In re the shipyard: If you look at each of those increments, you'll see the total cost is 1 million per 100 tons expansion, no matter which increment. What you'll also find is that at 6 months, you'll build 1200 tons (200 tons a month), at 15 months, you'll build 5400 tons (360 tons / month) and at 24 months you'll build 9600 tons (400 tons / month). So, if you're after a large shipyard during the life of a campaign, the quickest way to do it is to go for the 24 month plan, but since you're then building 400 tons a month, it'll also cost you 4 million / month (at 1 million per 100 tons built). If you have a lower monthly budget, then the shorter increments, with their slower tons / month build rate would be the way to go.
You build 466.6.. tons per month (1400/3) but you start 1600 tons in the hole. So each time you start building you have to build 1600 tons worth at 467t/month before the docks start getting bigger. (1400/3)month - 1600
In 1890 or 1900 campaign, do not underestimate the power of 3 inch casemate and secondary, make it 3.9inch(98.9mm) and +20length with veteran crew it will have okey dmg(20dmg per hit in average with he), good accuracy(base 23% at 1km 0.4% at 10km), long range(max 10km) and very good rof (5s reload). It will not shows that in shipyard(which said max 7.5km range) but you can see it in battle. I found it out in a hard way in my 1890 british campaign(update15), german 3 and 4 inch hit my battleship so hard repeatedly like using GAU-8 gatling gun firing at BTR, my crews died 45% very quick. It actually already been nerf in update 16(crews died much slower) but the dmg is still here, and it will knock out main and secondary tower easlily. This trick in 1910 dreadnought time is not that good, only good at pre-dreadnought time.
8:45 Not sure if you know this, but if you hold down Shift you can fine-tune the placement of ship components. It helps a ton for saving space or making some.
It goes to smaller increments of movement, but it won't ever go to completely fluid placement; kinda unfortunate, sometimes going a few pixels further might make something fit whereas it simply can't with the current system.
welp, looks like you might want to change the name of this "post mortem" series, because it seems it was a 1900 campaign, not 1890!(honestly makes sense, as the poll results were mostly in favor of that starting year)
3in up till 1910/1920 are actually good against light target. Also 105mm/4in are really strong till 1920 Also the large torpedo boat is considered a dd and not tb
Which still begs the question of cross-version compatibility. No use having a save around if it's bugged to high heaven and back because it was made using an older version. Once that patch hits stable that hopefully won't be a problem anymore.
Kinda feels like that predreadnaught hull is asking you to put a big turret on the aft deck and a smaller one on the fore deck. Not saying it's a good idea, to be clear, just that that's what it looks like it wants.
I suggest you increase the draft and reduce the beam of ships to improve thier range substantially. They might have some accuracy penalties but they give some decent bonuses in return. And you will be able to save weight due to the increase of the minimum operational range.
@stealth17 if you chop off a little displacement off the hull of GER ships they tend to do better. For the BB III if you do a little cutting it will remove one "lifeboat" and one secondary turret placement position. But actually the BB II is a superior hull to the BB III - because the BB II can use the large tower and 12 inch guns with almost max barrel. Note the BB I cannot fit 12 with longer barrel.
11:41(this should probably be pinned) Disregard that comment of Stealth's. This series was recorded before an update to the Beta wiped out the save file for the campaign. I'm saying this in case you missed his message at the beginning of the video.

Lets just say the enemy never stood a chance.. xD Outfitted the main guns with max AP for killing Armored Cruisers.. had something like 11.5inch pen.. xD

There needs to be way to invest in inrease of individual port capacity (quite expensive but rather fast and maybe some bonus to GDP) Played as Germany 1890-1910 and than save reset came :(. I won in wars Malta, Corsica, Tunis and Cyprus. In last war with UK my ports were over limit every other turn. And it would realy be nice to be able to base my fleet in Med ports (even if they had no capacity). Also kinda anoying having to evict french and UK ships from my Med ports (DD/CL) every turn. We need a campaign in 1890 where you only are allowed to have 1 ship at any point of the campaign. That way you start with 1 battleship which you can refit (or replace if sunk) at any time and will replace when you decide to switch to a new hull.
Doing a refit or rebuild you might have a hiatus of up to 15 Months without a ship. in that time you are not only going to lose transports but aso ports and provinces.
