Garna clearly needs to improve his passing and decision-making, he is still raw, and it is important to keep things realistic, he is relentless, but still not developed, keeping the bar of quality high as a target will only help him improve, instead of letting him think that what he is right now is enough, we really need an attacker who is far more developed and can be first choice and give him a benchmark for development.

I agree on Ugarte. Not only does he have the tenacity, intensity and energy you need from a CM, he also shows quality passing and control. I think we actually have nine players who look good enough for me to stay in the side alongside improvements elsewhere: Onana, Martinez, De Ligt, Mazraoui, Ugarte, Mainoo, Bruno, Amad and Hojlund. I assume also Yoro but I haven't actually seen him. Casemiro, Eriksen, Garnacho, Evans, Dalot, Shaw and Rashford are good but due to age, reliability, consistency or tactical suitability, I don't think make it into a first 11 next season. Not mentioned: Mount and Malacia - I can't judge until they've had more minutes. Youngsters likewise: I hope to see the likes of Amass soon and others maybe briefly at some point but can't judge yet.
3:09 before gyokeres was at sporting, Amorim did used to play much more reserved and conservative, he’d try to get a 1 or 2 goal lead in the first half, then play safer and slower, have the team sit back deeper and try to just control and see the game out. Alot of times it would work, but therevwere occasions it backfired. Its risky vs good opposition bc you’re basically killing your team’s momentum, stopping what was working and conceding possession, letting the opposition build up their own momentum and grow into the game. It wasnt til Gyokeres you started seeing them run up the score on everyone. So it’ll be interesting to see if he does the same tactic, which i think will be risky in the prem
This only shows that Amorim might be more versatile than we think, also right now people are confused about the roles he will use players for, I think his core principle is a versatile 325 shape where he tries to find balance with different roles instead of being stuck with specific ones, whether what footed wingers he uses etc, also, I don't think Amorim uses wingbacks, they are wide wingers who can defend like midfielders used to do earlier, and he defends with everyone defending, no is given a license to be lazy when pressing, that needs to improve, a reason why we looked better this match was that all the starting players pressed, others need to as well.

Although we may have seen a defensive 4-2-3-1 already this season under Ten Haag, one thing we have certainly not seen is the tactical fluidity and creativity in the dressing room to change from 3-4-3 to 4-2-3-1 at half time, due to it being what suited the game state the most. I believe this is another novelty of Amorim’s in itself.
I think the big difference in the style of play is that we went in at half time and Amorim went okay, let’s adjust this without giving up the spirit of what we were doing before. He did and it worked, Under ten hag so much we’d have just seen us come out in the 2nd and do exactly the same thing over and over to our detriment.

This new system looks a little slow during build up but going forward it looks more structured. Did anyone realise that were JUST a counter attacking team during Ten Hag's tenure ? It was so evident that players who come to united lose the basic ball keeping sense because of our finishers. Bruno rashford Garnacho all are counter attack players - now imagine all of them in a system style of play along with their obvious counter attacking threat. It's going to be awesome. Though still feel we were found out in defense. It was a very high line and Bruno couldn't track back for the 1st goal and neither anyone could for the2nd goal. Hence, you will need a proper CB in all three positions and not luke shaw or Mazaroui in that back 3. Maybe shaw works but you need two top CB in that back 3.

Love you guys, but seriously confused about the levels of worry for Garnacho's form. Hasn't he got 7goals and a few assists already too? I understand it's not just about those specific stats, but for a 20 year old winger, that's pretty impressive. Yes he needs to improve his consistency and decision making, but I certainly don't feel worried about him. He's a really exciting prospect who could easily go on to score 15-20 goals this season, at the age of 20 (better numbers than Ronaldo at that age). Also worth saying, he looked to play the right ball NUMEROUS times yesterday. Actually looked like a player who is being coached and I think we'll start to see it more and more under Amorim. Our front players (mainly Rashford and Garnacho) have been the best part greedy and snatched at chances in the past and deprived Hojlund of service which has then resulted in him losing confidence…. If we can get the front players playing for one another then they’ll all score more goals and with better decision making
When their skills are 10x better than the people they play against at YOUTH level, they get away with it. Then when they hit the men’s game, they either need to improve, or they stagnate and fall off.

You can't play everyone in inverted roles and expect them to send in crosses. Garnacho can't and won't cross with his left. He will ALWAYS cut in on his right and look for a shot. What is the point of wingbacks who are supposed to hold the width knowing they're naturally going to cut back to their strong foot? How many times did Antony have the space to get to the byline only to cut back and kill the play? Having Antony as a right sided wingback and dalot as a left sided wing back makes no fucknig sense to me.
Antony had a great game, struggling to take on players on the outside yeah but when he did he was able to progress the ball so well or just create some pressure moving the ball forward or to Bruno. The guy is overpaid yes, but being this ruthless and disrespectful when youve never played sport at an elite level is insane, the lack of confidence means nothing when the presence of relentless effort is consistent, everytime he plays. Although we may have seen a defensive 4-2-3-1 already this season under Ten Haag, one thing we have certainly not seen is the tactical fluidity and creativity in the dressing room to change from 3-4-3 to 4-2-3-1 at half time, due to it being what suited the game state the most. This new system looks a little slow during build up but going forward it looks more structured. Did anyone realise that were JUST a counter attacking team during Ten Hag's tenure ? It was so evident that players who come to united lose the basic ball keeping sense because of our finishers. Bruno rashford Garnacho all are counter attack players - now imagine all of them in a system style of play along with their obvious counter attacking threat. It's going to be awesome.
Though still feel we were found out in defense. It was a very high line and Bruno couldn't track back for the 1st goal and neither anyone could for the2nd goal. Hence, you will need a proper CB in all three positions and not luke shaw or Mazaroui in that back 3. Maybe shaw works but you need two top CB in that back 3.

Love you guys, but seriously confused about the levels of worry for Garnacho's form. Hasn't he got 7goals and a few assists already too? I understand it's not just about those specific stats, but for a 20 year old winger, that's pretty impressive. Yes he needs to improve his consistency and decision making, but I certainly don't feel worried about him. He's a really exciting prospect who could easily go on to score 15-20 goals this season, at the age of 20 (better numbers than Ronaldo at that age).
Also worth saying, he looked to play the right ball NUMEROUS times yesterday. Actually looked like a player who is being coached and I think we'll start to see it more and more under Amorim. Seriously, chill your roll with this kid!

You’d think pros at this level would be able to discern which option ( pass shoot dribble ) is optimal for their situation and execute on it.
When their skills are 10x better than the people they play against at YOUTH level, they get away with it. Then when they hit the men’s game, they either need to improve, or they stagnate and fall off.

You can't play everyone in inverted roles and expect them to send in crosses. Garnacho can't and won't cross with his left. He will ALWAYS cut in on his right and look for a shot. What is the point of wingbacks who are supposed to hold the width knowing they're naturally going to cut back to their strong foot? How many times did Antony have the space to get to the byline only to cut back and kill the play? Having Antony as a right sided wingback and dalot as a left sided wing back makes no fucknig sense to me.

Antony had a great game, struggling to take on players on the outside yeah but when he did he was able to progress the ball so well or just create some pressure moving the ball forward or to Bruno. The guy is overpaid yes, but being this ruthless and disrespectful when youve never played sport at an elite level is insane, the lack of confidence means nothing when the presence of relentless effort is consistent, everytime he plays. Does Ste realise that the 5 in attack (regardless of who is in which zone) is the current "meta" of world football and isn't a "Ten Hag" thing, and has been a thing for years? I mean, bloody hell, a 4-4-2 can get 5-6 players in attack depending on how pushed on the two CMs decide to go.
Just like how not every 4-4-2 is the same, nor every 4-2-3-1 is the same, just because the final attack has 5 players, doesn't mean it's the same as what Ten Hag failed to implement. Baffles me the amount of criticism Garnacho gets. Yes his decision making isn’t the best but the poor lads only 20 and been forced to play too many games for a lad of his age because of expensive signings like Sancho and Antony havnt performed so hes been put in there place. Give the lad time and that decision making will come. For those not old enough to remember Ronaldo was exactly the same. His decision making was shocking the difference being he was in a team filled with elite players to make up for those poor decisions.
