I dont get the whole "humanitys going to die because of the ocean" thing. Tomorrow, the salinity of the ocean could raise to that of the dead sea, and every form of life in the ocean would die, and it would have zero effect on the continuation of the human species. It's be a colossal fuckup economically, and parts of the economy would crash, but in terms of species survival? Zero impact. The only way it could affect us on the species survival scale is a butterfly effect of the economy crashing, a world war for resources to compensate, and a nukes getting launched. Barring that, zero impact on species survival.
