino food" in Manila.
Some of the street food here in Philippines usually be partnered with soy sauce w/lemon or calamansi or vinegar with chili, like siomai, ihaw, and some barbeque👌👌
4:30 siomai is pork dumpling, usually dipped in soy-vinegar. but this is a new variation, chili mayo dressing. 4:54 buchi is like mochi but with sesame seed crust and mung bean paste filling.
My go-to activities when I go to Davao are Eden (for their adventures and fishing), Aldevinco for souvenir shopping, Paradise Resort for brunch, Pearl Farm Beach Resort for relaxation, Phil. eagle reserve and Lola Abon’s for Durian treats. I’ve never been to the Roxas market, but it seems like worth a visit. Davao City has tons of excellent restaurants, too, spread all over the city. (Esp. Bondi & Bourke - but rather expensive.) Davao is more laid-back compared to Manila but people are very friendly.
Woooww I miss Davao. I worked in Davao City before Covid and we really love to eat in Roxas Night Market. I even celebrated my birthday in Roxas alone with a lot of random people eating beside you😂😂😊😊😊 I love to see you featured Davao city
I was based in Davao before the pandemic happens and I used to frequent this night market. Yes, it is massive, almost occupying one side of the whole street. It can be overwhelming but fun. I see lots of vloggers there. He mentioned it towards the end that you can also get a real meal there - seafood (squid, fish, shells, seaweed salad, meat and soup). The charcoal ice cream is a must try. There is even FRIED charcoal ice cream! People line up for this! But I prefer just the plain charcoal ice cream. I will definitely have it when I get to Davao next week! Oh, beside it is a PASALUBONG (Filipino presents you can buy to take home) center, Marco Polo Hotel and on the other side of the street is a Catholic university.
Guys I love you show. I'm FilAm live in Chicago..Two Jollibee one is inside the Seafood Market..with all of the grilling inside next to each other close to O'Hare..Airport..you will enjoy it.
You should try BALUT guys. Once you taste it, you will be addicted and would crave for more. BALUT will give you that sense of bravery when you ate even once lol. It's like taking a risk 😂
I have been there hundreds of times with my friends. It's one of our favorite spots after school. Sadly, due to covid-19 restrictions, the market is closed for a while now. I miss those days.
Food tip if you plan to visit the Philippines. Isaw, bbq, or all the exotic ones, fishballs, quekquek, tokneneng, squidballs - dip it in a vinegar. Please!! the best vinegar dip is if it has a lot of onion and chilli. "Dont double dip (that's nasty) or just get a cap for your own vinegar and onion dip" Siomai - soysauce + garlic chili + calamansi Sisig - soysauce + chili (sili) + calamansi Balut - vinegar + chili (salt is boring) And order "balut sa puti" - its tolerable and the baby duck is tiny. Palabok, pancit bihon/pancit guisado, pancit malabon, pancit canton - mix it before eating and dont forget to squeeze the calamansi (lime) Ice cream/dirty ice cream flavor to try: Buko Cheese Ube Local Sweets to try: Halo halo - mix it very well before eating. Biko Rice cake Maja blanca Pastillas Dont drink tap water or even the free water in the restaurant. Always buy a bottled water. (Just to be safe)
SIOMAI - is a chinese-influenced food. It's called "DUMPLINGS". The SIOMAI may contain ground meat (of pork, beef, chicken or shark's fin. Combination of PORK & SHRIMPS are the best!) The meat,.a tablespoonful, is wrap in SIOMAI wrapper (smaller circular or square dumpling wrapper) and shaped in round or square with the top part left open. These are, then, steamed for about 10 ~ 15 mins, depending on the size of the fillings. (In authentic chinese restaurant, SIOMAI or dumplings may come to as big as half the size of your clenched fist. And are cooked longer. But, for street foods, a tablespoonful size of meat filling would be enough - to make the price more affordable.
Buchi - is another chinese deli but have become local since Philippines have many food snack delicacies that are made out of "glutinous rice powder and other root crop powder and ordinary (non-sticky) rice.) Buchi - is a snack food made from glutinous (sticky) rice powder with sweet mung (or red beans) paste as filling. They are round. Usually, they are cooked in oil under done. That accounts for its cruchy texture when eaten. And finally, they're rolled in (or are sprinkled) with sesame seeds - toasted sesame seeds gives additional flavor but is optional. They may be sold individually or in sticks (of 3 or 4 pcs), depending on its size and the intended selling price ce. Some Chinese restaurants or bakery sell them for 2 pcs per $ or 3 pcs for $2 (depending on size and stature of the restaurant)
wohh Nice!!! Im actually a resident here in Davao City and before pandemic happened I used to go there (Roxas Night Market) every after school....what that guy showed(foods) was actually just 1/4 of the foods there...because actually there are more Yummy and delicious food there that you could try!!

sad to say this but, Roxas Night Market was closed because of the pandemic... its all safe to eat, all the food undergoes health inspection,, and a health inspectors are always in the area..
