By the time this video started there was already a BA crew in, and by the look of it they’d already ‘nailed it’.
Did nobody notice 2 tallies already on the board?
The second crew looked like they were going in to mop up.
Nice controlled job by the look of it.

Yes saw the two tallies in the board , but no ECO so they must have been under Rapid Deployment which makes sense with only one pump there . Good quick work . I like the clean cab principle with the BA sets stowed in a locker .

With the BA sets stored in the lockers instead of in the cab, doesn't that delay teams going in as the crews can don sets on whilst moblising to fire instead of rigging up once they arrive?@@scooby1992

Good thing this was England and not the US, because when they would have eventually arrived and then wandered about for twenty minutes the whole terraced block would have been going and through the roof! Then out would come the chain saws and ceiling hooks! All the windows would be put in and bloody great holes cut in the roof. And then they would spend another 20 mins wondering where the hydrant and water is! It would have been a gut out and then the call would go out 'Mayday Mayday I've gone through the hole I've just cut in the roof', God bless America!

My dad used to be a fireman, they used to have the breathing apparatus in the cab so they could get rigged whilst en route, once on scene they could pretty much go straight in. This new idea seems to waste valuable time??

It's all to do with contaminants and the risk of cancer from the toxins.. that's why the majority of fire kit is now the gold stuff so you can see the toxins more easily and get the kits washed more regularly. I agree it does take time, but you still have to do your buddy buddy checks. In this instance, it seems as if it's not 'persons' reported'

    • @scooby1992
      @scooby1992 Рік тому +3

True , but the reason is as Dave says .There has been alot of work done around contaminants and the increased cancer risks faced by Firefighters . Technically BA sets should only be donned once you get to the job and not en route in a moving vehicle . Does it still happen en route to certain jobs when BA is still stowed behind the rear seats ? No comment .Fire kit used to be washed on stations and now it should really be sent away for a ' deeper ' clean .

@scooby1992 we all know freelance still happens, I guess when it's a going job the moral pressure that comes with it is to get in there quickly

I understand the reason for clean areas inside pumps etc but why the uk FRS couldn’t do it the EU way of if they have been in a dirty environment they have a vehicle come out to them with full clean and fresh gear including BA. But no the UK will do it on the cheap and possibly cost lives by adding several minutes dining the BA once on scene.

So many ill informed armchair firefighters. 2 BA and hose reel in before video started. Knockdown took place in under 2 minutes, look at smoke change. Second BA crew for relief. Slide out BA stowage brilliant idea. Clean cab concept is the future, too many firefighters have died from cancer and respiratory disease. The presence of carcinogens is increasing due to the toxic chemicals in household items.

Yes and no ... In Germany we're also ging a clean Cab Strategie but we have cleanen BA for at least the first Crew in the Cab and for the second Crew sometimes in the Cab or in the compartment but after User we try to change thwm on Scene with New ones so that we dont put them back inside the Cab.
We also change the clothes on Scene when possibel.
I could remember the old Times when the complet engine smells like fire and now we know the Problems and Do what we can to change it ...

Also having the driver's fire gear in a locker underneath, delays him too, as you saw. One good idea is the complete BA set enclosed in a fold down harness, here in Scotland there's no such thing and the set straps etc have to be bunched together and held with a retaining strap and squashed into the locker.

@@simonsupersi2225 Agree, most of our drivers don't use the nearside locker for their firegear, they find a space somewhere on their own side.🙂

Hmm, not sure if this is a wind up or not...........OK just in case the "tripod" is not recording anything it's a stand that the BA entry control officer uses to fix an entry control board to, which they use to supervise the entry times, time of whistle, and locations of all wearers at an incident.

As a former firefighter, from Las Vegas, Nevada, USA, I was totally unimpressed with the response timeS, especially how long it took to get into the building with their breathing apparatus. God help anyone, who might have been inside.

First of all nobody was inside, second of all they have to make sure the structure is safe before sending crews in, that being said if you are a firefighter you should know American firefighters are worse so you can't really say that about our fire service

Makes me laugh when I watch the watch managers walk in without BA ..what's the point of having BA wearers...The BA team would go in do the business and come out and report to control and brief the oic and Baco on what was what. I did 37yrs in the job retired last year and that's the first time I've witnessed oic going into a building whilst the BA team are still under air .. Makes a mockery of going into the building wearing BA in the first place

I joined LFB in 1970 and the OIC always used to assess the situation in the Fire while we were rigged wearing BA. They thought the toxic smoke and gases could not affect them! They would later find out it did as many died just after retiring!
