I had to try this painting. So I did it and the birds are tricky, so I tried to practice several times before I tackled those darn birdies and finally got them right. The painting uses some weird colors but they work and look completely real. So I got a lovely painting, a small treasure I will frame. Thank you so much.
I had seen many videos of art tutorial but you are the only one who explains the things thoroughly step by step including which colors to select and how to make different shades and how to use brush. I truly appreciate🙏❤
Ha I'm having so much fun! Just finished your sunset painting and I must say the birds were a bit challenging. After trying to paint a few on my canvas I realized they looked more like dead flies than birds so I dabbed them off with a damp cloth, reapplied the previous paint and blended and it looked great again but after that I tried to paint them just on a piece of paper and still thought they looked off. So I took a picture with my phone and carefully drew them on the canvas and painted them in and now it looks incredible (not as good as yours but I'm a novice). And I also realized that when you paint just the one or two birds they do look ridiculous but when you paint the bunch it looks great! Thank you Katie, I'm having a great time and I'm learning soooo much from you.

Beautiful painting and simple yet learning and perfecting techniques. Can complete it quickly. Exactly what I needed. I have been painting some complicated pieces. I paint slow so takes a while. Hard to stay motivated sometimes. So happy that you are back!!! Really missed you! Congratulations on your little one. Beautiful baby. Love your tutorials. I have a question about oil paints on top of acrylic (only use acrylic paint). Would the water based oil paints work over acrylics? What do you think the benefit of that would be to the overall painting? Thank you

Aww congrats!! It was a HUGE struggle. Even if I had some time, I didn’t have the energy. It took him sleeping through the night, and at about 7 months I started painting regularly again. Before that it was here and there 😃
Just tried your painting of the wave and it didn't turn out very well. I'm blaming it on interruptions but I'm not really sure that's the case. I wasn't doing too badly until I hit the pallet knife and then I just got blobs and globs and I ended up stopping because I was getting frustrated. Might chuck it, might not. I think maybe I wasn't using the right canvas so tomorrow I'll get a canvas with a bit more stipple and try again! Any assistance would be much appreciated.
