In the US, we use ABCs to for fixed pitches whereas in Japan (and China, where my piano/flute teacher was from, and supposedly a lot of Euro countries) uses Solfege (I think that's what it's called), which is the Do Re Mi system. The sometimes pro sometimes con of the solfrege system is that it sometimes does but sometimes doesn't have a fixed "do", depending on where you live and who teaches you. If it is fixed, the "C" is a do, but if it's not fixed, pretty much any starting note of a scale (could be an A or a D) could be the "do" with the corresponding notes to the scale assigned for the rest of the syllables. That's also why you notice that Marine knew that "do" was first but then questioned where "do" was on the piano, while Gura immediately went for the correct note (granted on the incorrect octave) and was just having issues trying her best to read the sheet music instead of counting up like Pekora did.

I feel that this shows how little music is taught in the US. I think I did like one hour of music once a week for like 3 years in elementary school then never again. Now I'm not sure how important it actually is to know how to read music.
Idk man I did 8 years of clarinet into bass clarinet and I can’t play piano without pulling a battleship to slowly get closer to the right note (in this game)
If you excuse my music related electives the last mandatory music class i had was in the 6th grade and e did learn how to sight read which is technically what they did and applies to singing. The whole do re mi bit. Also i knew what key that bar was in. But that came from 6 years of choir not my mandatory music class
I can tell miko is profesional when it comes to piano she dont even need to calculate the notes... 😂... Just look at the notes then click on the piano...
-Miko/Botan read it naturally. -Pekora started counting from the middle C -Subaru started counting from the G-clef (nice approach) -Noel/Marine/Flare: me doing a sight reading test -Gura: Amazing ears, forget how to read
So this is interesting point in the difference of cultures. Growing up with the piano, I was taught to read sheet music with the Alphabet like Gura was doing, as I assume most people in the West do too, while the Japanese use Do-Re-Mi. That ending with Flare-Noel-Marine was funny as hell lol. I would've expected Flare out of the three to know.
Thinking about it, it's basically putting a letter instead of the notes names but... I don't really get why. It's interesting how much difference there are btw culture and education even for something as universal as music, kinda like measurement.
@@windshipping I honestly can't tell you, but really it's just swapping the Solfege with the Alphabet like you said. What I find baffling is we use C for Do, and not A.
Wow Miko, Pekora, Botan, and Subaru can read and play piano? Sasuga they're truly idols! Pekora is quite unexpected for me and Botan is just too talented! This made Gura, Flare, Senchou, Danchou look bad. Ok maybe not that much xD

Peko/Miko had to learn piano to get their kindergarten teachers licenses. You gotta know how to play for the kids in japan as a teacher. They talked about it on stream a while back.
When I got to this part, I was like: "I don't know how to play the piano, what does all this even mean". Then just to find that it basically a tutorial and shows you how.
I played trombone in my schools band and jazz band. Had the hardest time learning to read sheet music and ended up using numbers instead of letters, had to write down the number above each note. Idk was so much easier for me, thankfully when I transitioned to the guitar tab music all numbers. Also becoming part of the Jazz band wasn't easy, you had to apply and audition solo and if you were talented, you were selected. Then there were different positions based on skill usually 1-4, you could challenge the higher positions at any time and take their spot or just move up. I got up to number 2, the number one guy was on another level.
Holy shit miko was fucking amazing here, not just blazing through the puzzle but also singing along afterwards in a way that damn i want a full version of that
Miko surprised me with her smooth piano skills also Pekora and Botan both knew about piano too.Gura clueless but still managed to figure it out and the N,M and F (Noel,Marine & Flare) trio just spammed it out lol.
Not only Miko figured out the notes quite fast, she almost played it perfectly as well. Just some tip to read block notes: if you know by heart at least 1 note position on the sheet music, you are going to figured out the rest faster.
@@Jerryfan271 the G and C are also easy to see the G is always the line in the middle of the circle thingy and the C is the empty space above the circle

If you want to listen to it, the piece that plays after this "puzzle" is "Sogno" (Dream) by Paolo Tosti! Now you may stop reading if you aren't interested in pronunciation of foreign languages: Botan pronounced the sound "gn" as an Anglophone would pronounce it in the word "Signal", but it pretty different from the Italian "gn" sound, but if you can pronounce the Spanish " ñ " sound you're good, because that's simply the same

Didn't play that one, but that brought back memories of Myst. Spent hours moving sliders up and down trying to match notes before I eventually just gave up.
that one silent hill 1 puzzle.

I was just trying to figure out how much faster Miko was, but Subaru isn't getting nearly enough credit either lol.
Time to play everyone’s favorite game “Who has a tiger mom”! Yay!
I feel that this shows how little music is taught in the US. I think I did like one hour of music once a week for like 3 years in elementary school then never again. Now I'm not sure how important it actually is to know how to read music.
It is mostly important for melodical instruments like Piano.
In Oregon, or at least in my school we learned keyboard and how to read the notes. I still use the same tactic Gura used for the notes on piano
Idk man I did 8 years of clarinet into bass clarinet and I can’t play piano without pulling a battleship to slowly get closer to the right note (in this game)
my school did recorders for 2 months and a xylophone for a week back in 5th grade.
If you excuse my music related electives the last mandatory music class i had was in the 6th grade and e did learn how to sight read which is technically what they did and applies to singing. The whole do re mi bit. Also i knew what key that bar was in. But that came from 6 years of choir not my mandatory music class
People surprised that Miko got this so quickly need to remember that ELITE has a double meaning.
What double meaning? You mean the one and only real meaning?
I can tell miko is profesional when it comes to piano she dont even need to calculate the notes... 😂... Just look at the notes then click on the piano...
-Miko/Botan read it naturally.
-Pekora started counting from the middle C
-Subaru started counting from the G-clef (nice approach)
-Noel/Marine/Flare: me doing a sight reading test
-Gura: Amazing ears, forget how to read
So this is interesting point in the difference of cultures. Growing up with the piano, I was taught to read sheet music with the Alphabet like Gura was doing, as I assume most people in the West do too, while the Japanese use Do-Re-Mi. That ending with Flare-Noel-Marine was funny as hell lol. I would've expected Flare out of the three to know.
How do you even read notes with alphabet? I'm French and we learn with do-re-mi, I'm honestly puzzled at Gura method
Thinking about it, it's basically putting a letter instead of the notes names but... I don't really get why. It's interesting how much difference there are btw culture and education even for something as universal as music, kinda like measurement.
@@windshipping how do you read sheet music in different modes or keys with "do re mi"? 🤔
@@lukecheung5777 it's probably the same, you read the keys depending on their position on the sheet, we learn the position with doremi
Pekora has a licence to work in daycare/kindergarten, which often includes piano playing. But Miko really impressed me, she seemed so comfortable.
@@grimoirech Miko also plays piano, she said she might play in a stream someday
gura can play stringed instruments tho so she does have musical skills other than her singing. just not piano lol
Oh really ? Maybe not piano but Gura can play ukulele you know, not just playing, she really good at it. So yeah, she not that bad. (Idk about the other though)
@@justashamanwhohappenedtobe9413 Gura is really good at ukulele Guitar and shes getting good at Banjo aswell
Gura: *takes 5 seconds staring at the piano* "UH-OH"
Almost JP member can read musical scale 💜😍
Not gonna lie, Miko and Pekora surprised me. I didn't expect that. So quick and flawless
Peko/Miko had to learn piano to get their kindergarten teachers licenses. You gotta know how to play for the kids in japan as a teacher. They talked about it on stream a while back.
Miko coming in and hitting the notes like it's nothing.
Somewhere, Yagoo is smiling once again! A dream reborn.
then noel, flare, and angie come to kill the dream again
Miko is the level I want to be at, playing a piano. Noel is where I'm at.
Their experience with the piano was actually kinda surprising...
Yes I’m talking about Miko.
4:26 "Even though I look like this, I actually can play the piano."
Botan, you look LIKE a piano.
Idols(singers) and their "Do, Re, Mi"s.. Meanwhile, I'm trying to remember C, G, B, A, A, D, C, D, E, E.
That's how I read it as well lool cultural differences
@@jopetdevera I think it's more of a singer vs instrumentalist thing. (I played saxophone, so I learned notes by letter)
I Love Peko Chan's Reaction Tho 😌😌😌
Flare: Is this allow?
Noel: I don't care Im doing it.
Holy shit miko was fucking amazing here, not just blazing through the puzzle but also singing along afterwards in a way that damn i want a full version of that
They really are idols. Miko is so precious
Elite & Peko are really talented... I keep getting surprised everytime they show a new talent...
3:24
I didn't know you could make a scale out of just one note.
That's what we call tone deaf (which Peko-chan isn't but she was counting instead of scaling the notes lol)
Damn, Subaru must be practicing her Solfeggio, she was on point.
I was hoping they would play a random known song just to f around.
Just some tip to read block notes: if you know by heart at least 1 note position on the sheet music, you are going to figured out the rest faster.
as someone who doesn't play piano, I only have the position of A memorised, and then I figure out the rest
it does work XD
@@Jerryfan271 the G and C are also easy to see the G is always the line in the middle of the circle thingy and the C is the empty space above the circle
@@Froge4291 I just realised this is about reading sheet music XD. I feel a bit dumb. I think I have every note from D3 to F5 memorised. But in the past I used A and E as references since I'm a violinist (those are open strings).
@@Jerryfan271 ah ok
That’s so crazy that people remember the do re mi notes and that’s how they do it. And Gura remembered the a b c part. I learned piano years ago and it’s like I know it because I learned but If you’ve never played ever I would be at a loss of what to play here. Until you press notes and can see the feedback. But they all had an idea of just where to start at least. Very cool
That was such an aggressive "I'm an idol"
I like how everyone figures it out by the power of education or in gura's case trial and error
And then noefuremari sharing one brain cell just cheats the system
Well, considering Japan has a more comprehensive music curriculum in their education system, it's no surprise why most of them are pretty in the know of sheet music..
Not just in Japan but most of East Asian countries.
シークバー動かしてるとぐらの遅さも手伝ってみこちのスピードが際立つ

(5)Noel, Marine, Flare: 1:09
Not only Miko knows well how to read the music sheet, but she know how the music notes sound even before it sounds, sasuga elite
If you want to listen to it, the piece that plays after this "puzzle" is "Sogno" (Dream) by Paolo Tosti!
Now you may stop reading if you aren't interested in pronunciation of foreign languages: Botan pronounced the sound "gn" as an Anglophone would pronounce it in the word "Signal", but it pretty different from the Italian "gn" sound, but if you can pronounce the Spanish " ñ " sound you're good, because that's simply the same
Nobody talking about Ethan being such a good pianist even without two fingers
Good thing there arent like 4 or 6 flats or sharps
And they dont have to follow the 6/8 time signature and note lenghts
It would be hell if it reset everytime they got wrong.
@@InnocentC0 well just frustrating and the person might need to draw on a paper which key corresponds to which note to get it.
@@InnocentC0 OOF damn this gives me waves of nostalgia
*4 or 6 Rushia sharps
I like how the game lets you keep pushing all the keys in a row until you get it without any punishment or start over but they still try to do it right

*hears the high G*
WHEN I WAS-
Our Elite Miko-chi surprised us all with her elite performance
Sasuga Elite
Neol is the classic anime side character that is the OP tank with 1 braincell lol
Noel is basically anime version of "Felicia so fucking strong/ 99 STR 1 INT " from Dark Souls 2
Botan's big brain never stops to amaze me not only did she knew how to read it and play it but she knew the name of the solo too...
I’m not doubting that she already knew it but she could have just read the title of the piece
@@Anansi-y5m I didn't even notice that.
At least this wasn't "All those young endaring charms" they have to play... 😈
Gura going down to the start of the octave to find the B after just finding the G via the same method hurt me more than you could ever know.
wow Mikochi caught me off guard, meanwhile i totally could relate to Noel lmaooo
Elite Miko and Botan got slick piano skills,Subaru was well good and a hundred percent cute,As for Gura she good and NoeFure with a mix of Senchou is quite hilarous
Wow. I guess all Japanese girls really do know how to play piano. Noel must be a violinist then.
I wonder why i read that as Violance😣
When you forget that they are all idols xD
Noel: I don’t know anything about the pitch
Everyone who’s watched her sing: Just a BIT of an understatement...
Idk but the character they play, match really good with their way to solve it :v.
1. Gura, well shark brain isn't that special
2. Miko, she is a shrine so it's ez
3. Pekora, well this criminal war is experienced on solving thing
4. Botan, ofcourse. What she can't do?
4. Subaru, well she is an idol bcs she said so.
5. Noel, brute force? Thanks god ethan don't bring a mace.
You forgot botan :)
