    Wonderful performance, and what a great piece ! So dark and expressive. Each player is constantly confronted with its own loneliness and receives the silence as only answer ...

    A very interesting piece in the new style that Penderecki has adopted after his experimental time. The importance of soli is exciting.

    Love the cellist!
    Never heard this piece before, it's an odd combination of his 1960s stuff and his romantic-y stuff.

    A few pieces of P's work for me, but this one largely doesn't. It strikes me as a pastiche of fairly retro musical gestures strung together.

      Have to say I agree with lendall. There's not much new here. It feels derivative of works like Ginastera's concerto for strings, similar phrases and also silences. It's not a bad work, but it's got a 'been done' feel to it.

      I believe Penderecki's Sinfonietta No. 1 for Strings (1992) is an arrangement of this string trio (1991)

    This is so ridiculously poor! Well, now let's listen to real music full of beauty, energy and good ideas composed by Haydn, Mozart and Beethoven...

    • @Kwert
      @Kwert 7 років тому +4

      This is a comment that is strikingly full of ignorance. You can feel free to stick to traditionalist ideas of beauty and contribute further to the stagnation of this artform, or you can try and approach something like this with an open mind.

    • @Rickriquinho

      This is criticism. To accept everything is easy…

    • @Kwert
      @Kwert 7 років тому +4

      There is a difference between being critical, and heavily implying that this is not "real music", and contains no "good ideas".

      An option is to admit that one does not appreciate or understand, and to hope and to strive to come to appreciate and to understand, rather than to condemn what one does not understand.

      I don't care for this piece simply because I don't think the ideas are that interesting --- at least for me. I wish Penderecki took what I think he thought was finished and placed in a drawer and forgot about it for a few months. I think he would have realized the piece was somewhat underdeveloped in its ideas or a bit trite --- some of this simply sounds like 2nd or 3rd rate Bartok.
      Of course is this supposed to be a parody in both the old and modern sense of the Bartok style then it is a successful piece although I again don't like it --- if this is the case, then it is a matter of my tastes differ from many responses here.
