    Great demo dude. I just stumbled on your channel. I have a Charvel DK24 2pt HH and I feel like its a nearly identical guitar essentially. Love it and considering an AZ in the future, because Ibanez rocks!

    Given how many styles you cycled through in this video I'd say the Ibanez AZ is a perfect match for you. I'm looking to branch out more in my playing as I've gravitated towards heavier things for the last 15 years or so but now I'm into lighter more melodic-sounding fare. In fact, I recently discovered a band called Polyphia who switched from Ibanez RGs to the AZs and who now have their own signature AZ models which only adds to my desire to want to own one.

    I have the the same guitar in metallic blue, bought it without test playing it. After I got it set up professionally including the tremolo to stay in tune, this guitar is an all around tool. The tone coming out of this guitar is incredible.

    Thanks for the review. Considering this guitar but mainly concerned about "tuning stability" issues reported online quite frequently. I'm not a big tremolo user (non Floyd Rose user) at all so I wouldn't be using the guitar for big dive bombs. Overall are you having issues with tuning when performing big bends/playing hard. Thanks!!

    • @jimmyfranklin

      Thank you so much for this comment. So! I can only speak from my personal experience... I own a prestige AZ and I owned the Scott Lepage. I have suggested to 2 of my students to buy AZ premium and they both did. Another one of my students had a Scott Lepage and sold it and bought the blue premium AZ. No one complains about tuning stability. I barely tune mine and we make jokes all the time about how you never have to tune them. The only reason I sold my Lepage is because I didn’t love the IGNO pickup. But tuning stability isn’t a problem I’ve ever had. Also, if you are thinking about buying one if you can please buy from the link in the description of this video, it’s no extra cost and it helps support the channel! I actually have a video coming out next week where I slap the whammy bar quite a bit hahaha this answer your question??

    Was there a big adjustment required when you went the 009’s? (They ship with 10’s )
    Big question - did your playing suck before you got this? Maybe it came with a really really good method book 🤔

    • @jimmyfranklin
      @jimmyfranklin  3 роки тому

      HAHAH so... I had it professionally set up with 9s! so it will need an adjustment. Especially after being shipped. also... to me, my playing in this video was awful 😆 but with the roster of people who play them it made me listen to them more and I ultimately was just more inspired to get better! thank you so much!

    I've watched a lot of az 2402 reviews and I've noticed that basically none of the reviewers do dive bombs with the vibrato arm...in fact a lot of reviewers do t even have the arm attached...
    Why is that.....or is it obvious...

    • @jimmyfranklin
      @jimmyfranklin  10 місяців тому

      Well. At the time that I filmed this, I was still not sure how it would do. But also, these aren’t true dive bomb type trems. Do I dive on this guitar now? Yes! Maybe once or twice per show? Do I some times have to tune it back up a little. Yes.

    Awesome playing and video, thank you for sharing! I have a az prestige myself and had such high hopes with this instrument. There definitely is alot of positive and negative feedback on the prestige and premium line. I think it boils down to quality control. When I received my prestige it had horrible dead zones on various of frets and it was very noticable. Since then I've had some fret work done and even with some leveling I can encounter mild dead notes. I also own the Scott lepage premium az and that guitar came in wonderful playing condition! Every fret sings and it's just a joy to play. The prestige has a more quality feel compared to the premium line but the attention to detail on the fret work(on my particular guitar) was a huge disappointment. The premium is a very good playing guitar with some beautiful appointmentments and the attention to detail on the one I received was excellent. Your prestige is beautiful!

    • @jimmyfranklin
      @jimmyfranklin  4 роки тому +1

      Thank you!! I have a Scott Lepage also! and I did a review of it on this channel! Ive never came across a bad az but you are the 3rd or 4th person to mention inconsistent fret work on the prestige. I have a feeling that Ibanez got shocked with overwhelming demand for these guitars and with an increase in production there is a higher chance of a few "duds" making their way out into the world!

    I do not know if I want the HH or the HSS, is the 24 frets really worth it, and have you noticed a difference in neck pickups regarding single-coil tones? Is the tone g-spot as Scott LePage calls it real??

    • @jimmyfranklin
      @jimmyfranklin  4 роки тому

      ok. so the "tone g spot" is real... its based on the harmonics of the string. Joe satriani talked about this long before anyone else.. that's why he jams a mini humbucker type rail up against the neck to solve this a little bit... however, for comfort I love 24s and the difference can be so minimal

      They are good for metal. you can use it. but Ibanez makes better guitars for metal than this

      @@jimmyfranklin Got it. Thanks. I am in search of a guitar which will help me evaluate which genre I am most comfortable with. I have surely understood that what I love listening to, does not necessarily translate the probability that I will love playing that genre of music too. If it is good enough for metal as you state and as we clearly see it is good in other genres too, then I believe this guitar, in its given price bracket, fits perfectly. Thank you.
      P.S.: I found some videos on UA-cam, which somehow I did miss seeing before - like the ones from Andras Szvirida and Sergey Kasinec - which are specifically delving into metal genre with the AZ prestige.

      SO... im going to do an update on owning this guitar... but I still love it and it gets me giddy when I play it... its on my lap as im typing this message... little things like wearing down the back of the neck from playing so much.. and the pots and switch have some rust from me playing a lot of gigs outside by the water... but its still strong!

    Hey I wanna get the guitar but how exactly does the neck feel ?
    Like a strat/charvel or even bigger ?

    • @jimmyfranklin
      @jimmyfranklin  4 роки тому

      its definitely bigger than my charvel was but in such a comfortable way... it feels big at first like a c shape Strat neck but the neck shape fits my hand so so so well... I would compare it to the neck of my Jackson RRX24.. thats much closer than the chervel neck!

    Is it silent when you split the coils?

    • @jimmyfranklin
      @jimmyfranklin  5 років тому

      Most of the settings yes! the split coil still stays on to cancel the hum. i think 2 of the settings may buzz a little, but that's how little Ive noticed it!
