*This is hands down one of the most emotional pop up beat song to ever be made, Nelly furtados emotion in her vocals with Timbalands productions was a force, they were a powerful duo. Her Loose Album will always be my favourite*
this song sorta speaks for me. “you don’t mean nothing to me” is describing the people and things i care about but are afraid to lose and let go of, so i try to convince myself i don’t care about anything or anyone. “but you got what it takes to set me free” describes that “one person” who could “free” me from the fear i feel of losing everything all the time. “you could mean everything to me” is like “i accept all the things i’ve lost and i’m afraid to lose you but who knows, you could be my future, my everything.” 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐲𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐨, 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐡𝐢𝐭𝐬 𝐝𝐢𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐚𝐭 𝐧𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭

This song reminds me of when I was five and six, and my mom and I would have the day to ourselves for car rides and trips to the mall. It came out right before my sister was born, and my mom had been diagnosed with thyroid cancer. It made spending time with her really hard because she was thoroughly exhausted. But she made time for me when she could and always made me feel special. I’ve been having issues with my mental/physical health lately and doctors say it is likely due to my thyroid. It made me think of this song, and listening to it is like a rush of nostalgia.
This song played all the time when i was a toddler. My mom was a terrible mom and shes not in my life anymore but i cant help but miss my childhood sitting in my car seat while she flipped thru her CDs at a red light. More of a sad nostalgic for me
@@armando5994 yeah i hear you. I was lucky enough to have a strong dad, but i i cant help but winder what if... If she could have been better and that life would have been so great. the music that our parent(s) played around us when we were younger is what gives makes us nostalgic now. crazy to think about how if or when we have kids we’re going to hand that down that to them. you know? life is so repetitive.
I was 7 when this song came out, I didn’t understand the lyrics but oh I loved it and even begged my dad to buy me the CD just for this song. Years later, I forgot about it until when I was packing up my closet during my move last November and I found that old CD from 2006. Popped it into my car stereo and the memories of what feels like a lifetime ago came flooding in. Above all, I can now appreciate the lyrics! Lovely version of an already awesome song!
I was 10 when I heard it on the radio. Luckily, my mp3 player was able to record radio - I've listened that piece of recording for hundred times, having no idea what the song was about. I used my own version of gibberish for singing :)
In the day In the night Say it right Say it all You either got it Or you don't You either stand or you fall When your will is broken When it slips from your hand When there's no time for joking There's a hole in the plan Oh, you don't mean nothing at all to me No, you don't mean nothing at all to me But you got what it takes to set me free Oh, you could mean everything to me I can't say that, I'm not lost and at fault I can't say that, I don't love the light and the dark I can't say that, I don't know that I am alive And all of what I feel I could show You tonight you tonight Oh you don't mean nothing at all to me No you don't mean nothing at all to me But you got what it takes to set me free Oh you could mean everything to me From my hands, I could give you Something that I made From my mouth, I could sing you another brick that I laid From my body, I could show you a place God knows You should know the space is holy Do you really want to go?

This hits differently then the original does. I was thirteen when my mom found this song and showed me. I didn't really understand the nature of the song as a kid, I just loved the beat. I do love the original for how it had a sweet, somber, sultry sass to it. But hearing it slowed and lowered in pitch. It fits with the criteria of the song, makes me have a better appreciation for the song with the idea of moving on from a soured relationship.
something about this song just hits different. the vocals, the background music, the beat. it's just too good. it's crazy how you can make music out to be whatever you want. there are so many people in this world that have different memories that this song could unlock, whether they be good or bad there will always be memories. and music is the closest thing we have to any kind of time machine. so just close your eyes put your headphones in and relax. let all those memories, moments, and nostalgia just flood back in. enjoy, because it's the little moments in life that you will always remember.
