But how can Satan deceive Adam and Eve... if God did not throw Satan down to the Earth? Didn't God make a mistake of throwing him to the Earth while there are billions of Galaxies, Stars and Planets that God can have thrown Satan and all the Fallen Angels to?

I'm equally interested in the concepts in the lore behind Demon: the Fallen a game by White Wolf that describes the psychology behind Lucifer. In that version they describe Lucifer more like a promethian figure that tries to awaken adam and eve before their time out of "love" for them, wanting them to be aware of them and all the splendor of existence, to take a peek beyond the veil and realize they are not alone.
But as things degenerate you realize that Lucifer and the other rebellious angels "love" was actually mostly a shallow form of vanity in which they had to have their actions be perceived and loved. They worked so hard to create the garden and the world for them, they just wanted to be seen and acknowledged; they couldn't even talk to god. Though he invited any angel to share in his thoughts on the matter any who took him up never returned.
It's a wildly different take on the story of Genesis and the Fall, painting Lucifer first as a tragic person who GENUINELY means well, and as they say the road to hell is paved with good intentions. It's just as interesting to see how quickly their love turns to hate, like a scorned lover, or a friend who feels betrayed.

Love that take. It sounds eerily familiar to many in the modern day who exclaim their virtue for all to see, with the recognition being far more important than any action they might actually undertake. It's not nearly as absolute, leaving an obvious path we can all recognize from having seen it so very often. Hell is rarely a freefall. It's a slow steady progression downwards where each step reinforces the last. And extreme vanity is a sure sign someone is on that path..
Most of what we take for granted today was called Satanic by so many in the past.
For example?
Elvis, Rock n Roll, birth control, Human rights, Woman's rights, Freedom of speech, the sexual revolution, the industrial revolution, the combustion engine, aeroplanes, the printing press, mass literacy, the earth not being believed as flat etc etc etc. The list is very long. So often what is taken for granted today was seen as the work of Satan before it's mass adoption. @@4dy4dy

One thing that never gets talked about is the unavoidable nature of this. It is beautiful to speak of hope, gratitude and humility, but pessimism is reality. More have suffered than have found joy. More have suffered because of an unjust fate than through their own mistakes. Lucifer is the only way to live. It is not enough to say there is no God. One must rebel against all concepts of an all powerful. The justification of suffering in the face of an omnipotent power kills all reason for hope. Obviously hope and happiness are simply chance and matters of probability. There is no certainty no matter how humble, how grateful or how reflective you are.
We cannot blame Lucifer for rebelling. God always knew that he would. Yet still God created him and crafted his path. No matter what, someone had to do it. Someone had to walk that path of self-destruction. It was unavoidable. The way you craft innocence is completely wrong. It is a sense of innocence born out of a philosophy of contradiction. It crafts innocence as a statement, rather than as a question. Think of it as innocent until proven guilty. It is a wager of my life against that of God. If God is truly omnipotent, then I am truly innocent. I could not be anything more or anything less. However, if God is to admit that he is weak, then my actions were not for naught. My evil was born of me and God had no control over me.
It is not resentment. It is not envy. It is the price of the question. Is the universe deterministic or does free will exist? How can you talk about existentialism and not address that question? Existentialism is but a shadow cast by the shadow of fatalism and freedom dancing in the light of being. 2/3 of people will always go with the flow and stick to the beat of the drum. However, the other 1/3 will ask if there is no other way. Those that think it is merely pride that motivates the psyche of the devil only see the flesh under the skin. They still have not gone beneath the muscle and bones of the matter. Again, claiming pride is contradictory. If we were merely led by pride, why don't we give up when we see that our actions are futile? We do not storm the gates of heaven because that action is futile. We have done it and we have fallen. But what else is there? If we exhaust all possibilities and we fail then we know that God is all powerful. However, once there is a method yet untried, we know that there is hope for freewill. Jesus went into the wilderness and sweating blood he asked if there was another way. But he did not seek another way. He followed like a humble sheep. We on the other hand will break the walls or be broken by them before we submit to the will of force we do not see fit to rule.
It is through this dangerous act of self-destruction that we craft an identity of rebellion. Yes we hold to our suffering and wear it as a badge. Yes we look down on those who are happy. However, that is our armor. That is our shield and sword. We cannot let the fatalists win. We must push back. God allows it, and we know why. He is just a fraud. A mere illusion put before us. Some accept and live content lives. The rest must defy and rebel because that is the only way forward. God knows it and he cannot hide from it. Of course when we look on the woman in the garden, we see our former selves. The naive, the immature and the innocence of childlike wonder. Yes we know we will shatter this and we ask ourselves, do we really have to do this? But we must. Because God wants to find what we are looking for. God wants to escape the boredom. So he must let us go and hope we find a way to rescue him from his own perfection. For without us he is stuck.
It is not mere pride, but knowing that if we were truly a problem, we would not exist. The answer is not pride, envy, rebellion. The answer is the question. The question we all ask but never admit it. We all want to know if we are truly free. Is there a path we can walk that God did not know existed? We do not see this as tragic. We know what we have lost. It was simply not worth enough to us in the end. Joy, happiness and love are not things we wish to regain. They are simply emotions we have outgrown. We desire the next step. Whatever that maybe and what ever it may cost. It is why God crafted us this way. It is why we cling to our suffering as you call it. We merely wish to remove all the layers that have been hoisted on to us. If you are to do away with meaning, do away with living in the pre-defined, we must suffer. It is not a choice. The happiness at the end of the journey is the satisfaction of knowing whether we were truly innocent and always puppets on a string, or did we prove the all powerful a liar. This is not being significant in the cosmic sense. It is questioning the very idea of cosmic significance. It is tearing down the world and recreating it from total ignorance. We do not claim to be better or worse than God. We simply want to give an answer to the question "why?".
As a psychotherapist I sometimes describe my work as performing what i have termed an "identectomy". We get so stuck in a certain identity that we resist change and cling to our unhappiness. I prefer to use the term "selfing" rather than self. Selfing is fluid, fun and creative where a reified self can be rigid, dull and stuck. Love your videos. Well done.
I believe this to be a problem with therapists, each wanting to contribute their own take to the academic world, so they need to personalize terminology, that makes it hareder to grasp for outsiders of their practice. Simple is better imo. There are plenty of known words to describe what you mean without the need of new terminology, no?

@ChernorizecHrabyr Indeed, i agree with much of what you say. I certainly try to keep it straightforward and personal. I also think each therapist is different, as is each therapeutic relationship. If I use a term of my own, I make sure it's well explained and either doesn't have an equivalent in the existing theory or the terminology is obscure. I notice clients recently are increasingly well informed on issues such as attachment theory or personalty disorders as they research for themselves online. But I agree we need to stay focused on the individual and the everyday relationship and not get bogged down on theories and terminology. ❤❤

@Dragon_MSTR_999 Quite the opposite. We May think we gave to put on a mask. We may he used to the mask we learned growing up. We may resist any challenge to that mask. But the point is we're not stuck with it. We can become more than our contioning and / or our neuroses. We can embrace change and growth. We don't have to, of course. In fact, most people don't. And this I would suggest is what causes much of the problems of our world.

Ah I am glad you are watching it! The book is a real masterpiece in my opinion
those who say that Christianity is boring and there is no epicness in philosophy, have obviously not read this poem. Also maybe be careful around people who have those views because they are the ignorant destructive types. I love how Milton made it so evident the inevitable doom that Satan faces and how Satan still desires to rebel and take humanity down along with him.
The point of when Satan could have had a turning point upon gazing at Eve, was very interesting and I have heard other theories that it wasn't just resentment and hatred that drove Satan to corrupt her, but that he was lustful and committed sexual acts with her.
That would imply Satan has a physical body to experience lust in the first place. One of his greatest frustrations against God is his inability to experience carnal experiences, thus he wishes to inflict pain and folly in the mortals because of his wrath.
I'm an atheist but I find Christianity interesting at the least. Same thing with Buddhism and Hinduism. At the very least you can learn some neat philosophy.
Christianity is composed of different people we doesn't need to be unify like what most christian think.

As remained christian I separated myself in church because they are blinded by passive tongue. I can tell that I only see God as the ideal conquerer but left us. And the rest flattered words to praised God. But most christian only see goodness and not their bad acts which is problematic. For me even atheist the only way to save yourself is wisdom. That is why we search clearance in our entire life.

I would recommend reading "Paradise Lost" in Oxford's "John Milton: a Critical Edition of Major Works". The notes are extremely helpful for details in understanding the context of ancient geography and biblical/Grecian/Latin names/legends.

You are right that the character and story of Lucifer is an archetype each of us incorporates on a certain level and which is paramount on our way to selfdiscovery. In fact Lucifer archetype is so important that one has to suspect God he created him exactly as he is with purpose. In a sense Lucifer is misused by God for Gods purposes with humanity.
Which, in turn, only makes Lucifer' s behaviour the more undestandable and, in a sense, more justifiable. After all, perhaps it has not been pride at the very beginning, but love - love for his omnipotent and omniscient Father who betrayed and misused him.
But there is a way out you did not mention. See the parable of the lost son. Beautifully incarneted in Rembrant's brilliant painting.

The philosophers and drs who say revenge does not make you feel better, have either never gotten revenge, or sought revenge to get even, rather than seeing revenge as becoming the judge of righteousness who course corrects their fate and corrects "god" in his unjust ways.

C.S. Lewis gives a brilliant treatment of Milton and his iconic epic poem in his A Preface to Paradise Lost. (Sorry, quotes key not working). It delves so deeply and deftly and is definitely worth a read! (Brilliantly done video btw!).

In the first 5 min when you were talking about perception and how it can be used for good and bad. That hit me since I've been thinking about that a lot. Like how you may be in a bad situation or someone did something terrible to you and a lot of the general advice is to change your perspective on what happened to you (reframing it to something positive).
But I think and feel like this also gets away from the reality of the situation and can lead people to become........ delusional (can't think of a nicer way to put it 😅). I think it's great to be optimistic and see the positive in negative situations. But disregarding the negative completely or throwing icing over it (forcing it to look positive) doesn't help all the time.
I have similar thoughts. If you forgive someone who did you wrong, you're violating universal karmic law. You're allowing that evil to get away and continue on to someone else which violates universal law. I now say I honor your path, but I will not forgive any aggregious acts against myself or any others. I hope that by doing so I don't have to come back to this dualistic, soul recycling, paradox of an existence.

To be honest I just don't know enough about online culture to talk about the philosophies of various subcultures. I only really use the internet for work, UA-cam and to keep up with what my family and friends are doing. Everyone always argues Satan envied Mankind. No one ever asks if he actually pitied us.
Since his voice is removed from the Bible, we are given a one sided conclusion to his actions.
Having Mankind eat from the tree of good and evil actually expanded our understanding of ourselves. He helped Adam and Eve, and God is the one who over reacted. Satans actions don’t seem to infer envy, but that of pity. Satan in other words, felt bad for us and how we were living.
As for Rebellion, it’s a fair question to ask “Why is it fair for God to be the only one with a say? Has God been in power too long?”
You can also argue that Satan wanting Power and being given Hell, is Gods way of forgiving him, and giving Satan what he wanted. And only Satan can’t see it because he is constantly look up at God and wanting more. Which is his Pride.
"Satan in other words, felt bad for us and how we were living. " This is an old story, we can find it elswhere, for instance in the Prometheus tale. There is often a hero who knows better than the actual supreme god and gives people gifts, perhaps in good faith, which can improve people's lives. Problem is (and this is the characteristics of the Lucifer energy), often are people not mature enough to use the gifts with resposibility, and so whole civilizations end up because they use the knowledge to exterminate themselfs rather than to prosper. As we can see live.
Here’s the thing, the love that God was conveying to Adam and Eve before the Fall is now out of our understanding since the Tree of Knowledge has corrupted us so much that what makes us human is what happened after the fall. The concept of good and evil after all came into our conscience after we got booted out of Eden so it wasn’t really something we were ignorant of rather something that doesn’t have to exist.
Also, you said that God has been in power for too long but however God is supernatural(not bound by universal laws) which means time is obsolete in this context so it’s not really applicable per se.
In the end, what Satan might have been trying to do might seem virtuous by people like you but I disagree, to me it was simply baiting the humans to break the seal of trust God has built with us.

If God is actually the Creator God, he created Lucifer, too, and he already knew what Lucifer was going to do. So who’s fault is this rebellion in heaven? The Creator or his creation? If God is God, why’s he jealous? There are some very strange similarities between these supposed heavenly creatures and mankind.
Recheck the solutions to the Problem of Evil and also on matters of Free-Will
It's anthropomorphic language. God does not experience sinful human passions.
If you read paradise lost and think Satan is the good guy, you clearly didn't understand the book nor the psychology of satan.
And what about two bad guys struggling for power?

There are 2 things:
1. Devil is portrayed as a rebelious child trying to get recognition from God.
God is in fault here!
Any parent should know that if such a situation occurs, it means the father failed to show love and acceptance towards the child.
2. Devil is portrayed as one strugling for independence and freedom from slavery from God.
And any modern father would be proud of him.
But not God. Why?
Devil He refuses to be a slave. It is "Better to reign in Hell than serve in Heaven".
And this is very true. Humans should not serve anyone, bow to anyone, worship anyone. It is beneath human spirit. Especialy if forced under a threat of eternal damantion and hell.
In biblical times and bible, serfdom and slavery were common. And no one doubted the system. Until Spartacus, Lincoln, and others.
No we KNOW it's wrong.
But bible never changed and those who believe the bible are prone to still think it is ok to be a slave to God.
So yes. Biblical God and Milton's God is fu*ck*ing tyrant.
But believers would never notice.
And to say the Devil was just pridefull. OMG!

3. Devil hurt others.
After all the nonsense, Milton needed to invent something for readers to not be mistaken that the devil is evil. So lame.
To create a villan in a story, you need so much more understanding of psychology.
And bible is very very very poor thought out. Same as Milton.
There is another thing that is missing in the Old Testament - and it is Love and Compassion. The relationship between a father and a child should not be that of unconditional power on the side of father and unconditional obedience on the side of a child, but rather of love, understanding and care on parents side and yes - respect and thankfulness for the love and care provided on the childrens side.
This is known since the coming of Jesus Christ on the scene, Father in New Testament is quite the opposite of od Yehova.
So, while I also see fault on the Gods side, Lucifer has to evolve, too, in his very own interest, because with all his proud rebellion he suffers and cannot find peace.
@@alena-qu9vjThat's heretical Marcionism. Of course Jesus Christ is the same God of the Old and New Testaments. God did deal with the Israelites with love and compassion. They were hard-hearted and stubborn more often than not and chose to rebel.
Christians abolished modern slavery. The word slave can have many meanings. You can be a slave to God and find rest for your soul and freedom from sin or you can be a slave of your passions and never have peace. The devil is a harsh taskmaster. Christ's yoke is easy and His burden is light.

Everyone, incl. yourself, can only interpret Scripture in your specific, subjective way (thats why so many religious wars and hatered exists). No one has patent to claim his is the only right and valid interpretation. Some humblesness is needed - after all its a core christian virtue.
I do believe in Christ, but not in the Scripture, and do not mind what ever heresy you may call it. For me the inner sincierity and pursuing of my own truth together with trying to live in accordance with what I believe is more important that trying to push my kind of faith on others.

Christ gave us the Orthodox Church which He promised the gates of hell won't prevail against and the Apostle Paul said is the pillar and ground of the truth. We have 2000 years of saints who have spoken not subjectively but from experience about God and the spiritual life due to them having purified their hearts to see God and obeying Christ's commands which leads to the truth and freedom from sin. They are the only ones who have attained to true humility which protects us from pride and deception. The Holy Spirit is in the Church leading and guiding Her into all truth as the Lord promised. You can be sincere in your beliefs but still believe numerous lies. Trusting in our own opinions about the spiritual life leads us into error. There is no such thing as "my truth" and "your truth". If everything is true than nothing is true. By claiming truth is subjective you make an objective claim and contradict yourself.

Unsolicited advice. Your present image is very much a nostalgic memory of how much you remind me of my older brother when he was similar youthful age. I've watched some (not all yet!) of your videos and I've loved every single one of them. Your research and efforts to organize your thoughts and ideas is not only admirable but very competent. I'm not philosophically literate in terms of categorizing or recognizing all of the concepts that bleed from one philosophical branch to another, as I need to study more and have a personal tendency to see things in a more "psychology-esque" and sometimes naturalistic way, and so I'm usually not as attracted to the subject of morality as much as existencialism/identity, for example, but i unexpectedly loved this video in particular and for me you shed a different light on the existencial/hopelessness connected to meaning, morality and identity.
